I never get tired of watching a Laura Wolvaardt. She's absolutely smoked that through the off side, you won't see any better than that.

  2. SA 7-0published at 3 overs

Wolvaardt forces Brunt through the covers for four. Early contender for shot of the day.

I've played a lot of county cricket here, but there haven't been a huge number of internationals played here. They'd certainly want to get over 250 to put pressure on England.

  4. SA 3-0published at 2 overs

Anya Shrubsole starts us off from the Pavilion End - with keeper Sarah Taylor donning a helmet to stand up to the stumps, and captain Heather Knight having stationed herself at slip. Gun-barrel straight from the vice-captain, and it's a maiden over warmly applauded by the Canterbury crowd.

  5. SA 3-0published at 1 over

Lizelle Lee gives the scoreboard operators their first action of the day with a single to backward point. A delicate start from SA with three singles.

England are walking out with a spring in their step - it's South Africa's regular openers Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt beginning their innings, and Katherine Brunt taking the new ball at the Nackington Road End.

    Here we go!

Not over at Canterbury this afternoon, but backing England Women to go well in the 3rd ODI against SA. Here's hoping Tammy and Laura smash it on home turf.

Ah yes, the 2015 Women's Ashes Test was played on this ground.

Not a happy memory for England, as they lost by 181 runs - they will hope to exorcise that particular ghost today.

I remember the Test match here in 2015 - both of the opening bowlers wanted to bowl from the top end, so I'll be intrigued as to which end they choose.

BBC Weather's Chris Fawkes on TMS: "The weather's set fair - it's about as cloudy as it's going to get this afternoon, but they should melt away. We won't see any showers."

Heather Knight said she would have bowled first, so both teams were happy at the toss. Sometimes you don't know what a good score is because of the power of the South Africans - Lizelle Lee was inconsistent before this series, now she looks like she really is the real deal. She's really maturing as a player, and I think she's only 27.

However, it's not just this series which has been making the news in the world of women's cricket. If you've not been following the Ireland-New Zealand series there have been some records not only broken, but shattered into a million pieces.

Not content with scoring 490-4 in the first game, the White Ferns were indebted on Wednesday to 17-year-old Amelia Kerr, who smashed an unbeaten 232 to break Aussie legend Belinda Clark's 20-year-old individual score record.

The word from the middle is that the changes are down to injuries. But I like Andrie Steyn - I saw her in the game against the England Academy, and I was surprised she didn't get in the team ahead of Lackay.

This is the kind of series you want to play in, and these are the pressure games - there's a lot to play for.

With those short square boundaries, you can expect some fireworks if Lizelle Lee gets going.

We don't know whether the South Africa changes are down to injuries or tactical.

It's an interesting decision because South Africa's strength is in their bowling. The wicket is a little drier than it was yesterday and the outfield looks a good one. They spoke to a few of the locals - including a South African local in Heino Kuhn [an ex-SA international who plays for Kent as a Kolpak player].

England are unchanged. South Africa bring in Andrie Steyn and Masabata Klaas for Stacy Lackay and (to the delight of spell-checkers everywhere) Raisibe Ntozakhe.
