  1. wicket

WICKET Jones run out (Trevaskis) 5published at 15:20 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancashire 337 & 59-5, Durham 281

A bad piece of cricket from Lancashire as Rob Jones is run out by a great throw from Liam Trevaskis.

Non-striker Jones turned looking for a second run to a Dane Vilas clip through midwicket, but it always looked risky. The Trevaskis throw came in right over the top of the bails - and bowler Nathan Rimmington simply had to catch the ball before removing the middle stump.

  2. wicket

WICKET Livingstone c Bancroft b Raine 35published at 15:14 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancashire 337 & 55-4, Durham 281

A fourth Lancashire wicket goes down as last week's Durham hero Ben Raine gets in on the act.

He conjured an edge from Liam Livngstone, who is well taken at slip by Cameron Bancroft.

With a lead of only 111, a big innings is needed now from home skipper Dane Vilas, who comes out to join Rob Jones at the wicket.

  3. wicket

WICKET Azhar c Fuller b Abbott 79published at 15:13 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v 165-3 v Hampshire 349

Kyle Abbott bangs in a short one and Azhar Ali cannot resist an uppercut.

Unfortunately for him, James Fuller is patrolling the third man boundary and pulls off a diving catch.

An unnecessary stroke when the Pakistan opener had a great chance of a hundred.

George Bartlett is the new batsman, with Somerset 224 in front.

  4. wicket

WICKET Leaning lbw Clarke 0published at 15:09 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 168-4 v Surrey 362

Yorkshire in a bit of trouble now.

The 2018 champions have a ruthless streak and Rikki Clarke strikes again to remove Jack Leaning, who registers a pair.

The White Rose county are just 133 ahead. They need a substantial partnership.

  5. wicket

WICKET Mullaney b Porter 0published at 15:08 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213 & 0-1, Essex 519-9 dec

A nightmare start to the Notts second innings as skipper Steven Mullaney goes for a 10th-ball duck, following his first-innings 74.

He shoulders arms to Jamie Porter and pays the price as the ball jags back to rearrange his furniture.

They opened with Ben Duckett in the first innings. He has dropped back down the order, to allow Ben Slater to open with Mullaney.

Slater is still there, joined now by Chris Nash.

  6. wicket

WICKET Davies c Harte b Rimmington 15published at 15:02 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancashire 337 & 51-3, Durham 281

A third wicket for Durham as Alex Davies goes for 15.

Lancashire lead by 107. But they will not have the injured Jimmy Anderson to bowl for them in the final innings.

Liam Livingstone at least looks set on 34.

  7. wicket

WICKET Lyth c Foakes b Clarke 68published at 14:59 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 162-3 v Surrey 362

Once again Adam Lyth fails to convert a half-century into a three-figure score.

He departs in Scarborough after edging to the keeper as he attempted to drive a ball from Rikki Clarke.

Yorkshire are 127 ahead as Jack Leaning comes out on a pair.

If Surrey can pick up one or two more before tea, they will be in a very good position in the game.

  8. Somerset push lead past 200published at 14:57 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 152-2 v Hampshire 349

Runs are certainly not proving easy to come by at Taunton.

There hasn't been a single boundary since James Hildreth's dismissal, but Somerset won't care about that - they are over 200 in front with eight wickets remaining.

Azhar Ali is now 72 not out and Tom Banton has eight.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

Northants are in a hurry to wrap up their first win of the summer, reducting Sussex to 41-4 after setting them a target of 499. Brett Hutton has 3-24 so far.

Worcestershire are clinging on in Cardiff with Brett D'Oliveira 74 not out in their 337-9. Glamorgan's lead has now been cut to 112.

Lancashire are 38-2 at Sedbergh School, now 90 ahead of Durham, with Liam Livingstone on 25 not out.

  10. wicket

WICKET Bopara out and Essex declarepublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 519-9 dec

Ravi Bopara is caught on the midwicket boundary for 135, a superb catch by his old England team-mate Stuart Broad off Jake Ball.

That brings the Essex innings to an end as the visitors declare.

Notts will bat again, facing a deficit of 306 runs.

Division One's bottom club will do well to escape from this pickle.

That was Bopara's highest score in five years, incidentally.

  11. wicket

WICKET Siddle c Broad b Ball 33published at 14:42 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 519-8

Peter Siddle's little 39-ball cameo - containing two fours and two sixes - is brought to an end.

Jake Ball has him caught by Stuart Broad.

Runs coming a lot faster now for the visitors as their innings comes to an end, whether that means a declaration or being bowled out.

  12. 100 runs

for Dawid Malanpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Derbyshire 557-6 dec v Middlesex 279-6

    Dawid MalanImage source, Rex Features

Glorious by Dawid Malan, who slams Luis Reece through the covers for his third Championship hundred of the summer.

This one has taken exactly 200 balls and there is no doubt whatsoever that the Middlesex skipper wants to be part of that Ashes series.

  13. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

We mentioned Matt Critchley's brilliant slip catch at Derby in the 14:25 entry.

    Take a look at this.

  14. Update on Jimmy Anderson injurypublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancashire 337 & 26-2, Durham 281

Jimmy Anderson's injury this morning at Sedbergh School has been diagnosed as a calf strain.

And the 36-year-old is out of the rest of the current game with Durham.

An ECB statement said: "James Anderson has sustained tightness to his right calf during Lancashire’s County Championship match against Durham.

"He will take no further part in the game and will continue to be assessed."

Anderson suffered the injury just after Lancashire had taken the new ball. Having sent down eight deliveries, he felt tightness, and went off for treatment.

The Ashes series against Australia starts on 1 August at Edgbaston - just 30 days away.

  15. wicket

WICKET Ballance lbw Curran 23published at 14:30 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 132-2 v Surrey 362

Gary Ballance goes back and across as is his wont and there is absolutely no doubt about that one after Sam Curran strikes him on the pad.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore comes to the crease, with Adam Lyth on 53 and Yorkshire 97 in front with eight wickets remaining.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hildreth c Weatherley b Barker 2published at 14:27 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 138-2 v Hampshire 349

An uncharacteristically loose drive by James Hildreth costs him his wicket at Taunton as Joe Weatherley, Hampshire's only slip, takes the catch to give Keith Barker a second wicket.

That will be a disappointment for the Somerset number three after his fine first-innings hundred.

New batsman Tom Banton is off the mark with a single and Azhar Ali is still there on 66 - the lead is 197.

  17. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

Wow - we've just seen a video of one of the best slip catches you are ever likely to see.

It was taken by Derbyshire's Matt Critchley, who dived to his right at third slip and took it one-handed just millimetres above the turf.

Middlesex's George Scott was the man to go, with Ravi Rampaul the successful bowler.

We'll let you see it if we can.

  18. 500 up for Essexpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 503-7

Ravi Bopara has moved on to 127.

Peter Siddle is on 23, including two sixes and a four.

And Essex are now past 500 at Trent Bridge. They now lead Notts by 290.

  19. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

Leaders Glamorgan take the ninth Worcestershire wicket as Michael Hogan produces a beauty to dispose of Joe Leach. The visitors are 312-9 after 108 overs and have now saved the follow-on - they trail by 137.

Dawid Malan is now just eight runs short of a hundred with Middlesex 251-6 after 84 overs against Derbyshire, still 306 behind.

Sussex have yet to lose a wicket since lunch against Northants and are 35-1, chasing a distant target of 499 for victory.

Alex Davies and Liam Livingstone have begun the task of rebuilding for Lancashire, who are 11-2 at Sedbergh School, 67 ahead of Durham.

  20. 50 runs

for Adam Lythpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 121-1 v Surrey 362

The square cut is one of Adam Lyth's favourite strokes and it carries him to a 130-ball half-century at North Marine Road, his second of the game, as Sam Curran is put away. Gary Ballance is 19 not out at the other end.
