  1. 50 runs

for Daniel Bell-Drummondpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Kent 179 v Surrey 271

Joe Denly was already in the 30s when Bell-Drummond arrived at the crease but Bell-Drummond reaches 50 just one ball after his team-mate with a similar shot, working Scott Borthwick to the leg side for a single.

The partnership is worth 82 from 25.3 overs.

  2. 50 runs

for Joe Denlypublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Kent 178-2 v Surrey 271

That's very useful half-century from the England batsman, who eases Scott Borthwick to midwicket and strolls a single to go to 50 before raising his bat to the pavilion.

  3. Donald on the chargepublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Hampshire 539 & 82-4 v Warwickshire 307

First-innings centurion Aneurin Donald has taken a liking to pre-tea bowling hero Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

The Hampshire batsman has struck four successive Dalby deliveries - spread over two overs - to the boundary for four.

Three of the deliveries were poor and down the leg side, it must be said. They other was sent beautifully through extra cover.

  4. 50 runs

for Lees & Bancroftpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Durham 117 & 124-0 v Leicestershire 202

Alex Lees joins captain and opening partner Cameron Bancroft in reaching a half-century. Durham are certainly fighting back well against Leicestershire.

Jake Libby is gone for 77 as he edges England left-arm spinner Jack Leach to slip. It's three down, but could be four in reality because of Chris Nash retiring hurt.

  6. wicket

ESSEX 328 ALL OUTpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Essex 328 v Yorkshire 208

Kesh Maharaj has Jamie Porter caught at slip first ball and that's that. Essex lead Yorkshire by 120 runs on first innings. Skipper Ryan ten Doeschate finishes 70 not out.

It's going to take something pretty special from the White Rose second time out with the bat but then again, this season they have made a habit of poor batting displays first up and then dragging it back in the second innings.

  7. wicket

WICKET: Beard b Maharaj 41published at 16:30 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Essex 328-9 v Yorkshire 208

Kesh Maharaj gets the breakthrough as the South Africa left-arm spinner gets beyond Aaron Beard's defences to bowl him and end a 75-run partnership with Essex skipper Ryan ten Doeschate.

  8. Aussies batting at Arundelpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Australia A 66-0 v Sussex 263

In the tour match at Arundel, Australia A have dismissed Sussex for 263 with Delray Rawlins top-scoring. The Aussies have begun their reply with Test openers Joe Burns and Marcus Harris at the crease.

  9. BIG Essex leadpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Essex 321-8 v Yorkshire 208

Ryan ten Doeschate (65) and Aaron Beard (39) are taking the game away from Yorkshire here.

A partnership of 67 and what started as speculative blazing around the ground has matured into a measured partnership that's showing precious little sign of being broken.

It's rare that a lead of more than 100 on first-innings is not match winning. It's now 113.

Yorkshire are getting desperate enough to turn to the part-time spin of Adam Lyth, who in fairness is keeping it very tight.

  10. Tea at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Hampshire 539 & 64-4 v Warwickshire 307

An intriguing final session in store in Southampton, where Hampshire have gone for quick runs after declining the chance to make Warwickshire follow on, but they have lost wickets at regular intervals.

They lead by 296 and will now, we'd imagine, be looking for a few more runs after tea before giving Warwickshire's top order a tricky period to bat before the close.

  11. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Kent 141-2 v Surrey 271

A patient 41 not out from Joe Denly has put Kent within sight of a demanding position.

Daniel Bell-Drummond is unbeaten on 27 and the away side head for the interval 130 runs in arrears but with eight first-innings wickets in hand.

There are still 47 overs scheduled to be bowled today. Doubt they will get all those in, but it's looking like a late finish.

  12. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Notts 189-2 v Somerset 326

Nottinghamshire reach the interval well placed but still 137 runs adrift of Somerset on first innings. Jake Libby is still there on 69 and has recently been joined by skipper Steven Mullaney following an impressive but all too brief cameo from Ben Duckett.

One major downside is that their 189-2 could well end up reading as 189-3. Chris Nash had to retire hurt on 50 after being hit on the helmet by a Jamie Overton short ball.

  13. wicket

    WICKET: Rossouw c Hose b Hannon-Dalby 1published at 16:05 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Hampshire 539 & 52-4 v Warwickshire 307

Oliver Hannon-Dalby is on fire with Rilee Rossouw his latest victim.

The South African doesn't often dig in and, sure enough, he tries to launch Hannon-Dalby into the stands but skies a catch to Adam Hose at deep midwicket.

  14. Tea at Northamptonpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Lancashire 98-2 v Northants 442

Lancashire are fighting hard at Wantage Road after a dreadful start to their first innings. They were 2-2 but Alex Davies (70) and Rob Jones (27) have since shared an unbroken stand on 96. The deficit is still HUGE though, as Northants posted 442.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Rahane lbw Hannon-Dalby 3published at 15:59 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Hampshire 539 & 50-3 v Warwickshire 307

Well bowled again by Oliver Hannon-Dalby, who seams one in to the right-handed Ajinkya Rahane and strikes him on the pad.

The umpire takes his time to raise his finger but that looked a good shout.

That's two for Hannon-Dalby and Hampshire are not yet 300 in front. They are still in a strong position but they will want a few more to put a Warwickshire win completely out of the equation.

  16. Bancroft and Lees lead Durham fightbackpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Durham 117 & 93-0 v Leicestershire 202

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Having used the heavy roller at the start of their second innings, things have gone perfectly for Durham.

They were 95 behind but Alex Lees and Cameron Bancroft came out with intent and were going along at five an over as they managed to virtually wipe out the deficit before tea.

They have added 93 runs which is also Durham’s highest opening stand of the season, beating the 83 put on by Lees and Gareth Harte in the first match of the season at Derby.

The first maiden didn’t come until the 18th over, but Durham were 89-0 at that point.

Leicestershire made 212 in their first innings with Colin Ackerman’s 62 not out the mainstay of it, while Chris Rushworth took five wickets and Ben Raine four against his former side.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Organ b Patel 18published at 15:48 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Hampshire 539 & 46-2 v Warwickshire 307

Both openers gone in the space of three balls and there are stumps flying again.

Felix Organ goes for something expansive against the spin of Jeetan Patel but misses and has to depart.

That shot selection probably said much about Hampshire's gameplan, though. They want quick runs and now it's over to Ajinkya Rahane and Sam Northeast.

    WICKET: Holland b Hannon-Dalby 26published at 15:47 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Hampshire 539 & 46-1 v Warwickshire 307

That's a beauty of a yorker from Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Ian Holland has his off stump rocked back.

He does his best to keep out a swinging delivery but it's too good and Warwickshire have their first second-innings breakthrough.

  19. Essex take another point to teapublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Essex 304-8 v Yorkshire 208

    That is tea at Chelmsford.

This is fast becoming a match-winning first innings from Essex. They're beyond 300 to make it three batting bonus points and, more importantly, a lead of 96 runs over Yorkshire.

Ryan ten Doeschate is on 60 and Aaron Beard's 27 not out so who's to say this won't go on for a while yet.

Their stand is now worth 51.

  20. Roland-Jones in the wicketspublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 July 2019

    Gloucestershire 201 v Middlesex 172

Well he may have been unable to take all 10 Glos wickets having snared the opening five, but Toby Roland-Jones just said "I'm still here Ed Smith" by claiming career best figures of 7-52. Not bad from the Middlesex man, and great to see after a difficult time with injury.
