  1. Eng 26-0published at 3.2 overs

Jonny Bairstow has hardly had a look in here with Vince hogging the strike but here's his first boundary. It's a cut that's a little edgy but England have already knocked the slips away and there's no danger.

Bairstow is hit on the pad a ball later but the ball pitched outside leg stump. Pakistan's appeal is turned down.

The easiest option is to replace Hales with Archer. You have enough batting and spin and there's no stress that way. James Vince is edging himself into the final 15 with his performances in this series and in the One-Day Cup for Hampshire. I want that left-arm variety in the squad, in case the conditions change and we get a rainy spell.

How many would James Vince have to score today to get himself in England's starting line-up at the top of the order?

Oh, yes, yes, yes James Vince. This one might be the best of the lot. A stunning flash of the blade to another wide delivery from Hassan and it's four more.

  7. Eng 14-0published at 2 overs

Pakistan's fielding has been really, really poor in this series.

You'd think in the first few overs at least they'd make a point of being up to scratch. Imad was the opposite there.

Pakistan, as a basic thing, need to start taking their catches. It's a small margin but it will make a massive difference. Also, their batsmen have proven they can score hundreds but they need to go a little quicker - like England's.

  9. Eng 13-0published at 1.2 overs

James Vince looks in the mood. He wants to make one last claim for a starting place in the World Cup, however unlikely that may be.

He drives a third boundary in his third eight balls but is given help by the Pakistan fielders.

Imad Wasim creaks like an aging club cricketer in the covers and watches the ball go a few yards to his left.

    Vince 8, Bairstow 0

Boo. Four dots follow the opening boundaries. It still looks like it'll be another run fest today. There's no swing and the pitch looks like the road leading back into the city centre.

  11. Eng 8-0published at 0.2 overs

This one is an even better shot. Vince hangs on the back foot and punches for a second four in a row.

England are trundling along at a rate of 24 runs per over.

  12. Eng 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Hassan Ali will open the bowling for Pakistan. The visitors have two slips as they search for early swing.

The first delivery is full and wide and James Vince drives for four.

    Here we go again?

I'm sure in my mind they're swaying towards one player missing out - whether it's David Willey or Tom Curran. I must say, Tom Curran looks like the kind of player you want in your squad. He's looks like he's got that mentality, vibrancy that if he gets the opportunity to play suddenly in three weeks' time he wouldn't make any excuses. he'd want that ball at the end and that moment of going out to bat with his team under pressure. He just doesn't let England down when the pressure is on. It's a big day for David Willey.

Can they go into the World Cup in perfect fashion with another win today?

Jerusalem is playing. We'll be under way shortly.

The pitch looks great. It's a short boundary towards with the western side of the ground. England are batting first. You have got to expect 350 to be the norm again.

Mike Bell: I'd love to see England win the World Cup this summer. But in any match, particularly in a one off knockout stage, they still have an inherent batting brittleness, which means at least once they will be bowled out for around 150, or even less. Which will finish them.

I am slightly biased but I think it looks magnificent. It is a tremendous stand they have built.

We're at a new and improved Headingley today after the redevelopment of the stand at the football ground end of the stadium.

I saw the new stand with my own eyes a few weeks back and it is mighty impressive.
