Wowzer. What a delivery to finish. That's Stuart Broad's best in the match. It's angled in and then seams up the slope but misses the stumps and Kohli's edge. Broad puts his hand over his mouth in amazement. Kohli nods in approval.

Sipech: Conflicting thoughts. Kohli's clearly a talented batsman and you don't want to see him injured; it's more satisfying to defeat a quality opponent. On the other hand, make him as uncomfortable as possible in order to get him out cheaply and press for the win

einsteinisbae: I fear if Kohli is as injured as it looks then India's test series in England might be a foregone conclusion

Ian B: Never ceased to be amazed at the designation of the new boy to field at short leg, in a professional sport. Cricket can be an absurd sport

  3. Ind 47-3published at 22.3 overs

Ollie Pope is back at short leg with Stuart Broad bowling. The lanky England seamer aims one at Kohli ribs but he manages to keep the ball down.

Kohli drives for four a ball later. Broad doesn't look disappointed to see his opponent play that shot.

That image sums up perfectly how disappointed Rahane was with this shot. It cost him his wicket.

  5. Ind 43-3published at 22 overs

There's no short leg for Kohli here, despite this bad back. The Indian capatin again looks in significant pain when running a single to get off the mark. He is hobbling horribly and has eyes shut as he goes.

It has taken 70 balls but Pujara has his first boundary with a drive down the ground. There's swing for Curran.

It isn't just me who gets annoyed by putting the young lad at short leg is it?

Sam Curran is coming into the attack. Virat Kohli is on strike.

Carl Carritt: A few short ones to test Kohli’s back please.

Pravin Kumar: That's the silliest way to get out, throwing the wicket, suicidal.

Tim Haveron Jones: Glad I’m following the cricket from Greece and not Lord’s today - it sounds like Motown Weather back at home. Three Degrees and Four Tops

It's the lesser-spotted short leg! Debutante Ollie Pope is sent in there. I hate the fact this is the done thing in cricket. Surely your best close fielder should be there, not just the youngest player in the team. Pope can't have had much practice there, being a wicketkeeper.

Kohli is really grimacing, he’s in pain.

We'll have to watch the running between these two too. They were involved in a mix-up in the first innings which resulted in Pujara being run out (see below).

This might be quite a serious problem for Kohli. He was clearly wincing when blocking that last delivery.

This is not ideal weather if you’ve got a stiff back – a bit chilly. He doesn’t look his usual Virat Kohli self, he’s usually quite animated.

Here comes Virat Kohli. You'd imagine his innings will decide the match. We'll keep an eye on this bad back.

Full and wide again, he went after it and there was that little Harry Potter wiggle after he played it. Great catch by Jennings, and that change of ends has done Broad well.

    Rahane c Jennings c Broad 13 (Ind 35-3)

A good slip catch from England! Ajinkya Rahane's head rocks back. He knows he could have left this. Instead he pushes at a wide delivery from Stuart Broad and edges to third slip where Keaton Jennings takes a sharp catch. Broad had just bowled Rahane a beauty a ball earlier which the batsman missed. Eventually he got his reward.

More solid blocking from Pujara to Woakes. The run-rate is just 1.96 but it's time India need to bat for. Runs are irrelevant at this point for them.

The tourists only lasted 35.2 overs in the first innings. They're halfway to that point now.

It doesn’t matter about the runs, they will come when it starts to flow but you have to get over that initial period when you think the world’s against you, and you just have to survive. Pujara is looking pretty well set here, he's defending nicely.

Broad has four slips - Alastair Cook at first, Jos Buttler at second, Keaton Jennings at third and Ollie Pope at fourth. There's not much experience at Test level in that cordon. Pujara is digging in. He has been at the crease for 54 deliveries but has only scored nine.

Ajinkya Rahane is currently in the middle of a really good battle with Chris Woakes. They both keep landing a punch before the other hits back. There hasn't been a knockout blow yet.

This was Rahane getting one up on the England all-rounder...

The first change isn't to Sam Curran. As the experience man, Stuart Broad gets the look-in first. He replaces Jimmy Anderson.
