  1. wicket

WICKET Croft c Bancroft b Carse 42published at 11:47 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Lancashire 293-6 v Durham

A second bowling point for Durham in Cumbria.

Steven Croft's attempt to speed up the scoring rate in search of batting points costs him his wicket.

After consecutive fours off Brydon Carse to get to 42, Croft then edges to Cameron Bancroft at slip as the South African bags him with one that bounced a bit more.

  2. wicket

WICKET Westley c Mullaney b Ashwin 42published at 11:44 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 95-2

First wicket of the day at Trent Bridge - and it's a first Nottinghamshire wicket for Ravi Ashwin.

After limiting Essex to just nine runs from the opening 10 overs bowled by Ashwin and Stuart Broad, Westley then opened his shoulders.

But, in the over after taking Ashwin for consecutive boundaries, the Indian Test spinner quickly got his revenge.

He becomes James Wainman's first first-class victim.

  4. wicket

    WICKET Weatherley c Davies b J Overton 14published at 11:35 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 37-2

The umpire takes his time, but then decides there was a touch on either Joe Weatherley's glove or bat as the ball fizzed down the leg-side. The Hampshire opener departs and it's a second wicket of the innings for Jamie Overton, even though that was hardly one of his best deliveries.

Two balls later, Hants skipper Sam Northeast punches a boundary through the covers off the back foot to open his account.

  5. Division Two round-uppublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Following the loss of Graham Wagg, leaders Glamorgan have moved on to 371-7 in the 104th over against Worcestershire, with Tom Cullen now 35 not out.

Leus du Plooy has progressed to 65 not out with Derbyshire now 392-4 in the 105th in their home game against Middlesex.

Sussex are in trouble at Hove, losing Luke Wells and Aaron Thomason in successive overs against Northants. The home side are 25-4, still trailing by 248.

Play has just got under way at Sedbergh School after a 30-minute rain delay and Lancashire are 278-5 against Durham.

  6. Underway at Sedberghpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Lancashire 275-5 v Durham

Dane Vilas and Steven Croft had put on 47 when they left the field at Sedbergh School at the close on Sunday eveningImage source, Rex Features

After a start delayed for half an hour by a spot of Cumbrian morning mizzle, they're finally underway at scenic Sedbergh School.

Three runs off the first over by Chris Rushworth, to allow Dane Vilas and Steven Croft to complete their 50 partnership.

Vilas has moved on to 70. Croft is still on 29.

  7. No breakthrough yet for leaderspublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 37-1

Nothing doing for Division One leaders Somerset in the first half dozen overs at Taunton.

There have been a couple of fours by Ajinkya Rahane off Lewis Gregory, but Jamie Overton is keeping it really tight at the other end.

Rahane is 20 not out and partner Joe Weatherley has 14.

  8. Watchful start by Nottspublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 80-1

    Ravichandran AshwinImage source, Rex

Eight overs bowled at Trent Bridge - and only eight runs scored.

With Indian Test spinner Ravi Ashwin on already, in tandem with England's Stuart Broad, it's careful progress against this all-international attack from Essex opener Nick Browne (41) and Tom Westley (31).

  9. wicket

WICKET Elgar b Coad 24published at 11:24 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 v Surrey 68-1

Yorkshire strike at Scarborough as Dean Elgar tries to take his bat away from a delivery from Ben Coad, butr does so too late and deflects the ball into his stumps.

The South African can't believe what he has done and looks to the skies, then stares at the pitch before swishing his bat above the stumps and walking off.

  10. wicket

WICKET Wagg c Ferguson b Finch 4published at 11:22 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Glamorgan 365-7 v Worcestershire

We have a wicket - and it's fallen in Cardiff.

Adam Finch digs in a short one at Graham Wagg who tries to pull it away, but only succeeds in skying a catch to Callum Ferguson at mid-off.

The Division Two leaders have 8.3 overs left to score another 35 runs for maximum batting points. Tom Cullen is still there on 33 not out.

  11. Kent off and running againpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Kent 363-2 v Warwickshire

    Sean DicksonImage source, Rex Features

Kent have carried on where they left off last night. 25 runs added already in five overs

Sean Dickson has moved on to 155, and Danel Bell-Drummond is already on to 76.

He looks likely to be Kent's first centurion. Who will be the Bears' first though in their beleaguered bowling attack?

  12. Yorkshire strive for right lengthpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 v Surrey 63-0

More boundaries at Scarborough where Dean Elgar drives Duanne Olivier down the ground and Mark Stoneman thumps a Ben Coad half-volley through the covers in the next over. Very comfortable indeed for both left-handers.

  13. Postpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Fifteen minutes gone, no wickets anywhere.

At whom will the moving finger of fate point first.

Wonder if Agatha Christie liked cricket?

  14. Inspecting at Sedberghpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Lancashire 275-5 v Durham

The light rain has stopped at Sedbergh School, umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and Paul Pollard have inspected. And we now have it confirmed that it will be an 11:30 start . . .

  16. Stoneman starts with fourpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 v Surrey 52-0

Surrey need two balls on day two to reach 50 as Mark Stoneman plays defensively forward to fast bowler Duanne Olivier with a slightly open face and the ball scoots down to third man for four. The boundary takes Stoneman to 32 not out, and partner Dean Elgar is 14.

  17. Early boundary for 'Jinx'published at 11:05 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 21-1

An easy boundary for Hampshire's Ajinkya Rahane at the start of day two at Taunton.

Lewis Gregory pushes one wide outside off stump and it's easy picking for the India batsman as he square cuts with the minimum of fuss.

  18. Postpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Sedbergh apart, all is ready. Let bat meet ball and, in the pavilions, fish paste meet buttered bread.

  19. Start delayed at Sedberghpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Lancashire 275-5 v Durham

Sadly, it looks like it might be a delayed start on day two at Sedbergh.

Looks like a classic bit of Cumbrian morning mizzle.

Hope the grey skies move on quickly.

It is now estimated that they might start at 11:30.

  20. 'Something there for bowlers' - Hildrethpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 15-1 (match resumes 11:00)

    James HildrethImage source, Getty Images

Somerset batsman James Hildreth insisted "the jury is still out" on the Taunton pitch despite making 105 in their 408 all out on day one against Hampshire.

"At times when I was batting it seemed pretty flat, but our later batsmen may not agree. The ball was certainly swinging at times and at the end there it nipped about a bit for our bowlers," he said.

The Division One leaders opted to include two spinners in their side, Jack Leach and Dom Bess, with paceman Craig Overton ruled out by injury.

"With our bowling attack, I feel confident we have enough runs to push on and win this game," Hildreth added.
