  6. Bears doing the businesspublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Leicestershire 100 & 69-4, Warwickshire 400-9 dec

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Warwickshire have been thoroughly professional in this game so far and continued that businesslike approach this morning, to set up a clear chance of a three-day victory.

Their pursuit of a full hand of batting bonus points turned out to have been expertly paced, Chris Woakes and Jeetan Patel requiring just 10 of the available 12 balls to lash the 16 runs required to earn the fifth.

Patel instantly declared, keeping the game fully in round figures, with a lead of 300, and, in an extended opening spell, Keith Barker claimed the first three Leicestershire wickets without the assistance of any of his colleagues - two clean bowled, one LBW.

Patel himself then appeared with an arm ball that befuddled the hitherto diligent Harry Dearden on several occasions before he played back to it once too often in the final over before lunch.

  7. Misery goes on for Glamorganpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

Glamorgan 6-3, trail by 211 runs

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Gloucestershire are already heading for a three-day victory in Cardiff after the departing Craig Miles claimed three wickets in the opening two overs of the second innings.

Strangely news of Miles’ departure to Warwickshire broke while he was at the crease, adding some useful tail-end runs with David Payne.

Timm van der Gugten, who finished with 4-66 in 38 overs, dismissed Gloucestershire’s overnight batsmen, Ben Charlesworth for 66 and Jack Taylor for his season’s best 112.

For Glamorgan, the misery goes on.

  8. Scores at lunchpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

We're at lunch in our seven remaining matches - this is how the land lies:

    Division One

    • Worcestershire 336 & 38-0 v Surrey 268
    • Nottinghamshire 177 & 208-4 v Essex 233

    Division Two

    • Durham 103 & 332-6 v Sussex 122
    • Glamorgan 137 & 6-3 v Gloucestershire 353
    • Leicestershire 100 & 69-4 v Warwickshire 400-9 dec
    • Northamptonshire 255 v Derbyshire 189-8
  9. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Notts 177 & 208-4 v Essex 233

Essex fight back in the last hour after Notts had dominated at Trent Bridge.

Notts captain Steve Mullaney is on one, alongside Ben Duckett who is 12 not out with the hosts leading by 152 runs.

Nine more overs after lunch until the second new ball becomes available for Essex.

  10. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Worcestershire 336 & 38-0, Surrey 268

After conceding a 68-run first-inning to bottom side Worcestershire, Surrey have so far failed to make a second-innings breakthrough at New Road.

Worcestershire openers Daryl Mitchell (14) and Tom Fell (17) have come through a tricky 13 overs against Tom Curran, Jade Dernbach and two overs of Surrey's main man Morne Morkel to reach 38-0.

The visitors had needed maximum batting points to seal a first title triumph since 2002 but, after resuming on 213-6, they lost their last four wickets for 55 runs.

  11. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Yorkshire 209 & 219-6, Lancashire 252

A 176-run lead for Yorkshire on day three in Leeds.

Tim Bresnan on 8. Matthew Waite on 4.

Lancashire have claimed three morning wickets, two of them going to South Africa Test left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, who removed both overnight batsmen Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Gary Ballance LBW.

But the Red Rose need four more afternoon wickets and pretty cheaply.

Admittedly they made 317 to win in the fourth innings to beat Worcestershire at Southport 12 days ago. But, in this climate, at Headingley, in the nerve-jarring tension of a Roses match, you wouldn't fancy them chasing much more than 200 to win.

This Roses match is still very much in the balance.

  12. Durham make hay in sunshinepublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Durham 103 & 319-6 v Sussex 122

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

A fantastic innings by Cameron Steel has just come to an end with the young opener out for 160, his second highest score in first-class cricket.

After all of the chaos of yesterday, when 11 wickets fell by lunch, Steel has helped to turn this game with a knock which restored calm in Chester-le-Street.

Steel faced 273 balls and added partnerships of 72 with Alex Lees, 55 with Michael Richardson and 79 with Paul Collingwood.

Sussex were desperate to get the new ball in their hands but have struggled to make an impact with it. Paul Collingwood, whose highest championship score this season was 44 at Arundel, now has 38.

Collingwood interestingly shook the hand of every Durham player earlier - how much should we read into that?

    Libby b Harmer 15 (Notts 199-4, lead by 143)

Off-break bowler Simon Harmer has his third wicket for Essex.

He beats the edge and pads of Jake Libby and knocks back his off-stump.

Libby out for 15 - that's two quick wickets for Harmer and Notts are 199-4, leading by 143 at Trent Bridge.

Jonny Tattersall becomes the third victim for Tom Bailey. A thin edge. Caught behind.

Matthew Waite the new man in. Off the mark first ball with a four.

    The Tykes' lead is 175.

Fletcher lbw Harmer 39 (Notts 194-3, lead by 138 runs)

    Simon HarmerImage source, Rex Features

He wasn't scoring at a particularly fast tempo but Luke Fletcher has played a very handy innings, falling LBW to Simon Harmer for 39.

It's a very similar dismissal to that of Kraigg Brathwaite, with Fletcher - who was nightwatchman last evening - caught on his back foot.

The introduction of Ben Duckett could increase the run-rate, with Notts 194-3 against Essex with a lead of 138.

  16. Bears closing in on victorypublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Division Two round-up

With Kent having beaten Middlesex by three wickets this morning, there are still four games ongoing...

Warwickshire look poised to return to the top of Division Two - they have Leicestershire 48-3 in their second innings and lead by 252 runs at Grace Road. Keith Barker has taken a timely 3-17 on the day the Bears signed fellow fast bowler Craig Miles for next season.

Durham's Cameron Steel has moved to 156 not out - they're 293-5 against promotion-chasers Sussex and closing in on a third batting point. Durham lead by 274 runs there.

Jack Taylor has gone for 111 for Gloucestershire, who are now 337-8 in their first innings and leading Glamorgan by 200 runs at Sophia Gardens.

Derbyshire are 167-7 in their first innings against Northants, who made 255. That one seems in the balance.

  17. Decent start for Pearspublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 12 September 2018

    Worcestershire 336 & 19-0, Surrey 268

A tidy start for Worcestershire at New Road as Division One's bottom club look to build on their 68-run first-innings lead against table-toppers Surrey.

Daryl Mitchell and Tom Fell survive the first five overs from Tom Curran and Jade Dernbach.

Fresh from his first-innings 69, Fell has already hit three boundaries in his 13.

Notts have passed their first-innings score at Trent Bridge, moving onto 181-2.

Luke Fletcher is still there on 35 with Jake Libby on five.

It's a lead of 125 runs now for Notts - the Essex bowlers are keeping them quiet but the wickets haven't come yet.

    Ballance lbw Maharaj 85 (Yorkshire 209 & 192-5, Lancashire 252)

Gary Ballance misses out on a ton as he goes for 85 - a second LBW victim for Lancs' South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj.

Yorkshire lead by 149. Finely balanced in the Roses match.

Five wickets in hand for the Tykes - but then there is another big LBW shout in the next over from Tom Bailey against Jonny Tattersall.

With Maharaj on, batting is not looking easy all of a sudden.

Half an hour to go until lunch here. A crucial time in this game as Tattersall and Tim Bresnan look to push on and extend that lead.

  20. KENT BEAT MIDDLESEX BY THREE WICKETSpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 12 September 2018
    Breaking

    Middlesex 161 & 186 v Kent 192 & 157-7

A thin inside edge from Sam Billings finds the boundary and Kent beat Middlesex by three wickets to go top of Division Two as it stands.

It's been a hard-fought game mainly gloomy conditions at Lord's, but 19 points for Kent take them to 195 overall and really puts the pressure on Sussex in the promotion race.

Captain Billings finishes on 31* with Harry Podmore 1* for Kent, while Middlesex now cannot mathematically win promotion this season.
