This match is a lost cause and the Indians are using it as practice. England should do the same; give Rashid and Stokes lots of overs so they can bowl themselves into some rhythm. Give Jimmy the afternoon off.
Peter, Oxford
The two India batsmen, having perched on an advertising board to put their headgear and gloves back on, return to the centre and it will be Adil Rashid to begin proceedings with the ball this afternoon.

Lots of content around on the BBC website and the other day there was the annual match between the TMS XI and the Tailenders. You can watch that here.

Roberty Haggerty: As he’s under 23 and averages over 40 this campaign, Joe Clarke must be the next cab off the rank? Personally I’d have Ian Bell come and bat at 4. Failing that, there’s a fella down in Somerset averaging 50 this season..
I was watching the T20 with my better half the other night and there was a ferocious appeal from Bears wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose. She asked: "did he just say 'die!!'? that's a bit harsh isn't it?" what's your appeal method of choice? anyone still go with the "how was that please umpire?"
Ian Bell has been looking extremely good in the T20 matches I've seen recently. I thought Steven Davies also played some highly classy strokes in the match I watched the other night. How about an entire XI who have kept wicket in a professional match?

Ryan Garraton: I think Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan could be left field picks. Or Ian Bell and Joe Denly.

Jonny Bairstow is back at Trent Bridge. Accompanied by a member of the England staff, he carried his left hand in front of him, as if cradled by an imaginary sling. Glum-faced, he whipped through the gates and into the pavilion.

Dave Bundy: Michael Pepper. Man in form, definitely not to be sneezed at.
Kohli completed his second 50 of the match and his 19th overall as India closed the session on 194-2, a lead of 362, adding 70 in the 29-over session.
It was the closest England were to come to a wicket for the remainder of the session as Kohli combined watchful defence with the occasional flash of brilliant strokeplay.
With Virat Kohli on 31 England gambled on an lbw review as Stuart Broad thudded one into his front pad, but the replays showed there had been an inside edge and England were reduced to one referral, while India have still retained their allocation of two.
Buttler was soon donning the wicketkeeper's gauntlets, not to improve his chances of catching, but because Jonny Bairstow suffered a sickening injury. England's highest run-scorer in the series left the field in agony and has been taken to hospital for an x-ray on his left middle finger.
Well, a noticeable lack of wickets to show you from the morning session after India resumed on 124-2. Another dropped catch for the collection though, Jos Buttler spilling Cheteshwar Pujara on 40. There have been 19 dropped catches in the series and 14 of them have been by England.
Good afternoon, please keep your suggestions for England alternatives coming in. I don't think Michael Pepper should be in unless Sussex's Philip Salt is selected at the same time.
Well that was pleasantly entertaining for the spectator but pretty draining for England. India can't lose this can they?
Thank you for your input this morning. I'll be back later for more Ian Bell chat. Here's Jamie Lillywhite to talk you through lunch and the afternoon session.
Pujara 56, Kohli 54
England groan as Pujara flicks past the boot of short leg of Root but there was no chance of a catch. That's lunch and a dominant session from India. They've added 70 runs and extended their lead to 362 runs.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
One of my favourite things about Virat Kohli is he always calls for a cap when the spinners are on. There is something old school about it, I love that.
