  1. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

Here's the latest in our Division Two matches...

We could well be heading for an early finish at Lord's - where Middlesex are 29-1 on second innings after bowling Sussex out for 171. That's just two more runs than the hosts made first up.

    The hosts lead by 27.

Leicestershire are 78-5 against Gloucestershire at Bristol, where Craig Miles has removed Mark Cosgrove and Neil Dexter for just eight runs between them. They trail by 124.

Warwickshire have moved ahead of Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay, where the visitors have 226-4 with Ian Bell on 104 not out.

He reached his century off 194 balls with 13 fours and has passed a career tally of 20,000 first class runs.

The hosts were dismissed for 202.

Durham are struggling on 98-5 but this is a low scoring game at the Riverside and it's hard to tell what a par target would be. The hosts need more runs though as they only lead Northants by 25.

Kent are firmly in charge at Derby where they've put Derbyshire to the sword, racking up 561-8, with number nine Matt Henry on 81 not out.

Lunch over... But Onions is still prominent on the menu at Southport.

Lancashire’s Graham Onions, who removes Brett D’Oliveira. The ninth wicket of the day to fall so far.

  3. Berg back in the attackpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 114-1 v Hampshire

He's gun barrel straight here and the batsmen manage a single each in the over.

So far so good this afternoon for the hosts.

  4. Can anyone help Livingstone?published at 13:58 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 56-4 (lead by 117 runs)

You've got to love this tweet from Lancashire captain Liam Livingstone!

The all-rounder has been out with a fractured thumb but was warming up in the nets before play started at Southport this morning.

So can anyone help him get a game on Saturday?

    Yorkshire 65-2 v Somerset 399

Jamie Overton is generating some serious pace here and nearly gets the better of Gary Ballance with one that beats him outside the off.

May well be the quickest bowling we've seen in the match so far.

    Essex 111-1 v Hampshire

    EssexImage source, Rex Features

After 13 runs in the first two overs batting was made to look like very hard work, with Ian Holland and Liam Dawson in particular both posing problems with movement and a bit of low bounce before the break.

The umpires are on their way to the square.

Varun Chopra is on 55 not out and Tom Westley has 38.

  10. Steady start for Yorkshire after lunchpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 44-3 (lead by 105 runs)

Play resumes after lunch - Worcestershire lead by 105 runs but only have seven more wickets to play with, and to set relegation rivals Lancashire a tough total.

  12. Second session starts at Headingleypublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 56-2 v Somerset 399

Somerset have plenty of runs in the bank but would've hoped for more and they'll be kicking themselves about the let off when Adam Lyth was dropped on five.

Huge relief for Marcus Trescothick that the Kane Williamson drop only cost four runs.

He's back in the middle now with Gary Ballance.

    Lewis Gregory bowls...

  13. Bell closing in on centurypublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Glamorgan 203 v Warwickshire 209-4

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

It’s been Warwickshire’s first session at Colwyn Bay as they added 93 runs for the loss of nightwatchman Chris Wright, bowled by Craig Meschede for 16.

Ian Bell survived a few false shots early on, twice edging Ruaidhri Smith past leg stump, to reach 89 not out at lunch with some graceful drives.

He has now scored 310 against Glamorgan this season without being out.

Sam Hain reached 29 not out at lunch with the title-chasing visitors looking set to take control of the game.

  14. Kent tail wags mightily well before lunchpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Derbyshire v Kent 534-8 (126 overs)

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Derby

Kent’s batsman did their job yesterday, getting to 365-6 yesterday.

The good work wasn’t carried on by the lower order, with Grant Stewart and Matt Henry, coming in at eight and nine respectively, battering the ball to all parts this morning after Daniel Bell-Drummond’s early departure.

    Image caption,

Grant Stewart was 15 runs away from his second test century before he was bowled

Their 119-run partnership has put Kent in a marvellous position, and meant they got maximum bonus batting points for the first time this season.

Indeed, Stewart and Henry have set themselves up rather nicely to bowl at the Derbyshire batting line up later.

There’s been no declaration yet, but expect it to come in the lunch interval.

  15. Result inevitable at Lord'spublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Middlesex 169 & 19-1 v Sussex 167

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Another five wickets have fallen this morning to add to the 16 yesterday, and with a good weather forecast a result in this game looks almost inevitable.

The pitch is still offering help to the seamers - illustrated by the fact that none of the 116 overs bowled so far in the match have been spin - although overhead conditions are much better than yesterday when the floodlights were on for much of the day.

Middlesex know they must win to have any chance of remaining in the promotion race. It's making for an intriguing contest.

  16. Somerset happier at Headingleypublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 56-2 v Somerset 399

    Isabelle Westbury
    Former Middlesex captain at Headingley

An entertaining few overs to start the day saw Somerset fall short of a fifth bonus point by just one run.

Jack Leach was the last wicket to fall when, with the score on 399, he shouldered a rising delivery from David Willey to a brilliant catch in the slips by Adam Lyth.

Despite this frustration, Somerset were quickly on top in the field when Harry Brook was bowled by a searing delivery from Lewis Gregory.

When Lyth and Kane Williamson were then both dropped in the slips early into their innings, things looked to be veering back Yorkshire’s way.

However with the wicket of Williamson for 18 just before lunch, Somerset will be feeling the happier of the two.

  17. Kent firmly in control at Derbypublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Derbyshire v Kent 534-8

    Dave Fletcher
BBC Radio Derby Sport at the County Ground

Promotion-chasing Kent tightened their grip on the game at derby as they moved on to 534-8 in their first innings at lunch.

Daniel Bell-Drummond went early only for Grant Stewart (85) and Matt Henry to add 119 for the seventh wicket.

At lunch, Henry was on 68 not out as Derbyshire awaited the declaration.

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire

And that's lunch at The Oval.

Surrey add another 119 runs to their overnight total, with Mark Stoneman converting his century and going on to score 144.

The Division One leaders probably take that session, but Notts will be confident of matching the hosts with the bat when they begin their innings after the break.

  20. wicket

WICKET Virdi b Patel 19published at 13:12 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire

Surrey tailender Amar Virdi is running riot - hitting three fours and a massive six to reach his highest first-class score.

But he is then comprehensively bowled by Samit Patel for 19 and Surrey are all out for 375 at The Oval.
