This is shock and awe from the Windies. The thing to note, apart from the brilliant execution of their bumper barrage, is how much they are enjoying themselves out there. Sheldon Cottrell's salute, then the whole team sprinting to keep up with Andre Russell, then the unconfined joy of the Glenn Maxwell dismissal. I lost count of how many maroon shirts were leaping and punching the air.

Stoinis the new batsman in all the excitement and Cottrell whistles another one past his outside edge. What can the Australians muster from here. Smith to take on Russell in the next over.

The pace, the hostility, the aggression of the West Indies bowlers has Australia really on the back foot here.

This will be a popular clip, the wicket of Warner. What a celebration too.

    Maxwell c Hope b Cottrell 0 (Aus 38-4)

If Khawaja will be embarrassed by his dismissal Glenn Maxwell will definitely not want to see this again. Second ball and he goes for the pull - nowhere near it and it loops up tamely to the keeper. The big show today has come from the Windies pacemen so far.

    Jack: That is dutty bowling!

Wolfgang Holzfaller: Please tell me I wasn't alone in letting out an excited yelp at Australia losing another wicket? Not very sporting, I know.

That is a brilliant catch from Shai Hope, diving in front of first slip. I don't think Chris Gayle was getting that!

That's the impact of the hostility of Andre Russell! Short ball, short ball, short ball, softened him up. Then the wide one, tempting him into the shot and he's nicked off.

    Khawaja c Hope b Russell

But this one gets the wicket, it's full and wide, Khawaja slashes at it and Hope takes a fine catch diving to his left.

The first bowling change as Andre Russell comes in from the Radcliffe Road End, a streak of bleached mohawk aiding his menace. A short one at 85mph is helped away by Khawaja, past the flailing arms of Hetmyer at backward square leg.

The ticketing issue doesn't seem to be going away, especially with the amount of empty seats at the beginning of this game (in fairness, there are still plenty of spectators arriving). I've been told that organisers are checking to see if sponsors and hospitality have been using their allocation, as well as investigating if tickets that have been bought are being used. Two things here. 1. The amount that appeared on secondary sites before the tournament. Yes, tickets were bought, but by who. 2. If you have a ticket, have you not come? If so, why?

  12. Aus 33-2published at 6 overs

Accurate left-arm seam from Cottrell and he has 1-9 from his three overs.

Jon Amor: This has the potential to be one of the best World Cup matches, Australia on the up and West Indies rebranding as the 'calypso' cricket team of years gone by. Treat for the neutral.

Let's see that first wicket as Thomas charges in to dismiss Finch.

  15. Aus 32-2published at 5 overs

Steve Smith is the new batsman and he is off the mark first ball, Cottrell racing across at fine leg to prevent a second run. Thomas tests out Khawaja again with the short stuff but the direction is not quite there as the left-hander helps it away fine for four.

That was back of length and a cross-seam delivery - it bounced on David Warner and he hit it high on the bat straight at gully.

The march and the salute is performed with exuberance as Cottrell gets his man - Warner caught in the gully.

That was a nasty, quick ball.

The fact it came off the glove first might have just taken the sting out of it a bit.

  19. ouch!

    Aus 22-1published at 3 overs

Shades of England in the Caribbean in 1986 against Patterson, Marshall and Garner. It's a short one and it leaps up at Khawaja into his glove and visor, but he is OK to continue.

    That's brilliantly timed - even Jason Holder's 6ft 7in frame couldn't get there.
