Time for another reminder that Gloucestershire are playing a one-day game against Australia A at Bristol and are now 192-2 in the 38th over after being put in by Travis Head.

James Bracey is 83 not out and Iain Cockbain has 19. George Hankins was the last man to go, caught for 70 off Mitchell Marsh, who has claimed both wickets so far.

Division two leaders Glamorgan lost their first wicket just before lunch when Owen Morgan was caught at first slip off Adam Finch for 28.

The ball seemed to bounce a little more than Morgan expected and Riki Wessels had little difficulty accepting the chance in front of his chest.

Morgan shared an opening stand of 80 with Nick Selman, who is 45 not out, with the prolific Marnus Labuschagne yet to score.

  4. Mullaney playing a captain's inningspublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Notts 97-2 v Essex

    Michael Perkins
    BBC Sport

This is exactly what we love about the County Championship: A captain in a struggling side takes responsibility and says "I'll open".

Nottinghamshire's Steven Mullaney, who incidentally is a top person to meet if you ever come across him, is the individual in question.

At lunch, he has made 57 not out from 96 balls, having been the epitome of positivity.

He has hit two sixes but did have a let-off when Nick Browne attempted a spectacular catch at the end of an eventful 16th over, which also brought 15 runs.

Mullaney will no doubt have told one or two who have had rare starts for Nottinghamshire this season that they needed to have gone on to a big score - and that will be his task this afternoon.

A good morning for Sussex who having lost the toss have reduced the visitors to 96-4

Ollie Robinson was again the pick of the Sussex bowling taking two wickets and beating the bat on numerous occasions

Rob Keogh has battled through to lunch on 21 not out and will be hoping to rebuild with skipper Adam Rossington after the interval

  6. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Derbyshire 116-0 v Middlesex

Middlesex are still waiting for their first success at Derby, where openers Billy Godleman and Luis Reece have batted through the morning session for the home side.

Godleman has hit a six and 10 fours in his 63 not out and Reece is on 51 after bring up his half-century from 92 balls with a single off Nathan Sowter just before lunch.

Just a quick reminder that there is no Wayne Madsen in the Derbyshire team this game because of an ankle sprain.

  7. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Yorkshire 130-1 v Surrey

Gary Ballance steers a wide half-volley from Rikki Clarke through the covers for four as Yorkshire complete an excellent morning's work at Scarborough.

The White Rose county are scoring at almost four and a half runs per over following an opening stand of 116 between Adam Lyth and Will Fraine.

Lyth's downfall for 55 was unnecessary - a poor shot by the left-hander - but opening partner Fraine is still there on 60 not out, after being dropped on 31 by Surrey's Dean Elgar.

  8. Lunch at Sedbergh Schoolpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Lancashire 71-1 v Durham

A good morning for Lancashire on the first day of county cricket at England's newest first-class venue.

Chris Rushworth got one through the defences of his old Durham team-mate Keaton Jennings. But there has been no further change offered by Alex Davies (38) and Haseeb Hameed (20).

One small break for a short typical Cumbrian shower early on. But otherwise a memorable occasion for all the many visitors, including several illustrious former Lancashire players.

Sedbergh School's backdrop certainly looks a little more scenic than Accrington.

  9. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Somerset 98-1 v Hampshire

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

With the ball seaming around, Somerset have done particularly well to reach the break only one wicket down.

Yes, the batsmen have a played and missed a bit, and left one or two balls that have bounced over the stumps.

But James Hildreth, who looked a little shaky early on, is now into his stride on 51 not out and Tom Abell has batted calmly for 30 and not taken any risks.

Hampshire will be disappointed with just the one success to show for two hours work, but there have been several overs where they have bowled a little too short and the pressure was taken off.

  10. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Notts 97-2 v Essex

Great effort from Notts skipper Steven Mullaney following is decision to thrust himself back to the top of the order, in a bid to solve the Divison One bottom side's batting woes this season.

He has hit six fours and two sixes in his 57, having so far put on 26 for the third wicket with Chris Nash (14).

  12. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Kent 116-0 (32 overs) v Warwickshire

A wicketless first session for the injury-ravaged Warwickshire pace attack at Canterbury.

Zak Crawley is on 62, Sean Dickson is on 46.

Bears skipper Jeetan Patel has settled into his rhythm, having conceded just 13 runs in his first six overs of spin, including two maidens.

That has brought a measure of control, having pegged back the early run rate of more than five an over. But, already this is looking like a bad toss to have lost.

for James Hildrethpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Somerset 95-1 v Hampshire

James Hildreth reaches 50 for the seventh time in all competitions this summer by pulling a rank long-hop from leg-spinner Mason Crane for four.

It's taken him 78 balls. Will today be the day he finally converts one into a hundred?

WICKET Lyth c Smith b Clarke 55published at 12:55 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Yorkshire 116-1 v Surrey

A gift for Surrey just before lunch as Adam Lyth slams an angled ball from Rikki Clarke to point, where 18-year-old Jamie Smith hangs onto the catch.

Lyth is not best pleased with himself after effectively going up to a gift horse and saying 'open wide, please'.

Yorkshire opener Will Fraine reaches a maiden Championship half-century off 89 balls by pulling Morne Morkel away for four - the 10th boundary of his innings.

He celebrates with another little moonwalk backwards shuffle (see 12:29 entry) - which is fast becoming his 'thing'.

100 up for Kent against Bearspublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Kent 100-0

Runs all round the country today. And, having been invited to bowl first with their injury-depleted new-look attack, Warwickshire can at least take comfort from the fact that they were certainly not the first to hoist the hundred!

Zak Crawley leading the way on 56. Sean Dickson, who has received slightly less of the strike, also going well on 36.

  18. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

It's been a very good morning so far for Derbyshire, who are 105-0 in the 24th over against Middlesex. Billy Godleman is 60 not out and Luis Reece has 43.

South Africa's Temba Bavuma has gone for 14 at Hove, caught behind off Aaron Thomason, with his Northants side now 74-3 after 25 overs against Sussex.

Leaders Glamorgan continue to defy the Worcestershire attack at Cardiff, progressing to 68-0 in the 25th over with Nick Selman and Owen Morgan still together.

And Lancashire are 62-1 after 22 at Sedbergh School, where Chris Rushworth's dismissal of England's Keaton Jennings is the only success for Durham so far.

This one goes to the cover boundary, to add to his previous five fours and two sixes.

  20. Somerset content to bide timepublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

    Somerset 70-1 v Hampshire

Hampshire have really tightened things up in recent overs at Taunton.

James Hildreth and Tom Abell are advancing the total with singles, but they won't care about that if they are still together at lunch.

Hildreth is 37 not out, and captain Abell has 18.
