  1. Somerset almost therepublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 239-4 (65 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

After the rush of boundaries, the last two overs have been relatively calm but Somerset are only nine runs short of their target. Steven Davies is 40 not out, and Tom Abell has 39. Jake Libby is on now for Notts, who are resigned to their fate.

  2. Glos pair stand firmpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 273-6 (102 overs)

Graeme van Buuren and Kieron Noema-Barnett post a half-century partnership for Gloucestershire, who are 69 short of clearing the deficit. The draw is perhaps looking like the most likely result now, but it will only take one wicket for Kent to put the pressure back on the hosts.

  3. Davies boundary doublepublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 234-4 (63 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Not much left in this game now as Steven Davies clatters a lofted four off Samit Patel and then carves another boundary - his eighth - to end the over. The left-hander has 37 off 40 balls.

Billy Root is called up to bowl by Steven Mullaney - and Tom Abell helps himself to three fours in his first over. He is onto 38 not out and Somerset need 14 more.

  4. Abell hurries Somerset towards targetpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 216-4 (61 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Matt Carter is swept for four by Tom Abell and the Somerset batsman repeats the stroke two balls with the same result. Next, he brings out a reverse sweep, again for four, and it's a 50 partnership with Steven Davies in 10 overs. Only 32 more needed.

  5. Notts unluckypublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 199-4 (58 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

A slice of luck for Somerset skipper Tom Abell as a thick edge flies between the slips and runs away for four. It's the only scoring stroke from Samit Patel's latest over, but it means Somerset only need 49 more for victory - which would put them top of Division One.

They've certainly been in a hurry since tea. Maybe they were listening to The Smiths' 'A Rush and a Push.....' during the interval.

  6. Kent try mixed approachpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 259-6 (96 overs)

Mix and match by Kent after tea at Bristol with seam from Harry Podmore and spin from Joe Denly. No joy yet, though, and Graeme van Buuren picks up a boundary off Denly as he moves on to 33 not out. Kieron Noema-Barnett has 15 and Gloucestershire are now 83 in arrears.

  7. wicket

WICKET Hain b Lloyd 0published at 16:12 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 232-4 (73.5 overs)

    Sam Hain goes second ball.

Two wickets in the over for medium pacer David Lloyd.

As a suddenly rather concerned BBC Coventry & Warwickshire commentator Clive Eakin says: "You never know!"

Still 62 needed. Only six wickets in hand. But the Bears do bat a long way down.

Tim Ambrose is next man in.

  8. Davies off to a flyerpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 180-4 (53 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

We have a sub for a sub at Taunton as Tim Wyatt replaces Mark Footitt for Nottinghamshire. New Somerset batsman Steven Davies opens his account by lifting Matt Carter over extra cover for four. It's followed by two more boundaries, one to mid-wicket and one cut away square, and this is quite some start by the experienced left-hander. Carter almost puts a stop to it with his final delivery, which beats Davies but yields a bye. Somerset need another 68.

  9. wicket

WICKET Trott lbw Lloyd 67published at 16:10 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 232-3 (73.3 overs)

The 113-run stand is broken in the second over after tea. David Lloyd gives Glamorgan hope by removing Jonathan Trott.

Ian Bell just 20 away from a second ton in the match on 80.

  10. Final session under waypublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

An intriguing finish is in store at Taunton with Somerset and Notts seeking a victory which put them top of Division One.

In Division Two, Warwickshire are on course to beat Glamorgan, while Kent need four Gloucestershire wickets to win at Bristol.

    The denouements await......

  11. Bears on course to winpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 222-2 (72 overs)

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

The century stand between Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott has made light of a potentially tricky run chase for Warwickshire.

Andrew Salter claimed his second wicket two balls after lunch, but it has been relatively plain sailing for the experienced third wicket pair.

The pitch has remained slow despite occasional low bounce so, at tea, the Bears’ fourth straight win (and Glamorgan’s third straight defeat) look to be almost inked in.

  12. Essex getting up steampublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

Essex are looking ominously good again in defence of their title - especially now Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer are flourishing again.

Just as in 2017, they have won three of their first six matches. All, admittedly, have been narrow wins in dramatic games which could have gone either way - twice against last summer's runners-up Lancashire either side of a victory over Worcestershire.

Despite a change of boss over the winter, Anthony McGrath having replaced Chris Silverwood, the key to success is still having so many potential match-winners, especially in the bowling department.

"Our bowling was incredible," McGrath said after completing their three-day win over Lancs on Monday. "We were a bowler down in the second innings. Sam Cook's bowled a quarter fit there (shins). But someone always finds a way.

"Sam's done it, Simon's done it, Peter Siddle, Neil Wagner last year. This time it was Jamie. We just have a knack. And long may it continue."

  13. Kent prepare for final pushpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 232-6 - tea

    Matt Cole
    Sports Editor, BBC Radio Kent

At the start of the final day the draw was very much the favourite as a result at Bristol, but four wickets in the afternoon session have given Kent an excellent chance of claiming their fourth consecutive Championship victory.

After Harry Podmore had Gloucestershire skipper Chris Dent top edging behind for 76, Kent captain Joe Denly – aided by some rough at the Ashley Down Road End – struck to have James Bracey brilliantly caught low down by wicketkeeper Rouse for 27, and trapped Jack Taylor lbw for 15.

The new ball has brought one wicket so far, a rush of blood from Ryan Higgins seeing him edge to slip off Darren Stevens.

Gloucestershire’s hopes of saving the game now sit firmly on the shoulders of Graeme van Buuren and Kieran Noema-Barnett. They know how to frustrate the visitors, having held them off for more than a session on day three. With 30 overs left, they’ll need to do the same again.

WICKET Hildreth c Root b Carter 21published at 15:41 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 163-4 (50.5 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Tea is taken at Taunton after a superb one-handed short-leg catch by Billy Root puts paid to James Hildreth, with Matt Carter claiming a third wicket.

Having looked comfortable while Matt Renshaw was at the crease, Somerset now face a test of skill and nerve in the final session, with 85 more needed for victory. Tom Abell is nine not out, having begun the over of Hildreth's downfall by stroking Carter away through the covers for four.

How many well-known Carters can you think of? Michael Caine in Get Carter, Carter Brandon in TV sitcom I Didn't Know You Cared, actor Jim Carter from Downton, jailed then released boxer Rubin Hurricane Carter, superstar Beyonce Knowles-Carter.....

  16. Century stand at Edgbastonpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 222-2 (72 overs)

Warwickshire now within 72 runs of victory as Jonathan Trott takes 11 runs off the last over before tea from Andrew Salter.

It helps take their third-wicket stand to 103.

Trott is now the main aggressor on 65, catching up a becalmed Ian Bell, who has made 73.

  17. Women's one-dayer updatepublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

England are motoring along at Hove against South Africa, reaching 245-3 with 10 overs of their innings remaining. Tammy Beaumont made 101 off 109 balls and Sarah Taylor is still there on 89 not out.

  18. Tea approaches at Tauntonpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 158-3 (49 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Only a few minutes until the tea interval at Taunton. James Hildreth is 21 not out, with new partner Tom Abell on four after being beaten by a good one from Samit Patel which turned past the outside edge. Somerset require 90 more, Notts need seven wickets. It's cloudy overhead.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Jonathan Trottpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 208-2 (68.1 overs)

A second half century of the match for Jonathan Trott too - to follow Ian Bell's earlier example.

The Bears' victory target has psychologically eased by now having dipped under 100. Only 86 needed. With eight wickets left.

Bell is on 73, having looked in pretty good nick again, although possibly having just given half a bat/pad chance to short leg off spinner Andrew Salter.

A fourth win in five Championship games this season is looking more and more likely for last summer's chief top-flight casualties.

  20. wicket

WICKET Higgins c Dickson b Stevens 3published at 15:24 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 219-6 (85.2 overs)

Not a great stroke by Ryan Higgins who swishes at a ball outside off stump and edges to first slip. Kent just four wickets away from victory now as Kieron Noema-Barnett comes to the wicket. Gloucestershire need a repeat of his unbeaten 73 in the first innings.
