  2. 50 runs

for Benny Howellpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 84-0 (29 overs)

Kent head coach Matt Walker predicted stern resistance from Gloucestershire on a flat pitch in Bristol. Will his fears prove well-founded?

Chris Dent effortlessly puts away a half-tracker from Darren Stevens, and Benny Howell deals crisply with a leg-stump delivery by Matt Henry, which also disappears for four.

After playing out a maiden from Stevens, Howell's half-century finally arrives off 101 balls with a single in Henry's next over.

Gloucestershire are still 254 behind, though.

  4. Steady start for Derbyshirepublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Durham 96 & 376 v Derbyshire 205 & 85-4 (30 overs)

A pleasing start for Derbyshire at Chester-le-Street in pursuit of that unlikely victory target set by Durham of 268.

Ben Slater and Callum Brodrick have so far added 16 runs in the first five overs for the visitors - to complete a 50 partnership.

  5. Overton into the attackpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 v Nottinghamshire 134 & 476-8 (134 overs)

Scrub that (see 11:06 entry). Somerset call up England pace bowler Craig Overton to replace Dom Bess, but there are a couple of singles and a two for Notts.

The day's first boundary arrives in the next over as Luke Fletcher deftly flicks Roelof van der Merwe down to long leg. The visitors lead by 218.

  6. Somerset start with spinpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 v Nottinghamshire 134 & 468-8 (132 overs)

England's Dom Bess completes the over he began by dismissing Tom Moores last evening with five dot balls to Matt Carter. Roelof van der Merwe takes up the attack from the other end and it's a maiden to Luke Fletcher. We could be seeing an awful lot of spin today. Not 'awful' in the sense that the standard won't be high...oh, you know what we mean.

Nottinghamshire were second best for most of the first two days against Somerset at Taunton.

The game, though, turned on day three as a maiden first-class century by Tom Moores helped the visitors build a 210-run lead and set up a finish with all three results possible - or four, if you include a tie.

Watching every ball was head coach Peter Moores, and his son, who fell to the last ball of the day for 103, said: "My dad gave me a pat on the back and told me it was a day I would never forget. There was a sense of pride for both of us.

"Hopefully as a team we can add some more runs to put Somerset under pressure. We talked about it being a major challenge for us with the bat at the start of the day and the batsmen rose to it. Now we face a similar challenge with the ball."

  11. Glamorgan ready for Edgbaston 'grind'published at 10:47 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 25-0 - match resumes 11:00 BST

Batsman Usman Khawaja is hoping Glamorgan's bowlers can wear down Warwickshire on the final day at Edgbaston and inflict a first defeat of the season on the Division Two leaders.

Australia Test player Khawaja marked his debut for the Welsh county with 125 in their 323 all out, which left the home side facing a target of 294, which they reduced by 25 at the end of day three.

"I was still a bit jet-lagged in the first innings and didn't feel right, but it was nice to get some time in the middle," Khawaja told BBC Wales Sport.

"We knew a lead of 250-plus would be very nice when I came in. We got close to 300 and it can be one of those wickets where it can be a bit of a grind. It's not a very fast wicket. Hopefully we'll keep grinding, keep restricting them, bowl 10 good balls and win the game."

  12. Durham 'on front foot'published at 10:44 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Durham 96 & 376 v Derbyshire 205 & 69-4 - match resumes 11:00 BST

Durham batsman Gareth Harte admitted to being "stunned" by his own achievement after his 114 put them in a position to win on the final day against Derbyshire.

Harte made 114 and shared stands of 104 with tail-enders Nathan Rimmington (42) and 99 with Matt Critchley (25) as they made 376 in their second innings, a total boosted by 81 extras.

Derbyshire then lost four wickets before the close, chasing a target of 268.

"I'm really happy that I contributed today along with Matty and Rimmo. We really dug in and gave ourselves a chance," Harte told BBC Newcastle. "We're differently on the front foot now. I'm sure we're going to come out firing."

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 73-0 - match resumes at 11:00 BST

Kent head coach Matt Walker expects Gloucestershire to put up stubborn resistance as his side chase victory on the final day at Bristol.

They enforced the follow-on during day three, but the home side reached 73-0 at stumps and now have the task of trying to bat out three sessions for a draw.

"It's not a bowler-friendly surface at all, it looked like it got flatter and flatter as the day went on. But it was really pleasing with the way they stuck at it, I was really impressed with the attitude and energy," Walker told BBC Radio Kent.

"We're going to have to work very hard to try and force a win, but with a whole day to bat, it's going to be pressure on them and if we get an early breakthrough then you never know."

    Matt RenshawImage source, Rex Features

Australia batsman Matt Renshaw has been enjoying himself on the county circuit, with three Championship centuries for Somerset to his credit - but will it be thumbs up, or thumbs down today, as their home game against Nottinghamshire comes to a conclusion.

It's a simple scenario - win the match and go to the top of the Division One table, a position Notts held before this round of matches, only to be leapfrogged by Surrey and Essex, who won on Monday.

There are three Division Two matches ongoing as well, with Warwickshire and Derbyshire chasing targets against Glamorgan and Durham respectively, and Gloucestershire looking to keep Kent's attack at bay and salvage a draw.

Welcome to our coverage of the final day's play, which begins at 11:00 BST.
