  1. Yorks 20-2published at 4 overs

    Lyth 7, Ballance 9

    Marvellous from Gary Ballance.

The England batsman clips Matt Coles through mid-wicket to the rope for Yorkshire's first boundary. Pure timing.

That's a much better over for Yorkshire - 10 from it.

    Notts 255-8 (50 overs)

A wicket from the last over means Nottinghamshire finish on 255-8.

Kent will have some chasing to do, and may be somewhat frustrated after having the hosts at 23-4 in the 10th over.

But Steven Mullaney anchored the recovery, with help from Billy Root and then Luke Fletcher.

The Outlaws then accelerated the scoring, with 80 runs came off the last nine overs, as Steven Mullaney got 90 and Luke Fletcher finished 53 not out.

We'll be back in about 40 minutes for the Spitfires chase.

  3. Yorks 10-2published at 3 overs

    Lyth 4, Ballance 3

Jamie Porter is on the money once again for Essex, conceding just three runs from his second over.

    Very tidy from the 25-year-old.

    Carter c Blake b Haggett 17 (Notts 255-8)

First ball of the final over from Calum Haggett gets sent straight back down the ground by Matthew Carter for a massive six which lands on the steps of the pavilion.

Three balls to go and they go for two runs. Luke Fletcher somehow makes it as the throw is wide from the fielder.

Another unorthodox stroke from Fletcher, but he gets a single.

Last ball is a full toss, which is caught at deep midwicket by Alex Blake as Matthew Carter departs on the final ball.

  5. Yorks 7-2published at 2 overs

    Lyth 3, Ballance 1

It's the end of another fruitful over for Essex.

Adam Lyth and Gary Ballance are the two most experienced batsmen in Yorkshire's side - they'll need to use plenty of that to rebuild this innings.

  6. Notts 245-7published at 49 overs

    Fletcher 50, Carter 10

    Matt Henry ends with 10-3-43-1.

Another good over for Notts, and Calum Haggett will bowl the final one.

    Fabian Cowdrey
Former Kent all-rounder on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

This is the first time this season that Matt Henry doesn't know where to bowl.

He's going round the park and it's one of the bowlers who's doing it!

    50 - Luke Fletcherpublished at 49 overs

    Fletcher 50, Carter 10

Matt Henry is back for his final over, and Matthew Carter takes a single from the first ball.

Luke Fletcher flicks one away for six on the deep backward square leg boundary.

The he smashes one straight up in the air but Henry can't get there as it drops safely at mid-on. The batsmen run two somehow while all that is happening.

Then a wide-ish delivery, edged for four.

Finally he gets a top edge for four to bring up his 50. He takes his helmet off and salutes the crowd.

A great knock off 33 balls, with seven 4s and two 6s.

    Brook b Coles 2 (Yorks 5-2)

Yorkshire are in all sorts of strife now.

Harry Brook attempts to cut Matt Coles away, but chops it onto his stumps.

The ball was too close to the 19-year-old to be doing that. Gary Ballance is in at four.

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

This is a very handy partnership. Nottinghamshire are getting the initiative and the momentum going into their bowling innings.

They have a very experienced bowling line-up with plenty of variation, giving Steven Mullaney plenty of options.

  11. Yorks 2-1published at 1 over

    Lyth 1, Brook 1

That's a cracking first over from Jamie Porter, including the wicket of Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

The seamer swings a couple more back into Adam Lyth before going past his outside edge with the final delivery.

Teenager Harry Brook is in at three for the visitors.

  12. Notts 228-7published at 48 overs

    Fletcher 34, Carter 9

Calum Haggett is back on for Kent.

Matthew Carter grabs a single before Luke Fletcher heaves him away to long on.

Carter then clips a six to deep square leg with a tremendous stroke. The next, he defends.

Then he gets a single from a delivery just outside off. Fletcher ends the over with an agricultural shot which goes to the fine third edge boundary.

Thirteen much-needed runs for Notts off the over.

    That didn't take long!

Jamie Porter nips his second delivery back into Tom Kohler-Cadmore, it hits him on the pads and up goes the finger.

    He's out first ball.

Superb start for Essex and their leading paceman.

  14. Notts 215-7published at 47 overs

    Fletcher 29, Carter 1

Luke Fletcher is enjoying himself as the Notts tail wags.

Matt Henry is a bit peeved as he goes for consecutive fours.

Then Fletcher misses a short ball, which goes straight to Sam Billings behind, and he's frustrated.

Henry gives him another short ball to finish the over with a dot.

    Essex v Yorkshire (14:00 BST)

Essex have England opener Alastair Cook available and he comes into the side alongside experienced New Zealand seamer Neil Wagner.

Captain Ryan ten Doeschate is missing as he starts a two-game ban for repeated disciplinary breaches.

Yorkshire are without their contingent of big names as they have to make four changes from the side that secured their place in the knock-out stages by beating Northants.

England trio Joe Root, David Willey, Adil Rashid and India's Cheteshwar Pujara are all missing for the Tykes from that line-up.

Essex: Alastair Cook, Varun Chopra, Tom Westley, Dan Lawrence, Ravi Bopara, Adam Wheater, Ashar Zaidi, Matt Coles, Simon Harmer, Jamie Porter, Neil Wagner.

Yorkshire: Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Jack Leaning, Harry Brook, Tim Bresnan, Jonathan Tattersall, Matthew Fisher, Steven Patterson, Karl Carver, Ben Coad.

Big, big wicket as Harry Podmore strikes to remove the Notts captain.

Steven Mullaney clips one to the edge of the circle at short third man, where he is caught by Imram Qayyum.

A brilliant innings from him as he helped his side recover from 23-4.

But that is a great breakthrough from Kent, who are probably smelling blood now.
