After nicely getting into its stride, the County Championship now takes a back seat until the middle of May.

That's because we've got the One-Day Cup to come over the next five weeks or so.

It all starts on Wednesday and here's the first set of group fixtures on the agenda as Hampshire begin the defence of their title:

Chester-le-Street: Durham v Northamptonshire

Old Trafford: Lancashire v Worcestershire

Headingley: Yorkshire v Leicestershire

Sophia Gardens: Glamorgan v Essex

Bristol: Gloucestershire v Surrey

Canterbury: Kent v Hampshire

Division One:

Edgbaston: Kent 504-9 dec & 124-2 v Warwickshire 346 & 280 (f/o) - Kent beat Warwickshire by eight wickets

The Oval: Surrey 395 & 324-6 dec v Essex 448 & 0-0 - Match drawn

Ageas Bowl: Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 302 & 208 - Yorkshire beat Hampshire by an innings and 44 runs

Division Two:

Lord's: Middlesex 265 & 200 v Lancashire 427 & 42-3 - Lancashire beat Middlesex by seven wickets

Grace Road: Worcestershire 553-6 dec v Leicestershire 302 & 233 (f/o) - Worcestershire beat Leicestershire by an innings and 18 runs

Bristol: Derbyshire 291 & 388-3 dec v Gloucestershire 350 - Match drawn

Sophia Gardens: Glamorgan 570-8 dec & 70-1 v Northamptonshire 750 - Match drawn

Chester-le-Street: Durham 224 & 189 v Sussex 202 & 212-4 - Sussex won by six wickets

Miles over-pitches and Renshaw drives down the ground.

That's four and the target is down to single figures.

Four more through the off side. Half appeal for lbw as Renshaw blocks and the umpire says no.

Inside edge? And that's it! Down the leg side and flicked away to square leg for four.

A good fightback from Warwickshire to take the game deep into day four, but in the end they just didn't score enough runs in the first innings.

Hats off to Harry Podmore for a second innings 5-62 and good resistance from Tim Ambrose (107) and Henry Brookes (84).

Kent beat Warwickshire by eight wickets meaning a losing start for the Bears but one win and a defeat for promoted Kent.

Bell-Drummond uses his feet and tries to drive Patel through cover but can't the ball away.

Patel is giving the batsman nothing here.

The batsman tries to force the ball away off the back foot but again can't get it away. Maiden over.

A single apiece to Renshaw and Bell-Drummond off Patel and Renshaw pinches the strike with a nudge to square leg for one.

Renshaw is forced to defend by Miles, bowling full and straight - and the batsman plays and misses at the fourth ball.

A checked drive off the fifth and a block off the sixth. Maiden over.

One of the most curious endings to a game you will see.

Surrey declared not with a view of setting Essex a target of 272 in a minimum of 19 overs, but just to bowl one over to get their over rate level.

Rory Burns bowled the over to Jamie Porter, opening the batting with Sir Alastair Cook for the first and possibly last time. So Surrey don't win their opening game, but they can look back on some good individual performances from their younger players.

Essex, rejuvenated by the return of Peter Siddle, will be delighted with a much improved performance and a haul of 13 points.

Craig Miles into the attack and giving no width at all.

Until the third ball, which scuttles away down fine leg for four leg byes.

Renshaw drives at the fourth and gets a thick inside edge to mid-wicket for one more.

A brace of fours to Bell-Drummond through square leg and cover point.

So, we're down to just the one match to finish and Kent look like they will complete a well-earned win....

Bell-Drummond plays Patel with a little more respect than Crawley and Renshaw did - with no reverse sweep in sight so far.

Ooh! A play and miss outside off. Just the one run from the over.

Hardly a shock to report it, but Glamorgan draw with Northamptonshire.

What a torrid four days for the bowlers at Sophia Gardens as just 19 wickets fall for a total of 1,390 runs.

Records have been set though which I suppose is one thing you can say, but I can't imagine many who saw it would've been enthralled by the one-sided battle between bat and ball.

Both sides takes 11 points for their efforts in the game though.

Brookes bowls full and straight to the new batsman, Daniel Bell-Drummond.

But the third ball is wide of off stump and flayed away for four.

Four more! This time off a pull to square leg.

The fifth ball s way down leg and Bell-Drummond can't reach it.

An appeal for lbw off the sixth... not out. That looked a bit leg side.

Not really sure what to say about the conclusion of all that, but one thing I can say is that the eventual outcome was expected at The Oval.

Essex came out for one over of their second innings being set the nominal target of 272 to win.

But, it was Jamie Porter opening with Sir Alastair Cook and Rory Burns doing the bowling for Surrey!

Needless to say, Porter just blocked six balls and then the handshakes followed. Quite strange.

All in all - Surrey draw with Essex - Surrey with 11 points, Essex with 13.

And they've shaken hands on an early finish at Bristol as Gloucestershire draw with Derbyshire.

Not exactly one to get that excited about there over the past four days as we only get mid-way through three innings.

But, from a personal milestone perspective - Derbyshire finish their second innings with two big run-scorers in Wayne Madsen (204 not out) and Alex Hughes (109 not out).

11 points for Gloucestershire and nine for Derbyshire is the tale for the table.

All over finally at Lord's after a couple of wobbles for Lancashire.

Rob Jones backs up his first-innings ton by cutting the winning runs for four behind point off Dawid Malan.

Lancashire beat Middlesex by seven wickets and it's been largely thanks to their bowling efforts today in mopping up Middlesex's second innings in quick time.

One win from one for the Red Rose then and one draw and a defeat for Middlesex so far in this championship campaign.

Jeetan Patel is on now and Crawley immediately reverse sweeps for four!

Four more! This time from a lofted drive over the bowler's head. A single off the fourth ball and now Renshaw gets in on the act with a reverse sweep for four.

Very expensive over and this match is moving on pretty sharpish.

It's largely academic, but Surrey have finally declared their second innings.

Rikki Clarke and Tom Curran shared a bit of a partnership for their seventh wicket but now they've been given the wave from the balcony to come in.

By my reckoning, that'll probably give Essex about 20 minutes of batting before they can shake hands on an early finish.

Nifty footwork from Crawley, who moves quickly back and across to nudge another single through the off side.

The fourth ball is hammered through cover by Renshaw for four.

A half appeal for lbw is turned down and Crawley scampers back to his crease after wandering halfway down the pitch.

Four runs down the ground to Renshaw off the last ball.

That's the 50 partnership.
