50 for Sam Hainpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 417-4

Sam Hain drives Luke Robinson through point for his 8th four...

That's his 5th first class 50 of the season, coming in 82 balls.

Not quite as many runs as he would've liked in this campaign, with 420 runs in 14 innings before this game but he's given us a timely reminder of his quality here.

  3. Pressure on for Sussexpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 410-4

Ollie Robinson begins his afternoon spell with a no-ball and the batsmen scamper through for a single.

Three more runs in the over.

Danny Briggs is back - and this is his 32nd over of the innings.

  4. wicket

    WICKET Azhar Ali (c & b Morkel 2)published at 13:18 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Surrey 485 v Somerset 2-2

I know this game doesn't matter very much but even so, this is bad for Somerset.

Morne Morkel has two wickets to his name for the cost of one run, taking a return catch to dismiss Azhar Ali.

  5. End of session at Headingleypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 156-9

    Well, where's your money now?

After careful consideration mine is staying in my pocket.

Close call now - with Hampshire only 28 behind.

Great effort from Tim Bresnan, who's five-fer accounted for Kyle Abbott, Tom Alsop and Liam Dawson today, but the visitors still have one wicket left.

  6. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 402-4

Sussex have it all to do to get back into this match after a superb 230-run between the Warwickshire stalwarts Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott.

Danny Briggs to continue - bowling to Sam Hain.

  7. ouch!

Patterson dented but not dauntedpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 156-9

Gareth Berg hits the ball straight back to Steven Patterson...

The ball ricochets off his body and down to the leg side for a single.

Berg asks the bowler if he's OK and he replies in the affirmative.

  8. wicket

WICKET Trescothick (c Clarke b Morkel 0)published at 13:10 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Surrey 485 v Somerset 0-1

Not the start Somerset were after.

Marcus Trescothick is out first ball, edging Morne Morkel to Rikki Clarke at second slip.

  9. The promotion picturepublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

Sussex have only one bowling point against Warwickshire, meaning the most they can get is 220 points.

Warwickshire will be promoted with a draw or victory against Sussex - that looks pretty likely with the Bears 402-4 in the first innings.

Kent could reach 219 by taking maximum points against Glamorgan – which could effectively send them up should they be level on points with Sussex, because they have won three more games.

That's not looking likely though, as the hosts are 190-5 at lunch.

Should Kent win and Sussex fail to beat Warwickshire, that will guarantee Kent a place in Division One next season.

  10. The relegation picturepublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

Right, settle in - this might take a little while.

The most points eighth-placed Lancashire can get is 136

After failing to get any batting points yesterday, the most points Worcestershire can get is 139, but they have just eight overs to take three wickets to earn maximum bowling points.

Having taken three bowling points yesterday, Hampshire - who are still 45 runs short of a first batting bonus point - need four more points against Yorkshire to be safe.

Yorkshire's situation is a little more complicated but they will be safe if they beat Hampshire.

  11. Hampshire close in on White Rosepublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 155-9

The gap between the two sides is less than 30 now.

They'll go into lunch in five minutes or so.

Mm, if I were a betting man I'd say this could go to the wire here.

Apparently the rain is coming - but it just might miss us at Headingley.

A 2nd maiden over for Jack Brooks.

  12. Sussex promotion hopes slipping awaypublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Warwickshire 402-4 v Sussex

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Another excellent morning for the visitors who are looking to bat Sussex out of this match

Jonathon Trott eased his way to the 46th first class hundred of his career an innings full of patience and quality shots, and the ovation he received when he was eventually dismissed, showed the high regard in which he is held around the country

Sussex have bowled a better line and length than they did yesterday, but their outside chances of promotion diminished further with just one bowling point secured.

  13. Essex hold off Worcestershire attackpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 381-6

    Chris Egerton
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

The home side have beaten off Worcestershire's attempts to claw their way back in the morning session, with a 6th wicket century stand between Ravi Bopara and Adam Wheater.

Both showed that you can play strokes on this Chelmsford pitch, despite its low bounce at times.

Wheater was bowled for 66, as the industrious Ed Barnard picked up his third wicket running into the stiff breeze from the River End.

That was the only wicket to fall, despite Worcestershire putting down three chances this morning.

  14. Listen to Trott's century momentpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

Probably the best moment of the day so far.

Warkwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott does not have long left in his wonderful career, but he's taking full advantage of his time in the middle against Sussex.

  15. Yorkshire press for final wicketpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 150-9

Berg gets a single off the fourth ball of Waite's over.

Shot! Edwards smashes the last ball of the over down to mid wicket for four.

  16. Yorkshire press for innings leadpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 145-9

Brooks digs his first one in short and Edwards swats it away for one.

Hampshire aren't done just yet. Big appeal for lbw off an attempted yorker but Berg survives.

He nudges the next ball away for one and Edwards shuffles back and forth and ultimately leaves the next one.

Edwards swats the last ball of the over away and the ball bounces just short of Bresnan in the deep.

  17. Hampshire nine downpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 143-9

Matthew Waite bowls a bumper and Gareth Berg comes within a whisker of going caught and bowled.

That really stuck in the pitch. Can't see many runs coming in the second dig.

The field comes up for the last two balls and Berg can't get it away. Edwards to face.

  18. Brooks back on for White Rosepublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 143-9

Jack Brooks is handed the task of trying to end the Hampshire innings.

He tries a fast in-ducker but the ball drifts harmlessly down leg. Berg has the single.

Edwards thrashes the next ball away but Berg doesn't want to take the run.

  19. Lunch at Essexpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 381-6

Ravi Bopara is unbeaten on 96 at Chelmsford, but he will have to wait until after lunch to complete his century.

His Essex side are 287 runs ahead of Worcestershire, who look extremely likely to be relegated at the end of this game.

  20. Kent ahead at lunchpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Glamorgan 186 v Kent 190-5

Zak Crawley is still unbeaten on 114 as the players head off for lunch at Canterbury.

Sam Billings is not out on 12 as the hosts are four runs ahead of Glamorgan's first-innings total.
