We have seen high quality spin bowling today. It has not been a raging turner but there has been a little bit of spin and a little bit of bounce. Pace has largely dominated this World Cup so it has been nice to see a change.

Afghanistan batsmen have a negative mindset. This match was theirs for the taking but they don't believe enough.

    Najibullah c Chahal b Pandya 21 (Afg 166-6)

It's leading edge time again, with the ball looping up towards midwicket, giving Chahal the easiest of chances which takes with glee.

Pandya blows kisses to the crowd - India's game now?

  7. Afg 165-5published at 41 overs

    Target 225

A leading edge from Najibullah drops into a gap around mid-wicket.

  8. Afg 163-5published at 40.2 overs

    Target 225

Shami, predictably, responds with a bouncer - and it's called a wide. Virat Kohli looks deeply unimpressed with that decision.

And he'll be incandescent as Shami concedes another wide down the leg side off the very next one.

    Lovely stuff!

  10. Afg 157-5published at 40 overs

    Target 225

Mohammed Shami returns - he has two overs of his allocation left - and Afghanistan take six from it, but that run rate is starting to edge up.

These two have worked predominately in singles but that was nice. Najibullah didn't try and over-hit it.

I'd rather see a fast flowing one-day game any time and leave Test match cricket to what it is. People will be saying they want to see low scoring Twenty 20 games next which is surely defeating the object.

Afghanistan are still ticking over nicely, but is their lower order up to a tight run chase against this attack?

This is why Chahal is such a clever bowler. It wasn't a shot that Afghan had to play.
