    Worcs 340 v Yorks 417-9

A handy lead already for the White Rose, who are guaranteed Division One status next summer.

The Pears were forced on to the back foot in the final session of play on Tuesday - when Yorkshire plundered 203 runs, 171 of them in a ninth-wicket stand between Gary Ballance and Jack Brooks (82), after strike bowler Josh Tongue picked up a foot injury.

The hosts return to Division Two in 2019 but will hope to end the season on a high by prizing out the last wicket and building a second-innings lead.

Gary Ballance resumes unbeaten on 189 with last man Ben Coad.

    Warwks 380 v Kent 167 & 38-1

They began this game level on points but Kent are a long way off threatening the Bears here after openers Will Rhodes and Dom Sibley both scored centuries for the hosts and their pace attack demolished Kent for 167 in the first innings.

Zak Crawley (21 not out) takes up the rearguard with nightwatchman Adam Riley.

Surrey pace bowler Jade Dernbach believes they can save themselves from defeat by Essex despite trailing by 410 on first innings at The Oval.

The new champions have won 10 games and drawn three so far this summer and want to avoid ending the summer on a downer.

"The pitch has flattened out and it is certainly not over yet. We would love to go through the Championship season unbeaten," said Dernbach.

"It was very pleasing to see the way the team kept going throughout the day. Now we have to bat through the third day and then see where we are."

Nottinghamshire v Somerset - match resumes 10.30 BST

    Peter MooresImage source, Rex Features

Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores promised his team "won't hide" from their shortcomings after their Division One status was confirmed for next season despite having to follow-on against Somerset.

They have lost five of their last six games, but will stay up even if they are beaten again.

"It's a day of relief when you get over the line," said Moores.

"We won't hide from anything. It's been a hard slog these past six weeks but it's over the season and we have played some good cricket and got our points in the bank."

  7. Seven and out for Adamspublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Hampshire v Lancashire - match resumes 10.30 BST

Hampshire batsman Jimmy Adams admitted he had a "wobbly bottom lip" as he walked out to bat against Lancashire on day two, the final innings of his first-class career.

The left-hander only scored 13, but said he was relieved not to "finish it with a pair" after his first-innings duck.

"You hope for a nice fairytale like Alastair Cook. You can't write it and you can't always get what you want," he said.

"I might be able to go down in history as the only man whose last scoring shot was a seven. I don't even remember ever seeing a seven before - and it made up over 50% of my innings."

  8. Kent could still be dangerous - Troughtonpublished at 10:14 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Warwickshire v Kent - match resumes at 10.30 BST

Warwickshire coach Jim Troughton has urged his side to keep their discipline as they look to wrap up the Division Two title against rivals Kent.

The visitors will resume on 38-1, needing another 175 to make the Bears bat again.

We've done really well to carve out a 200-run lead," Troughton told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. "We've given ourselves an opportunity if we bowl with discipline and put them under pressure at each end.

"We've got to make Kent work for every single run. Kent have got to win the game which makes them quite dangerous. But it's a lot of runs to be in front on that wicket."

  10. Brooks delighted to delay bowling dutypublished at 10:08 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Worcestershire v Yorkshire - match resumes 10.30 BST

Yorkshire tail-ender Jack Brooks claimed a desire to avoid bowling was the incentive for his batting efforts on day two against Worcestershire at New Road.

He contributed 82 off 99 balls to a stand of 171 with Gary Ballance, who was 189 not out at the close.

"The main thing is I didn't want to bowl again. The longer I batted, I didn't have to bowl. That was going through my mind a lot when I was out there," said Brooks, who is playing his last game for the county before joining Somerset.

"It went my way. Guys bowled in my areas, so to speak. I could imagine it was quite entertaining to watch."

  11. 'We're not one of the two worst teams' - Livingstonepublished at 10:05 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

Hampshire v Lancashire - match resumes 10:30 BST

    Liam LivingstoneImage source, Rex Features

Relegated Lancashire will be looking to finish off Hampshire today and at least end a disappointing season on a bright note.

Victory at Southampton could see them finish level on points with Nottinghamshire, but go down by virtue of having simply having won one game fewer.

"If I'm honest, for two out of eight teams to go down in the top division is tough," captain Liam Livingstone told BBC Radio Lancashire. "It creates pressure all the way through and there is no let-off though the season.

"Do I think we've been one of the two worst teams? No, I just think, when we've been bad we've been very bad, and it's ultimately cost us. Next year we are going to have to learn from what we've done."
