Tom Abell drives Keith Barker through extra cover for four but the next delivery is his last as he is bowled attempting to turn it away through the leg-side - but did that one keep a little low? Not good news for Hampshire's fourth-innings prospects if it did.

Azhar Ali is still there on 60 as James Hildreth comes out to bat.

  2. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

Just want to remind you that Gloucestershire are also in action today in a one-day match against Australia A at Bristol.

It's a bit of an understatement to say things aren't going their way so far, with the tourists 338-1 in the 48th over.

Will Pucovski is 137 not out and Travis Head has 135.

  3. wicket

WICKET Hameed c Bancroft b Rushworth 0published at 14:02 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancs 337 & 0-2, Durham 281

Two wickets in the over for Chris Rushworth, as he also finds the edge of Haseeb Hameed too.

Lancashire's other England batsman goes fourth ball, caught at slip by Durham captain Cameron Bancroft.

After those four wickets from his old Durham new ball partner Graham Onions, quite a response from Rushworth.

WICKET Jennings c Eckersley b Rushworth 0published at 14:01 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancs 337 & 0-1, Durham 281

Great start for Durham, as Chris Rushworth has Keaton Jennings caught behind first ball.

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 233-2

Veteran Darren Stevens sends down an angled delivery to Rob Yates, who edges to first slip, where Kent captain Heino Kuhn hangs onto the chance.

Warwickshire are still 352 behind as Sam Hain arrives at the crease to join centurion Dom Sibley.

Century for Dom Sibleypublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 233-1

    Dom SibleyImage source, Rex Features

Dom Sibley's third century of the season, his third against Kent - and his seventh for the Bears.

And it's his fourth this year, having also got a ton in the MCC v Surrey champion county game in Dubai in March.

His highest score for Warwickshire is his 144 against Sussex last September.

That might be under threat this afternoon - and it would not do the Bears any harm either, as they bid to complete the real job of making the 426 need to avoid being asked to follow on.

  7. wicket

WICKET Harmer c Moores b Broad 20published at 13:54 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 463-7

Early wicket straight after lunch for Notts, a third for England's Stuart Broad.

Broad has Simon Harmer caught behind. And, on a morning when his England pace pal Jimmy Anderson has suffered an injury setback,at least Broad's form is encouraging.

His figures of 30-8-62-3 look very impressive, given the Essex total.

  8. new ball

Kent take new ball at Canterburypublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 224-1

They're back underway after lunch at Canterbury - and Kent take the new ball.

Unusually, it's off-spinner Ollie Rayner who takes it.

Looking for a bit of extra bounce maybe? But he has no effect.

With the second over with the new ball, 43-year-old Darren Stevens then finds Dom Sibley's edge on 92.

But it falls short of the slips - and, of course, Sibley then cashes in with a four off the next ball to move to 96.

The action has resumed at Taunton and Somerset skipper Tom Abell reaches his second half-century of the game in the second over after lunch as he dabs Keith Barker down past the solitary slip fielder for four.

This one has taken him 80 deliveries and he is doing a great job for his side, who now lead by 177.

The Sedbergh School ground is picture perfect - literally.

It's the sort of ground they'll have in heaven, where cricket is the only sport, and is played 365 days a year and screened perpetually on celestial TV.

Surely there must be something to tarnish that perfection?

Perhaps the lunches are rotten - but we bet they're not.

  11. Onions leads Lancashire fightbackpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

Lancashire 337, Durham 281 all out

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Graham Onions inspired a Lancashire fightback with the 30th 'five-fer' of his career.

Without the injured Jimmy Anderson, who pulled up midway through his 19th over, things looked tough for the hosts. But Liam Trevaskis was lured into one attempted cut too many to end his 66-run sixth-wicket partnership with Nathan Rimmington.

Durham were 68 behind at that point but lost their last five wickets for 18 runs in 10 overs, as Onions took four wickets in 31 balls.

His fifth wicket was Chris Rushworth, caught behind, and he took a big leap into the air to celebrate. How much of that was frustration at having to leave Durham two years ago?

  12. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Glamorgan 449 v Worcestershire 284-8

Like The Supremes, Worcestershire are keeping Glamorgan hanging on at Sophia Gardens after batting through the morning session for the loss of only three wickets.

Ed Barnard made 576 before falling to Michael Hogan and Brett D'Oliveira followed up his seven wickets on day two by surviving to lunch on 31 not out.

They need another 16 runs for a third batting point - but perhaps more importantly, that would also see them avoid the possibility of following on.

  13. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Derbyshire 557-6 dec v Middlesex 212-5

More good news for England supporters after Mark Stoneman's century for Surrey on day two, as Dawid Malan reaches lunch on 75 not out at Derby.

The Middlesex batsman has faced 161 balls and hit 11 fours so far, but his side need another 196 to ensure against having to follow-on.

Fynn Hudson-Prenmtice continues a memorable Derbyshire debut by taking a wicket with his first delivery, a beauty which had Max Holden caught behind for 10.

Hudson-Prentice made 99 in Derbyshire's first innings - wonder if he'd swap that wicket for an extra run?

  14. When, or if, will Essex declare?published at 13:27 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 457-6

    Michael Perkins
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

The Essex declaration always looked like being the main point of order to consider here at Trent Bridge.

Three LBWs so far on day three -one for Stuart Broad, two for Ravi Ashwin - may mean the decision is taken out of Ryan ten Doeschate's hands and I don't think he'd be totally unhappy about that.

If it does come to a declaration, the consensus of those of an Essex persuasion seems to be that they'll want a 300 lead by an hour after lunch.

    They currently lead by 244.

  15. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Northamptonshire 273 & 331 v Sussex 106 & 11-1

Sussex are on a slippery slope at Hove after Phil Salt was lbw to Brett Hutton for a duck two overs before the lunch interval.

They were set 499 to win after Northants added 119 to their overnight 212-4, with Nathan Buck hitting 51 off 61 balls.

Ollie Robinson picked up three wickets to finish with 4-69 and 10 in the match, but Sussex could do with a heavy squall blowing in off the sea and settling over the ground for the next 30 hours.

Lancashire's Graham Onions was very pleased with his first five-wicket haul against his former county Durham

Chris Rushworth is last man out, caught behind - and Graham Onions has yet another 'five-fer'.

It's the 30th of his career, his fourth for Lancashire but his first against his old county Durham.

Durham have lost their last five wickets for 18 runs in 10 overs - and now surrender a 56-run first-innings lead to Lancashire.

A remarkable turnaround, but also a excellent shouldering of responsibility by Onions following the loss of his fellow 36-year-old England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson.

He took four of those last five Durham wickets in just 31 balls.

    Yorkshire 327 & 104-1 v Surrey 362

    Adam LythImage source, Rex Features

Only one wicket in the morning session for champions Surrey, who were 35 ahead after the first innings.

Will Fraine and Adam Lyth put on 94, before the former was taken at gully in Ryan Patel's opening over, having added 43 to his first-innings century.

Lyth is still there on 44, and with Gary Ballance at the other end, Yorkshire have their two most experienced batsmen together.

They lead by 69, but there is a crucial session ahead for the home side at North Marine Road if they are to forge a defendable advantage.

  19. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 110-0 v Hampshire 349

The Division One leaders enjoy an excellent morning at Taunton and go into lunch 169 ahead, with openers Azhar Ali (52*) and Tom Abell (48*) still together.

It took them only 4.3 overs at the start of play to wrap up Hampshire's first innings, with Lewis Gregory claiming both wickets to fall to reach 250 in first-class cricket.

The visitors have used all five front-line bowlers to try and force a breakthrough at the start of Somerset's second innings, but without any luck so far.

They need a 'big' session after lunch to prevent the game being taken away from them.

  20. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 224-1

82 runs in the morning session for Warwickshire, just one wicket gone, Will Rhodes just before lunch for 109, his first century of the season.

That follow-on avoidance target of 436 is a bit closer. But the Bears need to keep their discipline.

And, with Dom Sibley still there on 92, scenting a third ton of the summer, that is surely a given.
