    Root 63, Morgan 53

We're at the halfway stage in this England innings. Morgan only decided to bat first because he wanted practice for the World Cup. I think he actually would have bowled.

    They've still scored 190-2.

Here's Amy Lofthouse to see how many England can get. She did the live-text on the first England ODI world record score. Just saying...

I think Mohammad Amir was very clever getting chicken pox when he did! He missed a nice few games here. His stock has risen within the team.

If Morgan stays there then there's every chance. He's middling everything. It looks like he's batting with a piece of wood the width of a table.

He just swats this away for four off Hasnain. The youngster's figures are brutal.

There's a fella next to me in the new stand who wants England to break the ODI record total of 481 and is getting incredibly excited every time the score moves on. He even stood up and applauded an Eoin Morgan single to third man.

    Root 62, Morgan 47

Here's another big shot from Eoin Morgan. This one isn't quite middled and only goes for four. You can tell how much this England team have changed the mindset of cricket. The crowd only politely applaud what was a thump for four.

Morgan made a slow start but now has 47 from 42.

The crowd is a dangerous place to be when Eoin Morgan is in this sort of form...

I would be scared to live within 150m of a cricket ground when this England team is in town.

Morgan has broken the roof! He's smashed another one back towards the city centre and it lands on the roof of a brick building to the left of the new stand.

The ball clatters into a tile and sends it tumbling down, before it is luckily caught in the gutter.

This is greedy and ungrateful but hear me out. I think if either Roy or Bairstow were unfit during the World Cup, we should promote Buttler to open. Vince is such a gorgeous player and makes an excellent reserve batsman - but I don't feel you should have Vince and Root in the top three of this side. We've risen to number one in the world through explosive batting at the top. That is diminished with Vince at the top of the order.

England are on for a huge score. I like how this partnership has developed. They bided their time, got used to conditions and all of a sudden the boundaries are flowing.

I honestly think Eoin Morgan is underrated. A lot of the talk is often about Roy or Bairstow or Buttler. Morgan is brilliant and has been for a long, long time.

Huuuuge! Eoin Morgan creams a long hop from Shoaib Malik way back into the stand. That deserved the treatment and got it.

Four more to Root. This one is a lovely shot - pulled off his stumps off the spinner. 400 looks straight-forward again.

Pakistan's bowling attack lacks a leader and it needs a bit of experience. Mohammad Amir can be both.

  17. Eng 156-2published at 21 overs

    Root 54, Morgan 28

Remarkably that was the first six of the innings. There have been a lot of big shots from England but they've all been fours.

Bairstow tried to hit a six earlier but it was his undoing...

Easy as that. Eoin Morgan picks his spot in the stand off Fakhar Zaman and the ball carries the boundary rope by a good 10m.

The batsman at the other end to you, Ramiz, was Zahid Ahmed - he never played an ODI after that.

I think I hold a record - I'm pretty sure I was the first batsman to be given out obstructing the field in a one-day international. That was against England in Karachi in 1987. I was on 98 at the time.
