It's amazing how quickly England can subside. They are 2-0 up but you are agonising about their batting line-up and whether they have got the right personnel.

    Target 521

The crowd is almost silent at Trent Bridge. All you can hear is the screams of the India fielders when an England batsman plays and misses.

Not many expected England to survive but it was the manner of the batting that interested people, could they put in a much more disciplined performance in the second innings? and the answer is they haven't.

Kohli came over and give Pant a big pat on the back after that drop. He's trying to keep his keeper's head up. Good captaincy.

Joe Root is looking at a computer screen in the dressing room. I assume he's having a look at his dismissal.

There's a lad sitting behind me who must be about 12 or 13 years old. On the Pope wicket, his analysis: "Why's he even playing at that? Shocking batting." England would do well to get him in the dressing room.

Buttler dropped on 1published at 12:28 British Summer Time 21 August 2018

Almost a fifth. Jos Buttler gets away with one. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant spills a low catch down to his right. He's made it more difficult for himself by taking a step down the leg side. He is then wrong-footed and can't get back well enough to take the catch.

An indication of England's batting, the top six batsmen in the first innings were all dismissed between 10 and 29 and so far all four have also been dismissed between 10 and 29.

Ollie Pope knows he has just messed up. The 20-year-old closed his eyes and looked to the grey skies as he made his way off.

England on for an absolute thrashing here. We are not going to see Bairstow. India look hungry in the slip cordon, they are grabbing everything, whereas England didn't want it at all.

Buttler is out at six. Still no Bairstow.

Awful shot under the circumstances, I don't know what he is doing there. But what a catch though.

What a catch. Sensational grab from the India skipper Virat Kohli. But you can't escape the fact that this is a shocking shot from young Ollie Pope.

He has just seen has captain fall at the other end and off the first ball of the next over he goes after a full, wide, swinging delivery. He edges high to Kohli's left and Kohli dives and clings on.

JeddOwen: No-one can ever class Joe Root and Virat Kohli in the same category again! He’s having a shocking series whereas Kohli is excelling! Kohli stands up when his team needs him, Root hides.

  16. Eng 62-3published at 25 overs

The Indians were sprinting everywhere with that wicket. Rahul ran down to third man doing the Dele Alli celebration. Kohli was off in flash, screaming as he ran to celebrate with Bumrah. The England captain is gone.

That persistent line around the off stump is what got Joe Root. Because the runs were so hard to come by he pushed hard at that and it is a terrific catch from Rahul.

Ben Stokes not Jonny Bairstow comes out at number five for England. Bairstow has a broken finger.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.3 overs

    Root c Rahul b Bumrah 13 (Eng 62-3)

Stupid shot. It has been a battle for Joe Root and now he falls. Again he could have left it. Root tries to drive off the back foot away from his body and outside edges to KL Rahul at second slip. It goes quickly to Rahul and he takes an excellent catch to his right.

India have got to be patient. They got two early wickets and sometimes when you don't get one for a while you lose your line. But be patient and the edges will come.
