Pope looks to have calmed down after his earlier exuberance. He is getting behind the deliveries from Bumrah now, rather than going for iffy drives. Kohli never shuts up. He's still barking away at slip.

Ian Young: Re. Jennings' dismissal you can see off stump when he nicks it. Never going to know where off stump is if you don't move to cover it.

    Root 1, Pope 10

They've just shown the average speeds of the bowlers in this match on TV. England have the four slowest. India have the four fastest. It's not just Australia who can produce bowlers who are quicker than England.

Ishant has caused a whole heap of problems to the left-handers in this match but now has two right-handers to bowl at. He hasn't quite caused the same problems to Pope and Root... yet.

What a start for India. Ishant to the left handers is very good, he gets that angle and movement. I've just a stat though that only 8% of his balls hit the stumps. Because he is so tall most of them pass over the stumps. I would have a guess that not one of his balls that have found the edge in this series would have hit the stumps. Somehow the England batsmen have got to find the mindset that they can leave them.

If you're just joining us England have already lost two wickets. Jennings was out in the first over. Cook in the third...

Root gets off the mark at the 12th time of asking. Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes both have their pads on in the dressing room. I can't see Jonny Bairstow. He is down to come in next but we're not sure if he will because of that broken finger.

Adil Rashid is bravely still sat in his training gear on the balcony. He could be batting in 20 minutes if it keeps going like this!

Ollie Pope has batted number six most of his life for Surrey. He had never come in before 22.5 overs before his Test debut but in his first three Test innings he has come in after 8.2, 12.1 and 12 overs in this innings.

Joe Root is playing and missing again. Afterwards he practises the leave.

Think you're onto something there, Joe.

We've seen some uneven bounce from the Pavilion End. I think they should have a bat and pad because you could get a catch to balloon up.

    Root 0, Pope 8

Ollie Pope wants to feel bat on ball. Straight after seeing that one go past his edge he drives again and gets a thick outside edge down to third man for four. I'm not sure that's the right tactic. Play yourself in first.

The noise coming from the slips is remarkable.

    What's the problem?

Ollie Pope punches his first delivery down the ground for a lovely four.

Ishant gives him another full ball... Pope goes again. This time he misses. Careful. That one wasn't quite there to hit.

Ishant Sharma has dismissed Alastair Cook 11 times, Cook averaging 16.27 against him. That's the joint second most by an India bowler, Kapil Dev got Mudassar Nazar and Graham Gooch 12 times.

I've just seen a replay of Virat Kohli after that Cook wicket. He went on his little dance was shouting and staring wide-eyed right in the direction of England captain Joe Root.

Joe Root does not look comfortable at all. Twice in a row he's groping at fresh air outside off stump. He can't lay bat on these deliveries from Bumrah. It's brilliant from the India quick. The Indian slip fielders are jumping up and down and putting their hands on their heads. The crowd is silent.

It probably has nothing to do with anything but, 25 minutes before starting an attempt to bat to save a Test, Keaton Jennings and Alastair Cook were still playing football.

India need eight wickets to win

It's now over to England's 20-year-old Ollie Pope. He joins Joe Root in the middle.

Virat Kohli was off doing a dance after that wicket. India are loving this. They're all over England.

Similar ball, similar shot, it might have been fractionally fuller. A straightforward catch straight to second slip, Rahul is having a good match there and made no mistake. I'm not sure he needed to play that ball, it was four or five inches outside off stump and moving away.
