After 2,000 plus runs on day one, it has been another good one for batting, with five players making centuries.
They included established names Mark Stoneman, Sam Northeast, Daniel Bell-Drummond, and, for the first time in a Championship match, Derbyshre's Leus du Plooy, while Bell-Drummond's team-mate Sean Dickson went for 161 after resuming on 146.
Perhaps the best innings of all though was from Essex's Nick Browne, who ended a two-year wait to reach three figures with an unbeaten 163 against Notts at Trent Bridge and will not be under any time pressure when he tries to make it a double on Tuesday.
The main bowling honours were shared between Brett D'Oliveira (7-92), Ben Sanderson (6-37) and Somerset's Jamie Overton, whose 5-88 has put the Division One leaders on course for some sort of first-innings lead against Hampshire.
We'll be back again tomorrow at 10:30 for the third day's play. See you then.
