  1. Surrey progressing wellpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 v Surrey 172-2

Mark Stoneman really is making it look relatively easy today and his timing is perfect as he flicks Ben Coad away to mid-wicket for a boundary that brings up a 50 partnership with Ryan Patel.

Coad finds the edge of Patel's bat with his final delivery of the over, but the ball runs down to third man for four more. He has 25, and Stoneman is on 86.

WICKET Rahane c Gregory b Leach 55published at 14:07 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Hampshire 408 v Hampshire 137-3

That's a great piece of bowling by Jack Leach, who floats one up and induces a drive from Ajinkya Rahane, but the ball turns enough to find the edge and an alert Lewis Gregory takes the catch at slip.

Rahane's dismissal ends a stand of 101 with Sam Northeast, who has now been joined by Rilee Rossouw. Not a man to be tied down, it should be very interesting when he is on strike to Leach.

    Kent 513-5 v Warwickshire

James Wainman celebrates a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Daniel Bell-Drummond is fifth man out for Kent following his 10th first-class century - and his highest-ever County Championship score.

A third victim for one of Warwickshire's new boys James Wainman on his first-class debut.

The former Yorkshire left-armer had him caught behind chasing a wide one, a good take by Bears keeper Tim Ambrose high to his right.

New man in for Kent is Grant Stewart.

  4. 50 runs

for Ajinkya Rahanepublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 131-2

Just minutes after partner Sam Northeast reached 50, Ajinkya Rahane does likewise as he dabs Lewis Gregory down to third man for four.

It's the Indian's first half-century since making 119 against Notts on the Isle of Wight in May - and in that innings he and Northeast shared a stand of 257.

The current one is worth 96 and Somerset need to find a way to end it.

  6. Pitch perfect at Sedbergh Schoolpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Lancashire 337, Durham 9-0

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

As the mist and fog tumbles down the Cumbrian fells, after a quick burst from each of them before lunch, James Anderson and Graham Onions will relish the prospect of bowling on a pitch that appears to have quickened up on Day Two.

With a couple of deliveries keeping low at one end and lifting at the other, it has kept the batsman on their toes this morning.

But, aside from the spectacular scenery, for an outground staging its first County Championship match, this has been an excellent cricket pitch.

After a late lunch at 1:30, we are due to resume again at 2.10.

  7. 50 runs

for Sam Northeastpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 116-2

After an over of spin from Jack Leach, it's Lewis Gregory from the other end and Sam Northeast clips his third ball away through mid-wicket for four to reach a 91-ball half-century.

The former Kent batsman is having a really good season thus far, despite the responsibility of leading the team when James Vince is away with England - like now.

  9. Luncheon is served at Sedbergh Schoolpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Lancashire 337, Durham 9-0

Durham's openers Cameron Bancroft and Alex Lees get through the first five overs of Jimmy Anderson and Graham Onions.

Bancroft already onto 8, off 16 balls, with one boundary.

Good test for Australian Bancroft - exactly a month before the start of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, on 1 August.

Anderson should be there. Not sure about Bancroft, who has not noticeably been rushed back into the Australian fold quite as fast as David Warner and Steve Smith were.

  10. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Northamptonshire 273 v Sussex 83-7

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

    Ben SandersonImage source, Rex Features

Another top order batting collapse has left Sussex in deep trouble at Hove

Northants have bowled well particularly, especially Ben Sanderson, who has 4-25, and have caught magnificently in the slips, but the Sussex batsmen look out of sorts and low on confidence.

The pitch is blameless, offering some bounce and movement, but for the batsman who are prepared to play straight there are runs to be made.

  11. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Glamorgan 449 v Worcestershire 6-0

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Brett D’Oliveira has kept Worcestershire in the contest with a career-best 7-92, although Glamorgan still posted an impressive total.

D’Oliveira’s highest batting score of 202 also came in Cardiff, so he clearly enjoys his visits to Sophia Gardens.

Tom Cullen reached his fourth 50 of the season with useful tail-end cameos from Lukas Carey, Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hogan as Glamorgan claimed maximum batting points.

Daryl Mitchell and Josh Dell then batted out the five overs before lunch, but the visitors need a solid performance to match the day-one innings of Marnus Labuschagne and David Lloyd.

One Welsh listener reports that a calf on his family farm has been named Marnus in honour of the country’s top scorer in the Championship.

  12. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Derbyshire 488-5 v Middlesex

Having taken three steps down the pitch and belted Steven Finn back over his head for six, Leus du Plooy fell for 118 three overs before lunch, when he was caught at backward point off George Scott.

Three Middlesex bowlers have already gone for over 100, and Toby Roland-Jones will soon join them as he has 0-99 from 29 overs so far.

Derbyshire added 116 during the morning for the loss of du Plooy, but Anuj Dal is still there on 57 not ouit as they look to push on beyond 500 during the afternoon.

  13. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 105-2

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Ajinkya Rahane (41*) & Sam Northeast (42*) have so far added 68 for the third wicket for Hampshire.

They have batted together for an hour and a half after the unlucky Joe Weatherley was caught down the leg side off Jamie Overton.

Overton, who tore in as usual and made the ball bounce, and Lewis Gregory have been made to work hard against batsmen with sound technique.

Although there was some movement this morning, it was nothing like the same as this time yesterday. It's just Hampshire didn't use it as well.

Jack Leach has got the odd ball to turn but no more. His time may yet come later in the game

Runs have again been in plentiful supply in Kent this morning.

    Yorkshire 327 v Surrey 148-2

A good morning for champions Surrey at Scarborough with exactly 100 runs added for the loss of Dean Elgar and Scott Borthwick.

Mark Stoneman collects a single off the final over of the session, bowled by Keshav Maharaj, to advance to 71 not out, and has already hit 10 fours.

Ryan Patel is on 17 and the wickets to fall have been taken by Ben Coad and David Willey.

Jimmy Anderson is last man out for Lancashire, to earn Nathan Rimmington his fourth wicket.

The England fast bowler is caught at short cover by Graham Clark for 4.

Josh Bohannon was the not-out batsman on 33.

A possible three overs, maybe four, for the Durham batsmen to face from Anderson and Graham Onions before lunch.

    Notts 213, Essex 155-2

    Nick BrowneImage source, Rex Features

A steady morning's progress for Essex at Trent Bridge.

Only one wicket lost by the visitors, who are now within 58 runs of Nottinghamshire.

But the Notts bowlers have still done well, to limit Essex to just 83 runs in the session.

Tom Westley was the only wicket, for Indian Test spinner Ravi Asewin, who bowled almost unchanged throughout the morning session.

Nick Browne is on 67, to match his best Championship score of the season. Dan Lawrence is on 36.

The shortest rain break in cricket history at Sedbergh School?

Trooping off the pitch and then immediately back on again has certainly worked for Josh Bohannon, who has begun to go for his shots.

  20. Hants reach three figurespublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 100-2

Somerset have reverted to seam at Taunton, with spinner Jack Leach taken out of the attack after sending down seven overs at a cost of nine runs.

Ajinkya Rahane clips Jamie Overton away for his fourth boundary and an on-drive brings him number five to end the over as he joins partner Sam Northeast on 39 not out.

Their third-wicket partnership is now worth 63.
