  1. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 111-1 v Hampshire

Well, who'd have thought Liam Dawson would bowl eight overs before lunch today after yesterday's washout?

The spinner gets one to keep low and Chopra has to jab down at the last second.

He strides forward to block the sixth ball - and that's lunch.

Good effort from this pair after Nick Browne fell early.

The bowlers won't be too disheartened though as there's a bit of movement and turn on this surface.

  2. Hampshire press for wicketspublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 111-1 v Hampshire

Ooh! Chopra goes for a huge drive and misses a big fizzing off break from Liam Dawson.

Extended session here after the loss of day one to rain.

Lunch will be at 13:10 BST.

Lovely shot from Tom Westley who belts Ian Holland through mid wicket for four.

Holland tightens his line and Westley plays and misses outside off stump. The last ball beats batsman and keeper and goes for four byes.

    So frustrating for the bowler.

  3. Interval at Headingleypublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 56-2 v Somerset 399

Yorkshire will be pleased to see the back of Kane Williamson after shelling a chance when he was on 14, but Adam Lyth remains after another drop reprieved him on five.

Gary Ballance aims sliced off Craig Overton safely into the off side - no run.

The White Rose make it through to lunch two down. Adam Lyth has 20 and Ballance has four.

Somerset's morning but the hosts are still in this.

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 44-3 (lead by 105 runs)

Lunch at Southport with Worcestershire 44-3, leading Lancashire by 105 runs.

The hosts started day two on 96-5 but the Pears dismissed them for 161, with Josh Tongue taking 5-63.

Worcestershire had a 61-run lead but have struggled to build on that, losing Daryl Mitchell, Tom Fell and Joe Clarke before the break.

  5. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

Plenty to keep you interested in the second division matches...

Middlesex are 18-0 in their second innings at Lord's after bowling Sussex out for 171 in a close call at Lord's, with the visitors just two runs ahead on first innings. The hosts lead by 16.

Leicestershire are four down at Bristol, where Gloucestershire's Craig Miles bowled Mark Cosgrove for six. The visitors are 128 behind on 74-4.

Warwickshire are progressing steadily at Colwyn Bay where they're 200-4 against Glamorgan, trailing by just three.

Durham continue to struggle at the Riverside where they're 73-5 against Northants and only four ahead. Richard Gleeson has three wickets in the innings.

After a century for Joe Denly and 96 for Zak Crawley yesterday Kent are racking up a huge score away to Derbyshire - where they now have 528-8 with Grant Stewart dismissed, bowled by Alex Hughes for 85.

  6. 350 up for Surreypublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 351-9 v Nottinghamshire

It's not textbook but Conor McKerr steers Surrey to 350 runs, taking them another point clear at the top of Division One.

Amar Virdi has survived eight balls without scoring, leaving McKerr ticking along on 13 runs.

Luke Wood is searching for his fourth wicket for Notts to end the Surrey innings...

This has been a redeeming effort from Varun Chopra, who only had 132 Championship runs to his name in 10 innings before this game.

He gets there in 99 balls with a single to fine leg off Fidel Edwards. Seven fours in that knock.

  8. wicket

    Yorkshire 52-2 v Somerset 399

    Breakthrough!

Kane Williamson's second life (granted when he he was on 14) is ended by Craig Overton, who bowls a bumper which the batsman fences to Jack Leach in front of square on the off side.

Dropped catch off Williamson on 14published at 12:44 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 42-1 v Somerset 399

Huge slice of luck for the White Rose as Williamson edges Craig Overton and Marcus Trescothick can't hang on.

    Could be very costly.

  13. Surrey chase another batting pointpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 339-8 v Nottinghamshire

We've played 100 overs at The Oval, meaning Surrey have 10 more overs to secure a fourth batting point.

They're 339-8, 11 runs adrift of the 350-mark, with Mark Stoneman (144*) taking the lead role alongside Conor McKerr, who is two not out.

    Yorkshire 34-1 v Somerset 399

Josh Davey steams into Adam Lyth who defends outside the off.

Just a couples of extras off a no ball in the over.

  15. wicket

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 16-2 (lead by 77 runs)

Joe Clarke has his middle stump knocked five yards back by Tom Bailey, who gets his sixth wicket of the match.

It looks like the ball comes back a long way and it beats Clarke's defences comprehensively.

Alex Milton in for Worcestershire and is on a pair - Worcestershire are 16-2 and leading by 77 runs.

  16. Hampshire searching for second wicketpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 73-1 v Hampshire

    Tom WestleyImage source, Rex Features

James Vince is juggling his bowlers quite a bit this morning, with five used already and now Fidel Edwards is back into the attack.

Chopra drives and gets a single into the off side.

Tom Westley gets one off a leg side ball behind square and Chopra clatters the last ball through mid off for four.

  17. wicket

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 14-1 (lead by 75 runs)

Tom Bailey led the way for Lancashire in the first innings, taking 4-41, and he has his first victim of the second innings.

He traps Worcestershire's Daryl Mitchell lbw for seven runs and they're 14-1, leading Lancashire by 75 runs at Southport.

Surely we can't get a result here today?!

  18. Adam Lyth attacks after reprieve on 5published at 12:25 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 26-1 v Somerset 399

Shot! Lewis Gregory over-pitches and Adam Lyth drives through point for four.

Just the four slips in place...

  19. Stoneman survives lbw shoutpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 326-8 v Nottinghamshire

A first real scare of the day for Mark Stoneman, with Harry Gurney having a strong lbw appeal turned down.

Surrey's Stoneman is 132 not out with Surrey 326-8 at The Oval.

If Stoneman is not out when the leaders are finally dismissed he will emulate Rory Burns, who 'carried his bat' in making 219* against Hampshire last summer.

    Essex 62-1 v Hampshire
