What an atmosphere! Hoping this rejuvenated Pakistan scare a rather pedestrian England to start performing again. If not I'll settle for this atmosphere squared in an India/Pakistan final.

    John

Even being from India, I cannot help but appreciate from the bottom of my heart the exhilarating brand of cricket that Pakistan are playing. They deserve to be in the semis.

    Williamson 31, Neesham 14

You get the impression that Kane Williamson won't panic. He's happy enough to rotate the strike, work the singles where he can.

He's quick, too, calling Jimmy Neesham through for an extra run as Wahab Riaz is a little slow getting to the ball at mid-wicket.

As an England fan this is exactly what I want to see. 1. Highlighting NZ's weaknesses. 2. Showing Pakistan are a fantastic team. 3. Putting the pressure on us that we deserve. 4. (Hopefully) giving the World Cup another underdog victory

    Tom, Sheffield

Let's face it, England are stuffed and probably deservedly so given their last two perfomances.

I've forgotten what boundaries look like, it's been so long since I've seen one.

    My word!

Turn and bounce for Mohammad Hafeez, ripping a beauty past Jimmy Neesham's outside edge. Neesham prods suspiciously at the pitch.

  8. NZ 60-4published at 19 overs

In the blink of an eye, Shadab Khan has whirled through his first over.

A back foot cut from Kane Williamson races away but it's easily fielded by the man in the deep. The squeeze is on.

Shaheen Afridi is going to take a well deserved breather.

He's getting a standing ovation as he goes down to fine leg to field. Shadab Khan will replace him.

    Ooft!

Jimmy Neesham goes after Mohammad Hafeez, trying to loft him back down the ground, but he makes a right hash of it. He gets into a tangle, the ball slicing into the air from the toe end of the bat, and he's lucky that it gets over the head of mid-on and bobbles away for two.

Shaheen has been the pick of the bowlers by a country mile. He has good pace, up around 90mph, but gets that height and bounce too. He's going for 1.5 an over!

What a day Shaheen Afridi has had.

  13. NZ 54-4published at 17 overs

    Shaheen 7-3-12-3

Kane Williamson hops onto his toes and pushes a leisurely single off Shaheen's final ball.

    Two from the over. Expensive!

  14. NZ 53-4published at 16.3 overs

Jimmy Neesham ruins that very niche record by taking a quick single!

Ooft, that was risky. The shy went to Neesham's end but Kane Williamson, running to the striker's end, would have been struggling.

No-one has bowled four maidens in an innings in this World Cup.

Shaheen Afridi has got three to his name already - and here he goes...

Iljas Najib: In 1992 it was the cornered tigers of Pakistan that shocked the world. In 2019 it’s the sleeping giants waking up!

Zakir Gondal: In 1992 World Cup, New Zealand were unbeaten in group stages until they played Pakistan.....just saying.

Rhiannon Garth Jones: Even with the implications for England, it's impossible not to cheer on this Pakistan side.

New Zealand need a hero. They need someone to do the job that Ben Stokes did for England after those four early wickets.

  18. NZ 52-4published at 16 overs

    Williamson 25, Latham 4

Four runs are all New Zealand can scamper off the over.

Plenty of time left, of course, but Pakistan are whizzing through their overs...

Shaheen Afridi coughs up a misfield with an overambitious shy at the stumps, allowing Jimmy Neesham to jog two off Mohammad Hafeez.

He's got figures of 3-9 to his name, though, so you'll probably let him off.
