It's always handy to have your opener in form. In the last game it was Fakhar, in this one it's Imam. The top order is functioning rather nicely for Pakistan. He remained reserved in his approach, no great fancy shots, but he played within his limits.

A sixth one-day hundred for Imam-ul-Haq! With the World Cup coming up, that's a real confidence booster.

But Imam-ul-Haq gets to his century this time with a tuck off the hip. This lad can play. It's his sixth hundred in just 27 matches and comes from 97 balls.

He kisses his bat and takes the applause from the crowd.

That was a single-for-a-hundred shot. He nearly nicked it through to Bairstow.

    Careful.

Imam tries to run it down to third man and almost edges one through to Bairstow.

    Ooooos from the Bristol crowd.

A single brings Imam-ul-Haq onto strike on 99...

David Willey is coming back to bowl the 35th over. Asif Ali is on strike, not Imam who is on the verge of a century.

Is Joe Denly going to get another bowl?

The last ball of Plunkett's over has gone for four almost every time in the last few overs.

  9. Pak 207-4published at 34 overs

    Imam 99, Asif 18

More good fielding from England. They've been sharp today. Tom Curran sprints, collects the ball and pops it up for Chris Woakes to hurl back in. Eoin Morgan applauds from the middle.

Worryingly, though, Curran is hobbling a little afterwards. He looks like he's trying to shake out his right knee.

A decent over from Plunkett is then ruined on the final ball. A long-hop on Imam's hip. He moves to 99 with another pull for four.

It's imperative for Pakistan that Imam stays there until the end.

200 up. A single takes Imam within five of his century.

Pakistan are still a bit slow. They need these last few overs to work and some sixes to be hit.

Pakistan are going well here but you feel they'll need all of these runs. It's a very good pitch with pretty short boundaries.

David Willey was hoping that was going to land right in his lap. You could sense something was building up there, and Asif responded.

    Pak 197-4published at 32.3 overs

A first big shot from Asif Ali. On this evidence he can hit them!

Asif skips down to Moeen, thumps the ball into the air and it just has enough to carry over David Willey's head on the long-on boundary.

    Plunkett 7-0-41-1

Plunkett continues to bang it in short after drinks. Imam looks up to the task. He's scoring at over a run a ball.

The opener tries to steal a single on the final ball to keep the strike but is rightly sent back by Asif Ali.

It might be good fun to see 45 minutes of Asif Ali here. Pakistan will want more... if he stays in until the end, he'll do lots of damage.

Asif Ali is at the crease because of this strange shot from Sarfaraz Ahmed. Chris Jordan took a good catch.

Asif Ali needs a good innings here, to propel Pakistan to 350. And what will Imam's role be once he reaches three figures? I think he'll need to amp it up too.
