WICKET Taylor c Godleman b Ferguson 16published at 14:19 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Derbyshire 184 & 157 v Gloucestershire 163 & 169-8

Gloucestershire are still trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Jack Taylor departs after two fours off Lockie Ferguson in the previous three balls, needlessly swatting a catch after giving himself room.

Ferguson now has four wickets and the visitors need another 10 runs with just two wickets left.

  2. Pope settling inpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Surrey 67 & 281-3 v Essex 477-8 dec

Following the loss of Jason Roy and Mark Stoneman, England's Ollie Pope is now looking good for Surrey with a boundary in each of the last two overs. He is 23 not out and Ben Foakes has nine - the champions need another 129 to make Essex bat again.

  3. Small target likely for White Rosepublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Worcs 340 & 173-8 v Yorks 428 (Lead by 84)

Jack Brooks has a go round the wicket as well and Wayne Parnell plays and misses.

He nicks the fifth ball through a vacant third slip area for a streaky four.

The next ball is pulled away and that's a great diving stop at deep mid wicket by Jeet Raval to keep it to one.

  4. Kent's Thomas requires knee surgerypublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Kent fast bowler Ivan Thomas will miss six to nine months of cricket as he has full reconstruction knee surgery.

  5. Pears eight down at New Roadpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Worcs 340 & 168-8 v Yorks 428 (Lead by 80)

Steven Patterson is bowling round the wicket to Wayne Parnell, who is in block mode.

The bowler beats him outside the off with his third ball and pushes the fourth out to mid on for one.

First balls for Josh Tongue - who defends.

WICKET Higgins c and b Ferguson 5published at 14:07 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Derbyshire 163 & 157 v Gloucestershire 163 & 158-7

Late drama at Derby where Gloucestershire are suddenly making heavy weather of their run-chase.

Ben Charlesworth falls lbw to Matt Critchley for 23 and in the next over Ryan Higgins gives a return catch to New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson.

The visitors need another 21 runs with three wickets left.

WICKET Cox b Patterson 18published at 14:06 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Worcs 340 & 158-8 v Yorks 428 (Lead by 70)

    Horrid shot.

Ben Cox shapes up to mow Steven Patterson over long on and misses.

The stumps go flying and the White Rose are nearly there.

Josh Tongue picked up a foot injury yesterday but he's going to grit his teeth and have a bat.

  8. Rayner cleared to deputisepublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Middlesex 121 & 336-7 v Durham 310

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

The umpires have returned to the pitch and it has been announced Ollie Rayner will replace James Harris for Middlesex. So that's a spinner on a deteriorating pitch in place of a fast bowler.

I can understand the reservations of the Durham camp, but Alan Fordham, the umpires' boss, has given it the green light so the game resumes.

    Warwks 380 v Kent 167 & 179

Matt Henry drives Jeetan Patel to cover...

Harry Podmore chances a run but Olly Stone's throw is too good!

    Direct hit!

He's out of his ground and Warwickshire seal the Division Two championship in style.

Huge round of applause for the Bears in general and Jonathan Trott in particular as he leaves the field as a player for the club for the last time.

WICKET Billings lbw b Patel 46published at 14:01 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Warwks 380 v Kent 167 & 179-9 (Trail by 34)

Jeetan Patel is driven just past Dom Sibley at short mid wicket and the reaction from the fielders suggests that was a chance. Very tough, though.

Sharp footwork from Billings, who gets to the pitch and drills the next ball through mid off for four.

And he's gone! Jeetan Patel fires in a straight one and Sam Billings is plumb in front.

The Bears are one scalp away from the Division Two title.

  11. wicket

WICKET Stoneman b Harmer 86published at 14:01 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Surrey 67 & 250-3 v Essex 477-8 dec

How often does that happen? One batsman falls after a big stand and his partner follows soon afterwards.

Mark Stoneman will be disappointed not to end the season with a century and the scent of victory is fresh again in Essex nostrils, with the home side still needing another 160 to make them bat again as Ben Foakes joins Ollie Pope.

  12. Sub drama at Riversidepublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Strange scenes in Chester-le-Street where it's been announced that fast bowler James Harris can't continue after the Middlesex player was hit in the head while batting.

Middlesex want to replace him with spinner Ollie Rayner, which gives them a big advantage on a deteriorating pitch.

Durham skipper Paul Collingwood feels subbing Harris with Rayner is not fair because they are not like for like players. The umpires have even been off the field to ring their boss for advice.

  13. wicket

WICKET Howell c Hughes b Critchley 58published at 13:57 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Derbyshire 184 & 157 v Gloucestershire 163 & 145-5

Derbyshire are still plugging away in what looks like a losing cause but they have the key wicket of Benny Howell after a 47-run stand with Ben Charlesworth as he is caught in spinner Matt Critchley's third over. Jack Taylor is the new batsman with the visitors 34 short of their target.

Cox defies the White Rosepublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Worcs 340 & 147-7 v Yorks 428 (Lead by 59)

Lovely shot from Ben Cox who smashes Ben Coad over mid wicket for a maximum.

Wayne Parnell picks up a boundary off Patterson at the other end and the lead is now past 50.

  15. Kent eight down at Edgbastonpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Warwks 380 v Kent 167 & 172-8 (Trail by 41)

Olly Stone is whipped away to third man by Billings for a single to keep the strike.

Mid wicket has been moved back a few yards for Chris Wright.

Billings and Podmore trade in singles to take Kent beyond their first innings effort but they remain in the red.

Another single to mid wicket by Billings to farm the strike.

    Surrey 67 & 244-2 v Essex 477-8 dec

Essex finally have the breakthrough at The Oval as Jason Roy pulls a short ball to Aron Nijjar, who is patrolling the boundary at deep square leg.

Roy batted for just over three hours, faced 151 balls and hit two sixes and 19 fours.

Mark Stoneman is still there on 85 not out as Ollie Pope joins him.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Benny Howell and Ben Charlesworth look like they want to be there at the end at Derby. The Gloucestershire pair have added 47 to see their side to 142-4 and they need another 37 for victory.

Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hogan have taken two wickets each with the new ball to reduce Leicestershire to 25-4 after Glamorgan set them a remote target of 403.

Meanwhile, there is a disagreement over the rules at the Riverside, where Middlesex apparently want to use Ollie Rayner as a substitute after James Harris retired hurt following a blow on the helmet (see below). The visitors are 324-7 after Mark Wood bowled Martin Andersson for 34.

WICKET Twohig c Bresnan b Coad 1published at 13:44 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Worcs 340 & 132-7 v Yorks 428 (Lead by 44)

This is the 179th day of Worcestershire's season and not one they'll care to remember after this afternoon's mini collapse.

There's another one for Ben Coad!

Ben Twohig is disgusted with himself as a loose drive to cover is pouched by Tim Bresnan.

  19. Billings defies Bearspublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Warwks 380 v Kent 167 & 162-8 (Trail by 51)

Another four for Billings, this time down the ground off Ryan Sidebottom.

Harry Podmore is a whisker away from offering a catch to Dom Sibley at slip off Chris Wright, but the ball didn't quite carry.

He plays the 5th ball through cover for a couple.

The last ball goes straight through him and somehow the batsman survives.

  20. Overton on hat-trickpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Somerset completed an innings win over Notts at Trent Bridge this morning following a hat-trick by England pace bowler Craig Overton.

Here's what he had to say about it.

“Obviously it was my first over and I sent down a couple of looseners, then it came out alright and I got going with the first one.

“The one to the left-hander (Slater) swung a bit and nipped away. Then it was the right-handers (Patel and Wessels). I always enjoy bowling to right-handers if it’s swinging. The one to Riki bounced a little bit and caught the top of the bat on it’s way to Tres (Marcus Trescothick).

“Then I was away on a long run to celebrate.”
