  1. ouch!

    SL 230-8published at 78 overs

Change of pace - Adil Rashid almost makes the ball stop in mid air somehow. Matrix stuff.

It's all going on now as Dilruwan comes down the track, smashes a shot back and it hits Suranga Lakmal at the non-striker's end.

    Ouch! Right on the hand!

This winter is a great opportunity for Moeen to go and get a load of wickets; just as it is for the batsmen - go and get loads of credit in your account.

That's a fine delivery from Moeen.

    Dananjaya c Stokes b Moeen 8 (SL 229-8)

He was looking like he'd lost his rhythm in that over but with the final ball of it Moeen Ali coaxes an absolute gem of a ball which is too good for Akila Dananjaya. It tempts the defensive push which ends with an edge into the buckets of Ben Stokes. Snaffled like a labrador.

  5. 6 runs

    SL 229-7published at 76.5 overs

Shot! Moeen loses his length, a full toss and it gets the requisite treatment from Dilruwan. Straight back over the bowler's head.

Moeen is well short again and Dilruwan pulls it away for a four. I wonder if Mo needs a rest.

    No...

  6. SL 218-7published at 76 overs

    Rashid 0-49

The cameras pick out a genuine dragon somewhere on the fringes of the ground, no wonder the police are armed.

Adil Rashid is pure box office, now his run up ends with him tripping and almost doing a somersault. He tripped over his own trousers!

That will be a gif before the close of play. Raheem Sterling got a penalty for less. Every run up and approach is different from the leg spinner. He is getting huge turn into the left hander, but then follows it up with a full toss.

A few spin artists out there at the moment. Moeen Ali has it on a string, gets some added bounce too, Ben Foakes athletically diving forwards to take a scrambling catch but that was off the hip of Dilruwan. No glove.

Moeen then chops him in half with some severe spin The end is nigh.

A miscued sweep - off the forearm actually - but Akila Dananjaya gets away with it. Moeen and Adil Rashid both bowling beautifully after tea.

    Eng need three wickets

I've seen a few post-lunch collapses in my time. Never a pretty sight.

Chance? Moeen has short leg scrambling for a catch but that was all thigh pad. Dilruwan has had enough, he tries to mow a short ball over square leg but mistimes it, a complete air shot.

That's nice though, he ends the over with a swept four.

Adil Rashid! Unplayable that, two genuine leg breaks. Rippers. Always an element of alchemy to leg spin, even they don't really know what's coming next.

That's even better! Beats the outside eggde, so close to a stumping as well. Dilruwan Perera in knots and delighted to flick a single away and get off strike.

  16. SL 203-7published at 71 overs

Dilruwan Perera lashes a beauty for four, timed to perfection. Sri Lanka have now matched their first innings target of 203. England need three wickets to win in Galle for the first time.

  17. SL 198-7published at 70 overs

I said it before but I'll say it again, Adil Rashid is my favourite England bowler to watch. He gets so much variety and has Akila Dananjaya dancing in his crease to fend one away which spits up at him.

Shout out to the commentator on Sky who just said 'England are favourites to win from here."

  18. Cricket Rememberspublished at 09:45 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2018

Moving away from Galle for a moment, and to commemorate the centenary of Armistice Day on Sunday, the ECB has launched Cricket Remembers, a campaign to remember the cricketers who fought in the First World War.

The centrepiece of this campaign is a Tommy silhouette which is on display at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

    Incredibly poignant, isn't it?

    100% would visit them all.

England are three good balls away from a Test win here in Galle.

For a cricket bar chain I like either 'Slips' or 'The Last Man Inn'. But I've always fancied running a less boozy, more warm beverage, oriented TMS style establishment called 'Brew from the Boundary '.
