The way they are looking at the moment, I could see India batting all through today.
England - set 521 for improbable win - survive nine overs on third evening
Kohli's 103 sets up India's 352-7 dec
Pujara - dropped on 40 - makes 72
Bairstow has fractured finger but should bat

Pujara 48, Kohli 33
Ben Stokes has two caps on his head at slip, I'm not sure why. Rashid's over is decent until he spoils it by dropping too short on the fourth ball. Pujara chops away for four.
I loved Ian Bell by the way. I was his biggest fan. I'm just not sure England should be bringing back a 36-year-old.

The 50 partnership came from 161 balls, the second slowest 50 partnership that Virat Kohli has been involved in.
Adil Rashid is coming back on. He's got his bunny Virat Kohli to bowl at...
Blocked.

Alistair Grant: Bring Ian Bell in for Bairstow just to see England through the series. Don’t want to go back to Vince and Malan. Bell is proven quality and will get England through until Bairstow is fit again.

That Broad delivery to Kohli hit the batsman in line and was hitting the stumps but only just. It would have been umpire's call so not out, even if Kohli hadn't hit it.
Broad is bowling well. England have bowled pretty well overall this morning but haven't made a breakthrough. It's going to get hard to keep coming back for a second and third spell in this situation. India are miles ahead of the game.
It would have been very close but Kohli has hit it. There's a little inside edge according to UltraEdge. I'm not sure anyone picked that up at first. If the umpire did then he's got very good eyesight.
England have to review this.
Broad hits Kohli on the pad. It's given not out. It looked close. Joe Root makes the 'T' sign.

Fred Corbett: Over to you, Ben Foakes.
We've had it confirmed that it's Jonny Bairstow's left middle finger which he has damaged. He's off for an X-ray. Ben Stokes is still trying, getting the ball down at over 85mph, but hasn't created anything. Kohli slaps him for four.
Pujara 42, Kohli 24
I'll block the first person to tweet us saying bring back Ian Bell by the way.
Here's the clip of Bairstow's nasty injury. It's making me wince watching it again.

Pujara has brought a different mindset in terms of movement to defend. But if you get too embedded in defence you are almost waiting for a ball to happen to you.

If Jonny Bairstow is out of the next Test then who could replace him? James Vince scored 74 yesterday, just saying. England surely couldn't just bring Curran back and move everyone up one. That would mean Jennings, Cook, Root and Pope would be the only specialist batsmen.

Tej Singh: Yeah, but could he get a century on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
Adam Coakley: Inject a bit of pace into the game...
Pujara 41, Kohli 23
Bairstow was trying his hardest to hide the pain when he was walking off the field but he didn't quite manage it. He looked like he was about to be sick.
James Anderson sees another excellent spell come to an end, ultimately in frustration.
Stuart Broad returns and bowls a tidy over.

Not as much swing but there has been seam and we have seen the odd ball keep low. England somehow have to get eight wickets in about 40 minutes.

Tom Raine: At least with Bairstow off we can give Buttler a big pair of gloves and get him out of the slip cordon.

It will indeed be Jos Buttler who'll keep for now in Bairstow's place. He emerges from the dressing room and asks for a few practice throws before taking Ben Stokes' over comfortably.
It won't make any difference swapping Bairstow for Buttler in keeping terms but England will have to hope that injury isn't too bad or Jonny could be out of the fourth innings and potentially the next Test as well.
Buttler taking over a wicketkeeper means there's another change to the slip cordon. Joe Root is now in at second.

I had my cheekbone smashed standing at forward short-leg by Lance Cairns and at The Oval Ian Botham cracked me on the leg and I fractured my left leg, though Beefy says it was the treatment I had that did it.
