The number of runs needed is down to double figures at Taunton after two fours by James Hildreth off Samit Patel, the first a pull through mid-wicket and the second a square cut.

But Matt Renshaw goes in the next over as Ross Taylor takes a smart catch to his left at first slip to give Matt Carter his second wicket - and seventh of the match.

  2. Somerset regroup at Tauntonpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 144-2 (43 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Somerset are working hard to ensure that one Notts breakthrough, removing George Bartlett, does not become two. Matt Carter turns one past the outside edge of Matt Renshaw's bat to end the last over. The Australian is 61 not out, James Hildreth has 11, and Somerset are 104 away from their target.

  3. Kent take new ballpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 213-5 (83 overs)

Kent left it for a couple of overs but the new ball has now been handed to Matt Henry and his first six deliveries with it produce a maiden. Darren Stevens takes up the attack at the other end.

  4. wicket

WICKET J Taylor lbw Denly 15published at 15:02 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 210-5 (78 overs)

Joe Denly deceives Jack Taylor in the flight and the umpire sends the Gloucestershire batsman on his way for 15. Two new batsmen at the crease now in Graeme van Buuren and Ryan Higgins and the new ball one over away, with the home side still 132 in arrears.

  5. Run-out scarepublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 187-2 (63 overs)

A single for Jonathan Trott that was far too close for comfort for a 37-year-old in his final season.

Given that is how he got out when batting with 36-year-old Bell in the first innings, not all that sensible, perhaps?

It's their second run-out scare of this 68-run stand too.

Trott now on 39. Bell on 64. 107 still needed.

  6. wicket

WICKET Bartlett b Carter 43published at 14:56 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 125.2 (36.2 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

    George BartlettImage source, Getty Images

Matt Carter is recalled for another spell by Steven Mullaney and strikes with his second delivery as George Bartlett under-edges onto his foot and ball rebounds into the stumps. An unfortunate way to lose your wicket, but Notts are happy to take it.

Bartlett contributed 41 to a stand of 96 with Matt Renshaw, who is 53 not out as James Hildreth joins him. Somerset are 123 away from their target.

Somerset are cruising along against Notts at Taunton but we gather this may be Matt Renshaw's final home appearance because of international commitments. So, Cider Boys fans, who would you like to see the county sign to replace him?

  8. wicket

WICKET Bracey c Rouse b Denly 27published at 14:50 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 200-4 (74 overs)

A soft wicket for Kent as Joe Denly sends one down well wide of off stump, James Bracey dangles his bat, and Adam Rouse takes the edge low down to send him on his way for 27. Six wickets now needed by the visitors and the new ball will be available for them in six overs.

  9. Somerset pair near century standpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 121-1 (34 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Ross Taylor divesImage source, Rex Features

Samit Patel finds the edge of Matt Renshaw's bat but it isn't a chance and the Australian remains on 52, with George Bartlett 41 not out.

Their partnership is worth 92 and Somerset need another 127 to win.

  10. New ball looming at Bristolpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 200-3 (72 overs)

A single by James Bracey carries Gloucestershire's total to 200. He has been fairly quiet since lunch, but has 27 to his name, with partner Jack Taylor on 13. Only eight overs to go before Kent get their hands on a new cherry. The home side still need 142 to avoid an innings defeat.

  11. 50 runs

for Matt Renshawpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 111-1 (30 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Matt Renshaw chops a ball from Steven Mullaney, which keeps a little low, away past slip for his seventh boundary and it brings up a 91-ball half-century. He's certainly in prime nick having made 106 in the first innings before giving his wicket away with a loose shot. Another 138 required by the home side.

  12. Lewis hails 'exceptional' victorypublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Durham 96 & 376 v Derbyshire 205 & 172

Durham completed a 95-run win over Derbyshire at the Riverside earlier on, a remarkable effort considering they were bowled out for 96 on the opening day.

Here's what head coach Jon Lewis had to say about it.

"In any circumstances it is a pretty exceptional win, particularly with such a young and generally inexperienced side. We are making a habit of forcing wins from seriously large first-innings deficits. It would be nice to do it the other way around but I'll take this one.

"We managed to win from a first-innings deficit at home to Leicester. Derbyshire away we had a first-innings lead but ran out of time to win. Some of them have not been the perfect performances over four days, but, in this one, the bowling has been persistent.

"The batsmen second time around? Well it was a tough pitch to get 380 on so that was a great effort from them."

  13. Somerset maintain good tempopublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 101-1 (28 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

The boundaries are starting to come a little too frequently for Nottinghamshire's liking. George Bartlett cover drives Matt Carter and Matt Renshaw, who will be badly missed by Somerset when he leaves for duty with Australia A, lifts Samit Patel over mid-wicket.

Somerset's total now has three figures and they require another 147 to victory. Steven Mullaney brings himself back on in place of Carter.

  14. 50 partnership for Bell & Trottpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 170-2 (54.3 overs)

Ian Bell now on 58, Jonathan Trott on 28. 124 still needed. And that is still a long way to go.

Especially as the Bears have three times chased more than this against Glamorgan at Edgbaston - and only once done so successfully.

In 1968, needing 362 to win, the great Rohan Kanhai made 106 - only for the Bears to lose by 30 runs.

In 1981, Geoff Humpage hit a century chasing 384 to win - only for Glamorgan to win by 35 runs.

But, in 1983, a stunning 243 not out from another West Indies great Alvin Kallicharran, accompanied by 123 from Andy Lloyd, helped the Bears make 417-2 to win by eight wickets.

  15. Sweep serves Somerset wellpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 89-1 (26 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Kent's short leg fielder wisely bows his head as George Bartlett swings the final ball of another Matt Carter over away for four runs. There is turn there for the two Notts spinners, who are now bowling in tandem, but can they make it count?

There are a couple of singles off Samit Patel in the next over before Matt Renshaw sweeps to the boundary. There are 52 overs left and Somerset need 159 more.

  16. wicket

WICKET Dent c Rouse b Podmore 76published at 14:14 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 240 & 182-3 (65 overs)

Brilliant work by Adam Rouse who takes the catch standing up to the stumps as Harry Podmore - by no means a 'military medium' seamer - finds the edge of Chris Dent's bat. That will certainly re-energise the visitors as they plug away in search of victory.

Dent and James Bracey put on 67 for the third wicket. Jack Taylor is the new Gloucestershire batsman.

  17. Patel takes up attackpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 72-1 (22.1 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Nottinghamshire skipper Steven Mullaney calls up Samit Patel for his first over of the innings. It almost brings the visitors a wicket as George Bartlett is lured from the crease, but the ball runs away for two leg byes. There is some spin there for the left-arm spinner.

Matt Carter drops short at the start of the next over and Matt Renshaw square cuts for four. He is 32 and another 176 are required by Somerset.

  18. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

Just a quick reminder that the second one-day international between England's women and South Africa is under way at Hove, with the hosts 94-1 after 17 overs. You can listen to that game by choosing the appropriate link at the top of the page.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Ian Bellpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Glamorgan 220 & 323 v Warwickshire 250 & 156-2 (50 overs)

After an unbeaten first-innings hundred, Ian Bell again has cause to raise his bat, this time for a second-innings half-century. Nine fours. 69 balls.

Having gone 32 matches without a County Championship century going back to April 2016 until he hit that first-innings ton, how ironic it would be if Bell were to get the next one in his very next knock!

Another 138 needed. The Bears are over halfway in their run chase.

  20. Renshaw shows good timingpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Somerset 392 & 65-1 (20 overs) v Nottinghamshire 134 & 505

Luke Fletcher starts a new over for Notts but immediately strays onto the pads of Matt Renshaw, who times it sweetly as he picks up four runs.

Fletcher bangs in a bouncer later in the over which soars way over Renshaw's head and is called as a no-ball by the umpire, but an excellent yorker forces the Australian to make a rapid adjustment to keep it out.

Plenty of effort from the Notts seamer, but no joy yet. Somerset need another 183, the visitors need nine wickets.
