This time last year, on 2 June 2018, Adam Zampa was taking 6-25 for Brentwood CC in the Essex Premier League as they bowled Hornchurch out for 64. In the Hornchurch side that day was Monty Panesar, who took five wickets of his own.

He's off the mark first ball, Stuart, but it's a controlled single into the leg side. Hetmyer, only 22, has scored four hundreds and two fifties in his 25 ODI innings. Now at the same stage, the Australians were 83-5, but can the Windies accelerate as Smith and Coulter-Nile did?

If Shimron Hetmyer can hit his first ball for six, he will.

Zampa bowled that with a scrambled seam and it didn't come back in to Pooran as he was expecting.

There was no pace on the ball but Aaron Finch had to judge it perfectly and he did.

    Pooran c Finch b Zampa 40 (WI 99-3)

A very promising innings comes to an end. Five fours and a six but this one was not timed and it skews to backward point where Finch leaps to take a neatly judged one-handed catch over his shoulder. I look forward to seeing more of Pooran.

That is Shai Hope's first boundary from a pull shot so far. He's had enough practice facing all the short stuff from the fast bowlers. Shai needs to pick the strike rate up here.

  8. WI 99-2published at 19 overs

    Pooran 40 Hope 26

Stoinis again in the pleasant afternoon sunshine. Hope looks a little cramped but he gets it away confidently and bisects the field to collect another boundary.

I played in a game for Worcester lawyers vs Worcester magistrates. The ball missed the stumps by a couple of feet but for some reason the bail fell off a second later. The magistrates appealed and the umpire gave me out. I asked what for and he replied, “bowled”. I asked him by whom and he said, “the ghost”.

That was very nicely put away by Hope and hopefully takes a bit of pressure off him.

The leg-spinner's Achilles heel from Zampa, the long hop, and Hope arches his back and pummels it through the covers for his first boundary.

Marcus Stoinis is the new bowler, another powerfully-built right-arm seamer, a modest pace around 80mph. Pooran gladly takes on the bouncer and although not off the middle by any means it has carried 67 metres for the 65th six of the tournament.

That was a rasping drive and a very tough chance. Maxwell looks disappointed but really he's stopped four there.

It was hit very hard by the stylish Pooran on 31 but a diving Maxwell got his right hand to it. Didn't stick and spinner Zampa is the unlucky bowler.

Iain Stirling: The 90mph ball from Starc hitting the stumps without dislodging them is like someone pulling a table cloth without any of the crockery, cutlery and glasses moving - expertly done!

Is that you Iain, the voice of Love Island? I know they did matching names on yesterday's NZ-Bangladesh match but my wife loves you. If you are the Iain Stirling from Love Island I mean.
