Good thing about this England team is they bat all the way down to nine. The bad thing is they only bat down from five
Sam in Norwich
Ravichandran Ashwin opens up after tea and Moeen Ali knocks him away for a single before Sam Curran defends the rest.
Thanks Jamie.
Moeen Ali and Sam Curran stride out to the middle to continue their salvage job.
Can India strike quickly after tea and be batting before the day is out?
Now to see if these two can extend the partnership to give England a respectable first innings total - and with a reminder than Ian Bell has reached 151 for the Bears in the Championship - here's Jack Skelton again to take you through the final session. There are 39 overs still scheduled to be bowled, although the cut-off time of 18:30 BST is rather more likely to come first.
There was some exciting counter-attacking, however, from England's middle order left-handers, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran, who shared an unbroken stand of 53 for the seventh wicket and mixed watchful defence with some sparkling strokeplay.

Barney: I know it wont be a popular opinion, but we are the fifth ranked Test side playing against the number one ranked side. They are the better all round side currently, the fact that we are 2-1 up is a good achievement.
Ben Stokes soon followed, as did England's one remaining review. The all-rounder was confirmed lbw for 23, a second wicket for Mohammed Shami, to make the score a precarious 86-6.
Not to be today for Jos Buttler after his superb century at Trent Bridge. He was smartly snaffled at third slip for 21, leaving England on 69-5.
So we managed 27 overs in that session and England added 82 for the loss of Buttler and Stokes. As Kool & The Gang's brass-tinged "Celebration" rings out around the ground, let's take a look at the highlights of the afternoon session.
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
Tea has perhaps come at the wrong time for England - Moeen Ali and Sam Curran were batting nicely there, running well between the wickets.
Dan Norcross
Test Match Special commentator
This has been a testing day for England's batsmen. They haven't always been equal to it but Moeen Ali and Sam Curran have batted together for 69 minutes now and it's been the calmest spell for the hosts.
Eng 138-6
A hesitation - and the final over before tea would not have been a good time for a run-out - but Curran hurries through for a quick single to record an excellent, highly entertaining fifty partnership. Shami beats the left-hander with swing through the air and then further movement away off the seam, but England survive and that will be tea.

My friends and I have tickets to the fourth day, we've been looking forward to it for ages. On current evidence we need a contingency plan, anyone know of a good event to attend on Sunday?
Tim from Oxford
Ashwin rattles through another over and despite some tinkering with the field we will have one more before tea, which it looks as though Shami will bowl
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Sam Curran's real challenge will be how he bowls overseas. In England there will always be a bit of swing with the Duke ball. I can certainly see him growing in stature with the bat.
Partnership 47
Impressive defence from Curran, who raced to 20 from only 18 balls but has been impressively circumspect to the dangerous Bumrah as England bid to get through until tea.

All Test grounds should have a climbing wall and an inflatable slide.
R Ashwin 0-7 from 5
The end of Ashwin's fifth over and it's a second maiden for the spinner, respectfully played out by Curran, who looks exemplary in his cream coloured sleeveless sweater, although my better half will not take kindly to his upturned shirt collar.

Stephan, almost perfect but move around to the left a touch and you won't have to see it at all [see 15:11].
