This might help Gulbadin at the other end. Afghan looks like he knows his gameplan at the moment.

  2. Afg 94-2published at 23.4 overs

Well now. Asghar Afghan gets in a big stride and absolutely rattles a sweep shot through square leg for four.

Confirmation from Bangladesh that Mahmudullah will take no further part in this match after injuring his calf while batting earlier.

    Target 263

Averaging one boundary and two singles per over should be the aim for Afghanistan.

  6. Afg 86-2published at 22.3 overs

    Gulbadin 40 off 64 balls

    A much-needed boundary for Afghanistan.

Gulbadin Naib waits on it and hits in to out, lofting against the spin over cover for four. Great shot.

  7. Afg 81-2published at 22 overs

Well the pitch is easier to bat on against pace.

But looks tougher now against spin, the odd ball turning sharply.

Gulbadin Naib gets a leading edge trying to flick Mehedi Hasan through mid-wicket and is fortunate to see it loop beyond the grasp of the bowler.

Former captain Asghar Afghan joins current captain Gulbadin Naib at the crease.

The pressure came from the infield and it was excellent bowling. It was all creeping into this crescendo of pressure.

Hashmatullah st Mushfiqur b Mosaddek 11 (Afg 79-2)

Lovely bowling from Mosaddek Hossain, flighting it up and drawing Hashmatullah Shahidi down the pitch.

The ball grips and turns past the outside edge as Hashmatullah drags his back foot out of the crease.

Mushfiqur Rahim gathers and prods off the bails, with replays confirming Hashmatullah was an inch or two short of making his ground.

The left-hander looked in a world of trouble against the off-spinners. Bangladesh's pressure is rewarded.

I think Hashmatullah Shahidi's torturous innings has finally been brought to an end.

The left-hander strides out to Mosaddek Hossain, is beaten and Mushfiqur Rahim whips the bails off.

    It's sent upstairs...

    That was ugly.

  15. Afg 77-1published at 20.2 overs

Mix-up! Oh my word! Yes, no, yes, no, yes and Gulbadin Naib ends up pretty much alongside Hashmatullah Shahidi in the middle of the pitch.

Finally they decide there is no run on and Gulbadin turns for home, pegs it and dives.

He didn't even need to in the end - the throw in is terrible and so wide of the stumps that Mosaddek Hossain has to take two steps away to gather it. Chance gone.

  16. Gulbadin lofts it over the covers for fourpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 24 June 2019

How long before Gulbadin looks for an outlet shot again?

  17. Afg 77-1published at 20 overs

    Gulbadin 34, Hashmatullah 10

That's better from Afghanistan, nudging and nurdling some singles.

Mehedi is still posing a threat though and finishes the over with two dot balls after four singles in a row.

A reader earlier called on Afghanistan to reach 80-0 after 20 overs. How do you rate 77-1 instead?

Need 190 runs off 31 overs

Mosaddek restores control, a very tidy over conceding just one. Afghanistan can't let Bangladesh string a few of these together.

Mavai Gopi: Afghanistan need to be careful that the run-rate doesn't get high too quickly, they are showing a lot of respect to the spinners, more running between the wickets is needed to reverse the pressure back onto the bowlers .
