Matthew Waite gets one to nip back sharply and Berg somehow manages to evade.

Just 42 runs behind now - but that's a long way back with nine down in a low-scoring contest.

Berg grabs a single off the fourth ball and Edwards blocks out the other two.

    Sussex v Warwks 402-4

Sussex bowled with plenty of heart this morning to dislodge Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott but they remain well up against it in a game they have to win to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Heartfelt appreciation shown by the Sussex faithful for the efforts of two of the finest batsmen to have played for the visitors in recent times.

    He's gone!

Ian Holland is bowled through the gate by Matthew Waite!

Fidel Edwards will have a bat before lunch - which will now be delayed.

Yorkshire have the three bowling points.

They need 10 more overall to be sure of Division one cricket in 2019.

  6. Yorkshire turn to Waitepublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 139-8

Matthew Waite is in the attack now and Ian Holland unleashes a meaty cut shot for a couple.

He gets a single off the next ball and then drops short with the next ball...

Berg clatters him through mid wicket for four very precious runs. Four more through the same region.

This is quite a handy partnership - now worth 29.

  7. Champions post big total against Somersetpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Surrey 464-9 v Somerset

Ordinarily at this time of the season, first against second would be the game we were all watching.

Surrey are already celebrating winning the Championship title, though it's been Somerset's morning today.

Dean Elgar completed his century before being caught behind off Tom Abell for 110, becoming one of five wickets to fall in the session.

Conor McKerr and Amar Singh Virdi are the final pair in.

The visitors are 18-0 in reply.

Durham have collapsed to 30-7 in reply to Leicestershire's 321 at Grace Road.

Mohammed Abbas has been the Durham tormentor-in-chief with 5-23 to date.

Northants have just lost their fourth wicket against Gloucestershire at Bristol, where Ben Curran was caught by Miles Hammond off the bowling of David Payne for 30.

They're 70-4 and trail the hosts by 55 after dismissing them for 125.

  9. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 361-6

Apologies for the lack of updates, Essex fans, but it's only because your team are doing too well.

The hosts lost Adam Wheater for 66, but Simon Harmer and Ravi Bopara have kept the pressure up on Worcestershire since then.

Their partnership is worth 43 runs from nine overs.

  10. Sussex toil for wicketspublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 378-4

Sussex have bowled tidily here and managed to prize out Bell and Trott - but the Bears are still on course for a 450-plus score here.

David Wiese bends has back with a quicker one and Tim Ambrose blocks.

  11. Hampshire in trouble at Headingleypublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 120-8

Steven Patterson is in his 13th over now, just 15 runs conceded and no wickets.

A huge gust of wind knocks the bails off.

Bet the players can't wait for lunchtime.

Gareth Berg gets a single of the last ball. Still 64 behind.

  12. Sussex struggle at windy Hovepublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 371-4

Not sure if the wind has affected the scoreboard at Hove, which continues to credit Chris Jordan as the bowler as David Wiese runs in to try and dislodge Sam Hain.

Sam Haine is well forward to defend.

Ooh, the sun is out now. Remember that?

  13. wicket

    Yorks 184 v Hants 119-8

Steven Patterson is bowling with two slips in place and Ian Holland is in full defensive mode.

Can he get his side close to 184?

The wind is blowing a hoolie here and Patterson has to abort his run up.

Here we go... and Holland gets his first run down to fine leg off the 16th ball faced.

    Gareth Berg defends. 65 behind.

  16. Abbas whipping up a storm in Leicesterpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Leicestershire 321 v Durham 21-6

It took Durham just 11 balls this morning to claim the final two Leicestershire wickets as the hosts were dismissed for 321.

But in horrific conditions - the ground is being battered by Storm Ali - Durham have also faced Storm Abbas and they seem unable to stop it.

Mohammad Abbas took just 5.4 overs to record his five-for as he saw off Cameron Steel, Michael Richardson and Paul Collingwood for ducks. The soon-to-retire Durham skipper went first ball. Abbas' pace is the problem and he is bowling with the wind at his back.

Meanwhile at the other end, bowling into the headwind, Neil Dexter has taken one wicket and is yet to concede a run in his 6.2 overs.

Durham’s lowest score in the Championship is 67 all out. They will be lucky to get anywhere near that today.

  17. 100 runs

100 for Zak Crawleypublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Glamorgan 186 v Kent 160-4

Kent are headed for a sizeable lead against Glamorgan despite the Welsh side's best efforts this morning.

It's all thanks to 20-year-old Zak Crawley, who brings up his maiden first-class century from 114 balls.

  18. wicket

WICKET Trott (c Finch b Wiese) 124published at 11:49 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 368-4

After looking invincible (achy back aside) for much of his innings, Jonathan Trott stares up at the heavens after clipping David Wiese straight to mid wicket.

May well be the last time the Sussex crowd see him bat - and he gets a warm round of applause on the way back to the dressing room.

Tim Ambrose is the new batsman.

  19. Five-wicket haul for Tim Bresnanpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 110-8

And that Dawson dismissal gives Tim Bresnan a first Championship five-fer of 2018.

    Well played, sir.
