    Surrey 395 & 189-2 v Essex 448

And Ollie Pope continues where he left off before lunch at The Oval with a crunching square cut for four off Peter Siddle.

Essex bowlers getting no change on this final day despite a couple of early scalps first thing this morning.

The lead now 136 for the defending champions.

  2. Bears reach 200published at 13:44 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 200-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 42

    Shot!

Tim Ambrose crunches Harry Podmore through the off side for his 11th four - and there's the Warwickshire 200.

  3. Restart at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 302 & 157-8 (f/o)

And we're back under way for the Keith Barker and Liam Dawson resistance show.

Hampshire frustrated Yorkshire in that second hour and the ninth-wicket pair added 98 before the interval.

Barker survives a half-chance in the over after lunch though as his edge off Ben Coad lands just between first and second slip.

  4. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 195-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 37

What could be termed an "awkward target" then?

Well, the Bears will certainly need more than 37 on this wicket.

Tim Ambrose (70*) and Henry Brookes (42*) to continue the rearguard.

    Harry Podmore to bowl.

  5. WORCESTERSHIRE BEAT LEICESTERSHIRE BY AN INNINGS AND 18 RUNSpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 14 April 2019
    Breaking

    Worcs (553-6 dec) beat Leics (302 & 233)

A Worcestershire win was always the most likely outcome after Colin Ackermann was caught behind off the bowling of Ross Whiteley for 69 this afternoon.

However, Tom Taylor also resisted well with an innings of 57, adding 59 with Ackermann and another 27 with the number 11 Will Davis before being last out, caught by Whiteley off the bowling of Charlie Morris - who took 7-45 in the innings.

Leicestershire remain top of the table for now on 25 points after beating Sussex in the opening round, but the Pears are just one point behind in second place with a game in hand.

  8. Middlesex maintain resistance against Red Rosepublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Middlesex 265 & 136-4 v Lancashire 427

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London at Lord's

Lancashire were made to wait, but struck twice just before Lunch on the final day to maintain their grip on the match.

Nightwatchman James Harris resisted the strong visiting attack before flaying at a wide ball and was quickly followed back to the pavilion by opener Sam Robson, who had looked well set with his half-century but edged James Anderson to the keeper.

The pitch has appeared to slow as the match has progressed, but a mighty effort is required by what remains of their innings if they're to bat out the remainder of the day to save the match.

  9. Derbyshire hanging in therepublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Derbyshire 291 & 186-3 v Gloucestershire 350

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Derbyshire’s batsmen have been relatively untroubled by the Gloucestershire bowlers as the match at the County Ground appeared to be heading for a draw.

Tom Lace reached his third half-century of the season – and second in the match - before he was the only man to be dismissed in the morning session.

He went for 57 after adding 92 for the third wicket with Wayne Madsen.

Madsen (82 not out) and Alex Hughes (35 not out) steered the visitors to 186 for three at lunch, a lead of 127.

  10. In Division Two...published at 13:13 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

Lancashire are regaining control at Lord's after a promising partnership between Sam Robson and James Harris was broken by Josh Bohannon, who had Harris caught by Brooke Guest for 20.

Jimmy Anderson dismissed Sam Robson three balls later and Middlesex are 26 behind on 136-4 at lunch.

Leicestershire are in danger of defeat at home to Worcestershire - where the hosts are currently 29 behind on 222-9.

Ross Whiteley took the vital wicket of Colin Ackermann, caught behind for 69.

Derbyshire are 186-3 at lunch against Gloucestershire at Bristol and lead by 127 runs.

A draw is all but certain on a flat wicket at Cardiff where Northants are 629-5 in their first innings leading Glamorgan by 59.

Six batsmen have scored centuries in the match to date.

  11. Ambrose and Brookes defy Kentpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 195-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 37

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

At midday, those inside the ground might have assumed they would be unpacking their lunches on the bus home, as they watched Craig Miles become the seventh Warwickshire player dismissed in the second innings with the Bears still 37 runs behind.

But Tim Ambrose remained willing if he could find a partner who was able, and Henry Brookes, scorer of two half-centuries in the lower order last season, took on the task with confidence.

The 19-year-old number nine crunched a few satisfying boundaries early on to settle in, while Ambrose, who had played with soft enough hands to make sure a couple of early edges fell short of the slips, accumulated steadily.

By the break they had erased that deficit of 37 and added as many again.

After what happened at Taunton last week, Kent would have been in no danger of celebrating a win prematurely in any case.

  12. Lunch time scorespublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

"What are the scores? George Dawes..." as they used to say on Shooting Stars with Vic and Bob.

No Matt Lucas here I'm sorry to say, but I do have some scorecards for you at the interval.

  13. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 195-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 37

Kent turn to spin just before the break.

Three singles off Matt Renshaw and fellow offie Adam Riley concedes four off the fifth ball of his seventh over.

Ambrose survives the last ball and that's lunch.

A slender lead but who knows what might happen if Ambrose and Brookes can stretch the target to three figures?

70 not out for the keeper-batsman and Brookes has a handy 42 not out off just 56 balls.

  14. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Surrey 395 & 185-2 v Essex 448

And that's also lunch at The Oval where after a promising start for Essex with two wickets in two overs, it's been all Surrey since.

They lead by 132 runs now after Rory Burns (88 not out) and Ollie Pope (61 not out) have added 114 for this third wicket.

  15. Lunch at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Yorkshire 554-7 dec v Hampshire 302 & 157-8 (f/o)

Lunch down in Hampshire where Liam Dawson and Keith Barker are just two runs shy of a century partnership for the ninth wicket.

They have hung around and shown some positive intent to force this match into a penultimate session.

They're still 95 runs short of making the White Rose bat again but at least they've made their bowlers toil a bit longer.

  16. Ambrose and Brookes defy Kentpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 18-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 26

Milnes drops short and Brookes lashes the ball away through cover for his seventh four.

He picks up a couple more off the fourth ball and a single off the fifth.

Four more to Ambrose with a gorgeous drive down the ground.

  17. 100 partnership for Burns and Popepublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Surrey 395 & 175-2 v Essex 448

    Burns and PopeImage source, rex

Runs keep flowing for Surrey as Essex now into using some of their part-time bowling options.

Rory Burns (83 not out) and Ollie Pope (56 not out) have now put on more than 100 for this third wicket to push the lead up to 122.

  18. Kent frustrated by Ambrose and Brokespublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 169-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 11

Ambrose gets a single to square leg off the first ball of the Milnes over.

Brookes picks up a couple with a push through cover point and pulls a short one in front of square for four to move past 30.

    That's the 50 partnership in 64 balls.

This is a more than irritating partnership from Kent's point of view.

  19. Bears get a slender leadpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Warwks 346 & 165-7 (f/o) v Kent 504-9 dec - lead by 7

Another fine shot from Ambrose, who gets up on his toes to drive Milnes through the covers off the back foot for four.

This is a handy little partnership - now worth 44.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Ollie Popepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Surrey 395 & 164-2 v Essex 448

    Shot from Ollie Pope!

It all looks very simple going for him and Rory Burns now as Pope reaches his 50 with a majestic cover drive off Jamie Porter for an eighth boundary of a 59-ball half-century.

There was also a six in there too for good measure.

Surrey now 111 ahead as we move towards a century partnership and lunch.
