    Willey b Shaheen 14 (Eng 336-9)

David Willey gives himself some room, exposing his stumps as he expects a short ball, and instead Shaheen Afridi flings down an excellent, accurate, 90mph yorker that shatters his stumps.

Shaheen has figures of 4-81 with one ball left.

Shaheen nails a yorker to keep David Willey quiet.

If I am the captain I would be disappointed with this. Keep it short and don't let Willey hit you down the ground where the boundary is very short.

What's that, you want a one-handed six down the ground?

Well, allow David Willey to oblige. There's some power in that shot.

A full toss from Shaheen but Tom Curran can't clear the close fielders, and he dives to make his ground as the man at mid-off shies at the stumps.

The fact Plunkett hasn't played the last two games suggests that he is in the 15. I am surprised they haven't played Mark Wood. It looks like they are trying to wrap him in cotton wool.

Dan Gee: Forget England Vs Pakistan. It's all about Curran vs Willey right now.

  19. Eng 325-8published at 47.3 overs

Onto the back foot goes Tom Curran, swinging a pull shot away, but it's only for one.

David Willey gets a look at a Hassan full toss but it comes off the toe end of the bat and again, it's just a single.

If this is a bowl-off between Curran and Willey, then the fact that England won't have a total that is out of sights an extra dimension. Not only the pressure of sealing a World Cup place, but the pressure of winning the game. Also, with Willey and Curran batting together, is it mischievous to think of the Atherton-Stewart run-out in India 1992-93, when both were in line to be next England captain?
