  1. Essex hoist the 400 at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 408-5

Essex continue to accumulate and a bit more quickly too, now that Nick Browne has gone.

They have now gone past 400 - and Ravi Bopara has moved on to 89, while Adam Wheater has rapidly gone on to 18, hitting four boundaries.

  2. Somerset 'need to score quickly'published at 12:06 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 31-0 v Hampshire 349

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

A 59-run lead on first innings for Somerset is a healthy one

The feeling is that the wicket will play pretty much as it has been through to day four. It has turned a little, but not nearly as much as has been the case with odd games in the recent past.

Somerset's best chance of victory if the pitch stays a pretty good one, will be to try and score as quickly as possible today.

  3. 6 runs

Tykes pair post 50 standpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 55-0 v Surrey 362

The pitch at Scarborough isn't providing a lot of seaside fun for bowlers.

Jordan Clark bangs in a short one at the start of a new over and Will Fraine has all the time in the world (not literally) to pull it away over square leg for six to bring up a half-century partnership.

He is looking good again after his first-innings century and is 19 not out, with Adam Lyth on 29, after clipping Clark's final ball away for four.

  4. First job done for Yorkshirepublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 38-0 v Surrey 362

Yorkshire clear the first-innings deficit at Scarborough without losing a wicket as Will Fraine flicks Jordan Clark away for four.

There were two boundaries for Adam Lyth in the previous over from Morne Morkel, but the second was lucky as it flew off the edge and into the gap between the slips and gully.

  5. wicket

WICKET ten Doeschate lbw b R Ashwin 22published at 11:51 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 384-5

Ravi Ashwin has taken his second wicket for his new county, as he removes Ryan ten Doeschate.

Having now completed his 50th over in the Essex first innings on his Notts debut, he joins Samit Patel (twice) as the only bowlers to deliver that many balls in an innings for the county in the 21st Century.

Ashwin currently has figures of 2-127. BBC Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle also reveals that his two previous appearances in Nottingham brought a combined return of 1-94.

  6. Injury scare over Andersonpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Lancashire 337, Durham 234-5

Slight injury scare over England paceman Jimmy Anderson at Sedbergh School - just a month away from the first Ashes Test.

He has pulled up in his run-up and, after three attempts to bowl the third ball of the 84th over, he has walked off. Josh Bohannon is completing the over.

Hopefully, just a precautionary measure, wit the Ashes series due to start in a month's time at Edgbaston. The BBC commentary team suspect it might be an Achilles injury, based on the stretching exercises Anderson was trying.

Lancs also had a slight scare over England opener Keaton Jennings.

He apparently made a visit to Lancashire Royal Infirmary yesterday after injuring a finger trying to field the ball in the slips. But he is back out there this morning.

    Yorkshire 327 & 18-0 v Surrey 362

After only nine runs from the first seven overs, Yorkshire double their total from the next as Adam Lyth and Will Fraine collect fours off Sam Curran.

Lyth cracks a wide ball from the left-armer away square and Fraine runs one down to third man past the three Surrey slips.

    Somerset 408 & 5-0 v Hampshire 349

  12. Division Two round-uppublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

Ollie Robinson - who else - takes the first wicket of the day at Hove, bowling Northamptonshire's Rob Keogh for 21. But the visitors are 244-5, a lead of 411 over Sussex.

Leaders Glamorgan have also made a breakthrough in Cardiff with Billy Root running out nightwatchman Charlie Morris. Worcestershire are 203-6, 246 in arrears.

No joy so far for Derbyshire, with Middlesex progressing to 155-3. Dawid Malan is 44 not out but his side are still 402 behind.

  13. wicket

WICKET Crane c Hildreth b Gregory 18published at 11:22 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 349

Somerset lead by 59 on first innings at Taunton after Lewis Gregory picks up the final Hampshire wicket for figures of 2-69.

Mason Crane half-heartedly edges to first slip and then swishes his bat in annoyance at himself. If he'd played the stroke with the same conviction, he might have made contact.

  14. Surrey keep it tightpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 8-0 v Surrey 362

There are many better new-ball pairings on the county circuit than Morne Morkel and Sam Curran, if any, and they have Yorkshire pinned down in the opening overs at Scarborough.

Morkel's latest maiden brings four leg byes, but the home openers have yet to score a run off him with the bat.

Will Fraine does, though, have four to his name after a boundary in Curran's first over.

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 150-0

Warwickshire's openers resume where they left off at Canterbury as they add the eight runs they needed to reach a 150 partnership.

Will Rhodes is on 74, Dom Sibley on 62.

This is their seventh century partnership together - all of which have come in their last 12 games - and it is their best in the County Championship this season.

Their best in the Championship for the Bears was actually against Kent.

That was the 176 they put on at Edgbaston when Warwickshire beat Kent to win the Division Two title in September.

But their overall best stand is their 190 out in Dubai in March, in the annual champion county game for the MCC against Surrey.

    Lancashire 337, Durham 208-5

A little morning mizzle in the air again at Sedbergh Shoool but they're off on time today.

And, with the day's first scoring shot, Durham go past 200 to get their first batting point.

  17. wicket

WICKET Alsop c Abell b Gregory 11published at 11:12 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 339-9

Tom Alsop is literally unable to move his feet out there because of his injury.

Somehow he manages to hit Lewis Gregory away through the covers for four, but the next delivery sees him lob a catch to mid-off.

    Somerset 408 v Hampshire 331-8

Somerset want to clean up the Hampshire tail as quickly as possible this morning. Lewis Gregory starts with a maiden to Tom Alsop, who is handicapped by injury, but Mason Crane picks up a couple of runs in the second over from Jamie Overton.

  19. Morkel starts with maidenpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 0-0 v Surrey 362

Morne Morkel has the ball as Yorkshire begin their second innings at Scarborough.

First order of business for the Tykes, to clear a 35-run deficit.

They haven't managed to reduce that figure yet, though.

It's six dot balls from the big South African to Adam Lyth.

  20. wicket

WICKET Browne lbw Broad 163published at 11:03 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Notts 213, Essex 346-4

Astonishing. After his seven and a half hours at the crease on days one and two, Nick Browne lasts four more balls on day three, without adding to his overnight 163.

A single to Ravi Bopara off Stuart Broad's first ball of the day, followed by an LBW shout against Browne off the next delivery.

But, three balls later, Broad shouts again and this time he is successful. His second wicket.

New man is Essex skipper Ryan ten Doeschate.
