  1. Notts 126-5published at 31 overs

    Mullaney 60, Root 13

It's an intriguing game now, as Notts settle down following the loss of those four early wickets.

From 23-4, the hosts are recovering, and Kent will want another wicket sharpish to get the breakthrough.

The two batsmen have a bit of a conflab in the middle at the end of Imran Qayyum's over.

  2. Notts 121-5published at 30 overs

    Mullany 59, Root 9

Another boundary from Mullaney, as Notts start to target Joe Denly.

    Notts 112-5

Steven Mullany brings up his half-century in style, paddling a delivery from Imran Qayyum round down the leg side for four.

If Notts can just get up to 230-240 then the pressure of a run chase in a knock-out game could be quite extreme, especially for a team who haven't been around cup final for a while.

  6. Notts 106-5published at 28 overs

    Mullaney 46, Root 7

Kent, who haven't been to Lord's since 2008, will be aiming to take advantage of their position and keep the pressure on Notts.

Mullaney is closing in on his half-century in the wind at Trent Bridge.

  7. Notts 102-5published at 27 overs

    Mullaney 44, Root 5

A more fruitful over this time for the Notts batsmen.

Billy Root cuts one square on the off side for a single, Steven Mullaney pushes one behind square on the off side, and good running gets three runs and brings up the 100.

Root gets another single to end the over.

  8. Notts 97-5published at 26 overs

    Mullaney 41, Root 3

Kent have been rattling through these overs with the two spinners on, getting the squeeze back on the Notts batsman.

Three runs come off Joe Denly's fourth over of the day, all singles.

Much now rests on the shoulders of Steven Mullaney, as the Outlaws skipper moves on to 41.

Luke Fletcher, Matthew Carter, Jake Ball, Harry Gurney are the men to come on the batting card.

  9. Notts 94-5published at 25 overs

    Mullaney 40, Root 1

Billy Root, brother of England Test captain Joe, is the new man and he's instantly beaten by the drift of Imran Qayyum.

Root works a single off his legs from the final ball and the Notts innings is at the halfway point.

To take you through the rest of the Notts innings will be Rob Stevens.

The speed of Joe Denly's over put the pressure back on Notts and it's paid off with a crucial wicket.

Samit Patel tried to loft Imran Quyyum over extra cover, but only picked out Heino Kuhn, who knocked the ball up in the air before claiming it at the second attempt.

The stand of 70 between Patel and Steven Mullaney is over.

  11. Notts 91-4published at 24 overs

Joe Denly rattled through that over and came out of it with a maiden.

    Just what Kent needed.

  12. Notts 91-4published at 23 overs

    Patel 26, Mullaney 39

Spin at both ends now as the slow left-arm of Imran Qayyum comes into the attack.

Just the three off a tidy first over, with the 25-year-old also beating the outside edge of Samit Patel's bat.

    That should give him confidence.

  13. 'Dangerous duo for Notts'published at 22 overs

When you have had such a good start the game, this part of the innings can sometimes drift for the bowling side.

It can drift away from you if you do not realise it and get things back together.

Notts were 23-4 and that shows how good that opening bowling partnership was for Kent.

These two individuals can be extremely dangerous when they get in. Mullaney is in great form and everyone knows the quality Patel possesses.

  14. Notts 88-4published at 22 overs

    Patel 25, Mullaney36

Joe Denly offers Samit Patel a fraction of width and the batsman steps onto the back foot and punches him to the cover boundary.

A single apiece to Patel and Steven Mullaney end the over as this pair continue to work Notts back into this game.

  15. Notts 82-4published at 21 overs

    Patel 20, Mullaney 36

Beautiful on-drive for four from Steven Mullaney to start Calum Haggett's fifth over before a wide and an overthrow gift Notts two more. That was sloppy from Kent.

Haggett pulls is back with a couple of dot balls to end the over but this partnership is now worth 59.

  16. Notts 75-4published at 20 overs

    Patel 19. Mullaney 31

Kent captain Sam Billings turns to spin for the first time as Joe Denly comes into the attack, bowling his leg-breaks.

Samit Patel drives to long-off to collect a single from the third ball of the over.

Steven Mullaney props forward to defend the fourth before steering a single to short third-man.

Good first over from Denly, who has been Kent's leading batsman in the competition.

  17. 'Crucial stage of the innings'published at 19 overs

    James Taylor
Ex-Notts batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It is a tough job for Sam Billings as he has been away with England and in the IPL. It's not easy to keep wicket, concentrate on your own game and marshal the troops.

You always have a set plan in mind of how you think the game is going to look; which bowlers are going to bowl where and how many they will have in a spell.

When you start well those plans go out of the window, as you might have to give a bowler one or two more overs than you were envisaging, and that has a knock-on effect.

Then you have to work it back and work out who is going to bowl your death overs, and then work back to the middle overs.

It is such a crucial stage of the game now to keep applying pressure on Nottinghamshire.

    Notts 73-4

Calum Haggett and Darren Stevens just haven't been able to tie the Nottinghamshire batsmen down like Matt Henry and Harry Podmore did in that opening burst.

A single off the third ball of the over from Samit Patel brings up the 50 partnership.

Just what the home side needed after that disastrous start.

  19. Notts 71-4published at 18 overs

    Patel 17, Mullaney 29

Darren Stevens continues and it's a much tighter start to the over, with only a single coming from the first three balls as he homes in on the stumps rather than giving the batsmen width.

The last three balls are all dabbed down to third man for singles as the Notts pair keep the scoreboard ticking over.

  20. Notts 67-4published at 17 overs

    Patel 15, Mullaney 27

Samit Patel is showing signs of getting into his stride now, steering Calum Haggett to the leg-side fence.

Seven off the over and Nottingshamshire are just starting to gather some momentum.

They still have plenty of work to do, though.
