WICKETpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Brown lbw Bresnan 10 (Lancs 31-2 - target 230)

Both openers now gone at Headingley as that old Roses match warhorse Tim Bresnan strikes with the second ball of his second over - Karl Brown trapped leg before wicket, with one that might have kept a bit low.

Skipper Liam Livingstone comes in to join his predecessor as Lancashire captain, Steven Croft.

The final hour and half of the day will prove very interesting.

  2. Back under way at New Roadpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Worcestershire 336 & 167-4, Surrey 268

The final session of day three has begun and Ed Barnard is the new man in at New Road.

Joe Clarke, who did not field this morning after a back spasm, has been free to return since 2.27. But he again remains in the pavilion - and his old Shropshire and England Under-19s team-mate Barnard is sent in instead to join Ross Whiteley.

Worcestershire now lead by 235. Even a side as good as Surrey will not be wanting to chase too many more than that.

    Sussex 122-8, target 321

Durham are two wickets away from triumphing at Chester-le-Street.

Some of the batting in this match has left a lot to be desired!

  4. Essex begin run-chase at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Essex 4-0, target 282

Essex are out to start their second-innings after tea, needing 282 to beat Notts.

Nick Browne finds the rope through the covers with the first ball from Luke Fletcher and the defending champions are off and running.

  5. Scores at teapublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

We're at tea in four of our remaining six matches, so it seems a good time for a run-down of all the latest scores.

    Division One

    • Yorkshire 209 & 272 v Lancashire 252 & 11-1 (target 230)
    • Worcestershire 336 & 157-4 v Surrey 268
    • Nottinghamshire 177 & 337 v Essex 233 (target 282)

    Division Two

    • Durham 103 & 340 v Sussex 122 & 116-8 (target 322)
    • Glamorgan 137 & 135-7 v Gloucestershire 353
    • Northamptonshire 255 & 49-1 v Derbyshire 222
  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Davies c Tattersall b Coad 8 (Lancashire 11-1)

    Early breakthrough for Yorkshire.

Alex Davies is caught behind off Ben Coad.

There has been a weakness about Lancashire's top order efforts all season, Davies's first-innings 87 proving a notable exception.

Suddenly, that 230-run target seems a long way away.

Although two leg-bye boundaries off Jack Brooks means that Extras are now top score on 10 as the total quickly moves on to 19-1.

  7. WARWICKSHIRE BEAT LEICESTERSHIRE BY AN INNINGS AND 104 RUNSpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Leicestershire 100 & 196 v Warwickshire 400-9 dec

Keith Barker gets a five-for for Warwickshire as they bowl Leicestershire out for 196 in their second innings to win by an innings and 104 runs at Grace Road.

It takes the Bears back to the top of Division Two.

Dom Sibley's ton with the bat was also a highlight - Warwickshire and Kent are pulling away in those promotion places.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Fell b Morkel 89 (Worcs 336 & 157-4, Surrey 268)

Tom Fell misses out on a century as he is bowled by an inswinging Morne Morkel yorker for 89 in the final over before tea, but that is still a great effort.

His second half-century of the match against leaders Surrey.

In fact, of his five fifties this season, three have come against the side who will be crowned county champions. This one was his season's best, just edging the 88 he got at The Oval in May. Something to be proud of for a man who has made such a brave return to first-class cricket following his cancer scare.

Needless to say, he gets a great reception on his way back to the pavilion.

They have now taken tea - with one ball to come from Morkel in this over when they resume.

  9. Lancashire start their replypublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Yorkshire 209 & 272, Lancashire 252 & 3-0

With 230 needed to win, two no balls Jack Brooks helpfully get the Lancashire reply off to a start at Headingley.

Alex Davies then gets the first runs off the bat.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Footitt c Wheater b Porter 4 (Notts 337 - Essex need 282 to win)

Jamie Porter strikes again, getting an edge from Mark Footitt with Adam Wheater taking the catch with a superb dive to his right.

Footitt out for four, Notts all out for 337 and Essex need 282 to win at Trent Bridge.

Hard to pick a winner - they've taken tea and the run-chase will begin in around 20 minutes.

    Division Two round-up

Warwickshire need just one more wicket to beat Leicestershire and go back above Kent to the top of Division Two.

Leicestershire are 196-9 in their second innings, needing another 105 runs to make the Bears bat again.

Gloucestershire and Durham are both three wickets from comfortable victories over Glamorgan and Sussex respectably.

Chris Rushworth has match figures of 12-95 for Durham!

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Milton c Pope b Morkel 24 (Worcs 154-3)

Alex Milton is caught behind off Morne Morkel, a first wicket for the big South African.

The Pars now lead by 22 after Milton's 63-run stand with Tom Fell, who is still there on 87 - within 13 runs of a first Championship ton since 2015.

Ross Whiteley is next in, as Joe Clarke continues to be held back following a morning back spasm.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

Patel lbw Porter 11 (Notts 331-9, lead by 275)

Samit Patel is the fifth Notts batsman to fall lbw - Jamie Porter the bowler on this occasion.

He goes for 11, with Notts 331-9 and leading by 275 as Mark Footitt comes to the crease to join Luke Wood.

The first 10 Notts batsmen have all reached double figures though none of them have gone on to record really big totals, with Kraigg Brathwaite top-scoring on 68.

    Notts 177 & 331-8 v Essex 233

Cloud covering the sun at Trent Bridge but still a pleasant mid-September afternoon in Nottingham.

Notts are 331-8 with Samit Patel (11) and Luke Wood (12) trying to take their lead over Essex to over 300 runs.

At the moment that buffer is 275, with tea not far away.

  15. No Jimmy at Finals Day - except in the TMS boxpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

The ECB have put out a new directive to confirm England hero Jimmy Anderson definitely WON’T be playing for Lancashire at T20 Blast Finals Day this Saturday.

In theory, he was one of three Lancashire players who played in the Final Test against India who were made available by England, when they put out their original advisory email this morning.

But, while Jos Buttler and Keaton Jennings are both expected to play at Edgbaston, Jimmy himself will actually be working for BBC Radio on Saturday as part of the TMS commentary team on 5 Live Sports Extra.

Anderson hasn't played T20 cricket since being part of the Lancashire side who lost to the Bears in the 2014 final at Edgbaston.

  16. 'It's down to the wire' - Billingspublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Kent 192 & 157-7 beat Middlesex 161 & 186 by three wkts

Kent are back on top of Division Two after somewhat nervily disposing of Middlesex at Lord's by three wickets this morning.

They ought to be back in second place shortly once Warwickshire have completed their expected victory over Leicestershire at Grace Road. But, if third-placed Sussex fail to chase down 322 to beat Durham at Chester-le-Street, that should make the top two feel more secure.

To add to the picture, Sussex next week host Warwickshire, who then host Kent in the final round of fixtures.

Kent captain Sam BillingsImage source, Get

“If I’m totally honest," Kent captain Sam Billings told BBC Sport, "we know this division is going down to the wire.

"We play Warwickshire in the last game, but all our focus is completely on Glamorgan at Canterbury next week and trying to get a result there.

"We can’t do anything about other teams, neither can we afford to take our eye off the ball in a three-horse race. We want to be in positions like this. Now it’s a matter of getting over the finish line.”

    James c Ten Doeschate b Harmer 13 (Notts 315-8, lead by 259)

Notts debutant Lyndon James hit his first boundaries in first-class cricket but becomes Simon Harmer's sixth victim.

He's caught by Ryan ten Doeschate at short leg for 13 and Notts have a lead of 259 over Essex, on 315-8.

Luke Wood in with Samit Patel - Harmer with season's best figures of 6-75.

  18. Bears, Glos & Durham close to victorypublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Division Two round-up

It looks like we're close to results at Sophia Gardens and Grace Road...

Keith Barker and Jeetan Patel have seven wickets between them to put Warwickshire on the verge of an innings victory at Leicestershire. The hosts are 157-7 in their second innings at Grace Road, 143 adrift of the Foxes' first-innings total.

Glamorgan are 117-7 in their second innings and still 99 runs adrift of Gloucestershire. Craig Miles has 4-23 on the day his departure to Warwickshire was announced.

Chris Rushworth has 11 match wickets for Durham, who also seem to be closing in on victory over third-placed Sussex at Chester-le-Street. The visitors are 76-5 - needing a further 246 to win - they've just lost opener Tom Haines for 40.

We're not close to a result at Wantage Road, where Northants are 30-1 in their second innings against Derbyshire, who were dismissed for 222. It's a 63-run lead for Northants so far.

    Brooks c Croft b Gleeson 1 (Yorks 209 & 272, Lancs 252)

    Yorkshire are all out.

Jack Brooks is last man out, edging Richard Gleeson to slip.

    Tom Bailey finished with 4-69.

Lancashire will need 230 to win in the Roses match.

But we will have to wait another 20 minutes to find out how they fare, as they have taken tea at Headingley.

  20. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Notts 177 & 304-7 v Essex 233

Notts pass the 300 mark and their lead over Essex is 248 runs.

Murali Vijay drops Samit Patel in the slips and then heads straight off the field - an injury perhaps?

Essex have missed several opportunities and it's catching up with them (pardon the pun).
