Dreadful. It is a dreadful stroke. Udana could not help himself going for an almighty slog. If I was him I would be going up those steps. I would take a detour and let the coach calm down.

    Udana b Dawlat 10

Udana had hit that one six but he will not want to see this dismissal again - an early candidate for ugliest stroke of the tournament - and the stumps sprawl like skittles in a bowling alley.

Patrol: This game is awesome! I want more of EVERYTHING! Wickets, wides and wonderfully wild batting. I'm all in!

  4. SL 177-6published at 31 overs

A maiden from Rashid, the first of the innings and a rare bird in the modern one-day game. Some umbrellas are up, it's cold and drizzly and these players will not welcome these conditions, but for the moment at least the action continues.

  5. Hassan strikes as Sri Lanka collapsepublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 4 June 2019

I think we should all aspire to celebrate like Hamid Hassan and he was the bowler to take the fifth Sri Lankan wicket.

Andy Mulcahy: Got to love the way cricket can shift so dramatically; Sri Lanka were the football equivalent of 4-0 up in over 21; by over 24, it's 4-4. Erm, if that makes sense.

  7. SL 177-6published at 30 overs

Nabi again, in his penultimate over, the beginning of a bald patch on his crown. Only a couple of singles result.

  8. 'Magnificent piece of work' - Mathews caughtpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 4 June 2019

It was a short stay from former skipper Angelo Mathews, here is how he fell.

  9. SL 175-6published at 29 overs

    Run-rate 6.03

Now the highly-rated Rashid returns, with that whirling, unusual action, his head pointing down as he delivers the ball. An accurate over from the 20-year-old spinner and he has 0-13 from his first four overs.

That was an authentic, lofted off-drive. What a shot!

  11. 6 runs

    SL 173-6published at 28 overs

The first six of the match as Udana lofts down towards the River Taff where the straight boundary is a relatively modest, by today's standards, 67 metres.

  12. How's stat?!published at 12:41 British Summer Time 4 June 2019

Three wickets fell in an over for the first time in this year's World Cup.

  13. SL 166-6published at 27 overs

    Perera 75, Udana

So five wickets have gone down in 27 balls and it hasn't rained yet. Hassan is fit to resume from the Cathedral End and his bouncer rises up over the batsman and the despairing, flailing arms of Shahzad, who lands in ungainly fashion, giving some impromptu advertising to a boxer short manufacturer and taking the extras up to 31.

    T Perera run out 2 (SL 159-6)

The calamity continues. The batsmen may share the same surname but there was precious little understanding there, a push for a single - straight to the fielder - Thisara Perera sent back by Kusal, the throw is good enough and big Shahzad breaks down the timbers in no-nonsense fashion.

Pete Ransom: In the space of half an hour I've gone from questioning Afghanistan's place in the World Cup to going nuts at all of these wickets they're taking!

  18. SL 155-5published at 25 overs

The halfway stage then and quite a change from 92-0 after 13 overs. Hassan is having to leave the field because of a what looks like a groin niggle. The Afghanistan supporters give him a huge ovation, waving flags of varying sizes in exuberant fashion. Six overs 1-46 for the headbanded seamer.

  19. Mendis becomes Nabi's third victimpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 4 June 2019

It was a short stay from Kusal Mendis, out second ball for two, to give Nabi his third wicket of the innings.

  20. SL 152-5published at 24 overs

    K Perera 70, T Perera 1

There's a rarity, an over without a wicket. Nabi now with 4-18 from six overs.
