Drama! Now Kohli is given out caught short leg!
But he reviews immediately. Kohli is almost laughing. He doesn't think this is out.

There was a feel that was worth the gamble.
Ind 61-4
Correct call by Aleem Dar - the ball from Stuart Broad flicked the jumper just above the hip. Kohli survives...

That hit something on the way through. Kohli seems to indicate it came off his pullover.
India 61-4
A brilliant take by Bairstow down the leg side with Kohli on strike...

Jonny Bairstow is standing up to the stumps to Sam Curran, some deliveries clocked at 85mph, keeping Virat Kohli back in his crease more than is usual. The India skipper responds with a beautiful cover drive for four, which Joe Root tries to his best to get to, only to slide clumsily over the boundary.

View from the TMS box. It’s a bit breezy up here.

Stuart Broad slams the first ball of the over into Kohli's back leg, and ponders a review but his captain dismisses that thought. Correctly, too, as replays show it was going over the top of middle stump.

There is a persistent drizzle but it's not enough to make the umpires consider leaving the field.

That brings Hardik Pandya to the crease, who now has to face Sam Curran after Virat Kohli nips a single off the first ball of the over. The Surrey tyro has the new batsman groping outside off stump with a couple of beauties, but worryingly there are a few umbrellas up in the crowd.

Toby Brazier: So will the Broad critics now explain why he should be dropped?
Philip Clark: Looks like it could be another "Anderson/Broad double act" - Motorhome Phil in Northern Italy
Salman: There was a time when we Indians were used to see VVS or Ganguly at No. 6 for almost a decade. Now we have Hardik Pandya at No. 6.

There's always going to be a ball with your name on it in these conditions. It dipped in viciously late and Stuart Broad is delighted with that dismissal, as well he might be - that was a beauty.
Pujara b Broad 17 (India 50-4)
Stuart Broad breaches Cheteshwar Pujara's defences, the ball hoops in past the inside edge and cannons into the off stump, which cartwheels out of the ground, off the pads.

It's up and down now this pitch. This is like watching Wasim Akram seeing Sam Curran bowl at the moment!

Some bowlers really bustle in, and Sam Curran falls into that category, making one delivery really fly through to Jonny Bairstow, who takes it in front of his face. But this pitch may be starting to go up and down a bit - the England keeper spills a low one that allows a bye.

Thank you Matthew, I’m looking at playing pretty straight in the ‘V’ to be honest.
An inside edge balloons up off Pujara's pad into space, prompting another head in hands moment from Broad. There's a noise as the ball zips through to Bairstow, but it's off thigh pad not willow - but that's another testing over from Broad, and a maiden to boot.

Sam Curran may not be rapid but he makes batsmen do silly things. Pujara plays a shocking shot, just dangling the bat outside off stump. Curran has started well.
I'm taking a break for a while. Here's Tim Oscroft for his Test debut.
