  3. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

Kent have had a good day against Gloucestershire, racking up 276-3, thanks largely to that 124-run opening stand between Sean Dickson, who went on to make 117, and Daniel Bell-Drummond (49). Heino Kuhn also weighed in with 38, while Jo Denly and Zak Crawley are now looking set, having already put on 56.

Everywhere else, however, wickets have fallen.

Leaders Warwickshire are already in bother in reply to the all-out total of 220 posted by Glamorgan. After the early loss of Will Rhodes first ball, fellow opener Dom Sibley has now gone for 7.

At Wantage Road, Leicestershire are now batting in reply to the 204 all out made by Northamptonshire. But the visitors have already lost a wicket. Paul Horton caught and bowled by Ben Sanderson for 13. The Foxes are 27-1 after nine overs.

And it's a real wicket taking day at Chester-le-Street. 15 now gone in the day as Derbyshire slump to 113-5, of which Matt Critchley has so far made 30, in reply to injury-hit Durham being skittled for just 96. A game destined to make it to day four.

Keaton Jennings is Alastair Cook's current opening partner in the England Test team. Obviously, we wish him well, but if he is unable to cement the position in the series against India later this summer, where should England turn next? After today's Championship century, is Rory Burns to man to provide stability at the top of the order? Or would Middlesex's Nick Gubbins be the man for you? Let us know what you think.

Aggressive start by Gregorypublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Somerset 273-5 (86 overs) v Nottinghamshire

Notts skipper Steven Mullaney has chosen to share the second new ball with Luke Fletcher, but he is unceremoniously deposited beyond the rop at mid-wicket by Lewis Gregory at the end of his latest over. Gregory has eight to his name after coming out at the fall of Tom Abell, with partner Steven Davies on 40.

    Lancashire 201-7 (73.4 overs) v Essex

A first batting point for the home side. Australian Joe Mennie is the provider after the shock of those two quick wickets. That sure did not seem likely when the hosts lost their fifth wicket to the second ball after lunch, with just 59 on the board.

  7. wicket

WICKET Clark b Harmer 79published at 17:04 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Lancashire 193-7 (72.2 overs) v Essex

Simon Harmer strikes again as, having bowled Shiv Chanderpaul, he also bowls Jordan Clark. Two in three balls for the Essex spinner.

It's a season's best score for the Cumbrian all-rounder, after putting on an important 131 runs for the sixth wicket with Chanderpaul, rescuing their side from 59-5.

An even gutsier knock by Clark after earlier being hit on the helmet by his old Lancy team-mate Neil Wagner

But there are only seven overs to the new ball now. And the home side have not even earned a batting point yet.

    Surrey 211-3 v Hampshire - tea

The players went off for lunch, the rain came down. And it's the same story at tea, with bad weather preventing a prompt start to the final session of play. There are, in theory, 34 overs left in the day's play. Surrey skipper Rory Burns is 108 not out, and Ben Foakes has 64.

  17. Tough times for Durhampublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Durham 96 v Derbyshire 78-2 - tea

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Because of injuries and international call-ups, Durham are down to the thinnest pickings of a squad and in a desperate situation right now. This looks like being a bleak period in their first-class history.

Those ECB sanctions are really starting to bite. Today they've been forced to give Championship debuts to four players. Three, Josh Coughlin, Ryan Davies and Michael Jones, have come from the second XI, while Matt Salisbury is another loanee.

Derbyshire last won in Chester-le-Street in 2004. That day they bowled Durham out for 91. Today it was 96. Duanne Olivier did the damage with his Derbyshire best of 5-20 in 16 overs, while Hardus Viljoen took 3-30 on a green top which offered a lot of seam movement for the bowlers.

In the absence of Paul Collingwood, Durham are being captained by Cameron Steel, who at 22 years and 269 days is their youngest skipper. But he has been off the pitch this afternoon with an arm injury and only made one with the bat. Top scorer was Gareth Harte with 20.

It is the 22nd time Durham have been bowled out for under 100 and the second time this year. It's the fifth time Derbyshire have removed a side for less than 100 since the year 2000. Durham's was the lowest score against them since they bowled out Essex for 94 in 2014.

  18. 100 runs

for Sean Dicksonpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Kent 216-2 v Gloucestershire

100, then out for Kent's South African batsman Sean Dickson against Gloucestershire at Bristol.

After hitting a boundary to reach the fifth first-class century of his career, just 15 deliveries later, he is gone, But there were two more fours and a six in between.

    Entertaining stuff!

  19. 100 runs

for Rory Burnspublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    Surrey 193-3 (48.3 overs) v Hampshire

Ben Foakes hits three fours in an over from Brad Taylor to reach a 77-ball fifty and bring up a century partnership with Rory Burns, who progresses to three figures for the second time in the Championship this season in the next over by calmly collecting a single off Gareth Berg. It has taken him only 135 balls and his innings has featured 13 fours.
