I don't think it's going to be long before we see the players leaving for the pavilion.

  2. Eng 1-0published at 0.4 overs

With rain in the air, Shamilia Connell takes the new ball for West Indies (I nearly typed "Wet Indies" there, which may be something of a Freudian slip considering the forecast).

Connell, right-arm over, starts well, and Jones opens her account on her birthday with a single to cover.

  3. Happy birthday, Amy Jones!published at 14:00 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

It's many happy returns today to England opener Amy Jones, born on this day 26 years ago in Sutton Coldfield.

She shares a birthday with former South Africa Mignon du Preez, who's turning 30 today.

Jones and opening partner Tammy Beaumont are opening for England.

  4. Who is Bryony Smith?published at 13:59 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

What more can I tell you about Bryony Smith, who makes her ODI debut today?

She's 21, and very much from the Surrey ranks - born in Sutton, she plays for Surrey in the Women's County Championship, and won the Super League title last year with Surrey Stars.

A right-handed batter and off-spin bowler, she made her England debut last year in the T20 tri-series against Australia and India in Mumbai - and was awarded a rookie central contract by England in February.

She's also shown some prolific batting form in the domestic game this season, including a century against Nottinghamshire a couple of weeks ago.

  6. ICC Women's Championshippublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

A quick look at the standings shows that England will go top of the table if they avoid defeat today - albeit that Australia will have the small matter of SIX games in hand.

Hosts New Zealand plus the top other four teams qualify automatically for the 2021 World Cup. Australia and England are pretty much there... and TMS reckon that an England win today guarantees qualification.

We know there are showers around, but we expect to get a game in - but with the odd delay.

  9. Fortress Chelmsfordpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

The England players call this venue "Fortress Chelmsford" - and with good reason. It's been a ground for celebration for England's women, who have won every single international game they've ever played there.

    There have been triumphs over South Africa (ODIs in 2000 & 2003, and a T20 in 2014), New Zealand (an ODI in 2004, T20s in 2010, 2011 & 2018), Australia (two ODIs in 2009, T20s in 2013 & 2015), India (a T20 in 2012) and Pakistan (a T20 in 2016).

Played 13, won 13. Can they make it 14?

West Indies aren't putting England under any pressure when they're batting so we're not finding a lot out about the England bowlers ahead of the Ashes.

It didn't really look like West Indies' players were into this game when they were warming up.

  12. The story so farpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

England have been the dominant team in the series so far - winning by 208 runs in Leicester and, when the weather finally allowed, triumphing by 121 runs on the DLS method in a rain-reduced match at Worcester.

Can they make it three from three - and extend their overall winning streak to 13 games across all formats - at Chelmsford?

It's not nice today. It's a brisk day. It's going to be a tough day for cricket I think.

  14. Captain's viewpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

England captain Heather Knight: "We were going to bowl too with the unpredictable weather around but it looks a good pitch. We're going to have to be adaptable.

"Today is about finishing off the series well and maintaining and pushing our standards."

On the changes: "We want that squad depth to keep pushing forwards from outside and within the squad."

  16. Captain's viewpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor: "We've decided to bowl first because of the climate. The pitch looks good, we were fortunate enough to have a hit in the net to see how it played.

"We've talked about our strengths and how as players we've got to take responsibility for our actions. The bowlers have to show application at the crease and the bowlers have to bowl well and put the ball in the right area."

  17. Three changes for Englandpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

In fact, England have made three changes. We knew Brunt and Sciver were sitting this one out - while off-spinner Laura Marsh also steps down today.

In comes Bryony Smith for her ODI debut, while there's also recalls for batter Fran Wilson and all-rounder Jenny Gunn.

  18. Brunt and Sciver rested for final ODIpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 13 June 2019

With the series won, England have shuffled their squad for this final ODI. Katherine Brunt and Natalie Sciver are rested, with spinner Alex Hartley also omitted after not featuring in the first two games.

In comes all-rounder Bryony Smith - while, with the squad reduced to 13, there's a chance for others who have not played in the series so far, to stake a claim...
