    Daniel Bell-DrummondImage source, Rex Features

Daniel Bell-Drummond pushes Jamie Porter away for an easy single and completes a 99-ball fifty for Kent.

It's been an invaluable innings so far, and Ollie Robinson, on 21, is providing sensible support.

There are 14 overs remaining to the close.

    Durham 342-4 v Leicestershire

Alex Lees' magnificent innings comes to an end at the Riverside.

The left-hander appears to be on a guard outside off-stump as Mohammad Abbas angles the ball into him and wins an lbw decision.

Lees batted for 345 minutes, faced 265 balls, hit 25 fours and put on 147 with Jack Burnham, who is still at the crease on 77.

WICKET Hose lbw C Overton 17published at 17:41 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Warwicks 275-4 v Somerset

    Craig OvertonImage source, Rex Features

The new ball does the trick for Somerset as Adam Hose tried to repeat his on-drive in Craig Overton's previous over (see 5.37 entry) but this time plays slightly across the line and fails to make contact.

It's a straightforward lbw decision for the umpire, bringing Tim Ambrose to the middle for the remaining six and a bit overs. Rob Yates is still there on 130 not out.

  6. Somerset look to new ballpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Warwickshire 262-3 v Somerset

Second-placed Somerset have taken the new ball as as sometimes happens, the runs come a little easier.

Jack Brooks concedes only a couple of singles, but Rob Yates glances to fine leg for four off Craig Overton, who is superbly driven straight down the ground by Adam Hose later in the over.

Yates is 122 not out and Hose has 17.

  7. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

Derbyshire have been bowled out for 200 by Gloucestershire, with last man Ravi Rampaul falling to Josh Shaw (3-50), leaving Logan van Beek on 34 not out.

There is a rain hold-up at Colwyn Bay, with leaders Lancashire 64-1 in reply to Glamorgan's 257. Alex Davies is the man out, lbw to Ruaidhri Smith for 32.

Durham continue to pile up the runs against Leicestershire, with Alex Lees 165 not out and Jack Burnham on 66. They have added 116 so far and the home side's score is 315-3.

Alex Wakely has reached a half-century for Northants, who are 122-2 after 33 overs, having bowled out Worcestershire for 186 earlier in the day.

Sussex are 48-3 in the 14th over at Hove, but only 27 runs behind after Ollie Robinson took eight wickets in Middlesex's 75 all out.

  8. Notts reply underwaypublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Yorkshire 232 v Notts 10-0

Notts first innings is underway and they have moved-on to 10 without loss.

Ben Slater and Jake Libby have a minimum of 13 overs to negotiate today.

Duanne Olivier and Ben Coad have opened the Yorkshire bowling.

  9. Essex look to press advantagepublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Kent 66-4 v Essex

Daniel Bell-Drummond begins the final session at Canterbury with a well-timed clip through square leg for four off Mohammad Amir.

There is only a single for Ollie Robinson from the next, bowled by Simon Harmer, and these two high-class bowlers pose a significant threat to Kent.

  10. wicket

WICKET Vince c Foakes b Morkel 47published at 17:20 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Hampshire 172-5 v Surrey

Captain James Vince can't quite make it to 50 as he plays at a short ball he could leave alone from Morne Morkel and is caught behind.

Vince scored quickly after coming in but slowed down as he approached his half-century, eventually scoring 47 from 71 balls, with eight fours included.

Liam Dawson is still at the crease on 17 and his new partner is Aneurin Donald.

  11. Second point for Bearspublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Warwicks 250-3 v Somerset

Adam Hose pushes into the covers for a single and Warwickshire earn a second batting point.

He has seven, and Rob Yates is still there on 115. There are 15 overs left before the close.

  12. Sussex struggle after Middlesex collapsepublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Middlesex 75 v Sussex 18-3

We've only had 28 and a bit overs of play at Hove and already 13 wickets have gone down.

After bowling out Middlesex for 75 - with Ollie Robinson claiming eight of them - Sussex's batsmen are not finding conditions any more to their liking.

Harry Finch is the latest to go, lbw to Toby Roland-Jones, bringing Australia's Alex Carey to the crease for his first Championship innings.

Wonder what he'll make of these conditions?

  13. DBD holds key for Kentpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Kent 61-4 v Essex - tea

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

A good short session for Essex in which Sam Cook took all three wickets on his first Championship appearance since mid-June.

Despite conditions not being as bowler-friendly as this morning, Cook immediately struck an ideal line and length to remove Sean Dickson, Heino Kuhn and Sam Billings.

Kent will be relieved that Daniel Bell-Drummond’s fine mid-season form has continued. He has capitalised on anything over-pitched to reach 33 not out and Kent now need him to forge a significant partnership with Ollie Robinson to have a chance of posting a competitive score.

  14. wicket

    WICKET Olivier b Patterson-White 14published at 17:05 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

Yorkshire 232 all out v Notts

Liam Patterson-White does for Duanne Olivier to bring the Yorkshire innings to a close.

Olivier went for the sweep but ends up playing a fairly inelegant shot, off-balance, and is bowled.

Yorkshire owe a lot to the partnership between Jonny Tattersall (92) and Tim Bresnan (58) as without their intervention the scorecard is certainly not one to savour.

Steve Patterson was the man left unbeaten on 16 as Yorkshire posted 232.

Notts will face 17 overs before the close of play.

  15. wicket

WICKET Hain c Davies v van der Merwe 25published at 16:55 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Warwicks 242-3 v Somerset

Slow left-armer Roelof van der Merwe drifts one up to Sam Hain, finds a little bit of turn and Steven Davies takes a good catch behind the stumps.

It's an important wicket for Somerset as it earns them a bowling point and brings a new batsman - Adam Hose - to the crease with 20 and a bit overs of play remaining in the day.

Two or three more before the close and this could still be an even-stevens day - but Rob Yates is still there on 114 not out.

  16. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

Alex Lees ducks a short ballImage source, Rex Features

Durham opener Alex Lees is now 159 not out in a score of 277-3 after 72 overs against Leicestershire at the Riverside. He has so far added 86 with Jack Burnham, who has 41.

Leaders Lancashire have made a bright start to their reply to Glamorgan's 257 all out, reaching 44-0 in the 12th over, with Keaton Jennings and Alex Davies together.

Derbyshire are now 164-9 against Gloucestershire, with Fynn Hudson-Prentice caught behind off Josh Shaw for 38.

Northants lost both openers cheaply after dismissing Worcestershire for 186, but Alex Wakely and Rob Keogh have steered them to 82-2 in the 23rd over.

Having been bowled out for just 75 at Hove, Middlesex have already sent back one Sussex batsman with Tim Murtagh removing Phil Salt for four.

  17. wicket

WICKET Coad lbw Patterson-White 4published at 16:46 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Yorkshire 212-9 v Notts

The spin of Patterson-White is really troubling the Yorkshire batting line-up this afternoon.

Ben Coad becomes his third victim after being trapped lbw.

Just one to go for Notts now who will be looking to round this off soon.

  18. Bears find the boundarypublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Warwickshire 238-2 v Somerset

Somerset paceman Jamie Overton is copping some punishment at Edgbaston.

After Sam Hain put away two short balls in an over, Overton conceded three to Rob Yates in the next.

An attempted yorker, a short, wide delivery and an overpitched ball were all despatched with aplomb as Yates moved on to 114 not out.

Overton has 0-59 from 14 overs so far.

WICKET Kuhn b Cook 6published at 16:39 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Kent 49-4 v Essex

    Heino KuhnImage source, Rex Features

Sam Cook's figures are 'ruined' as Heino Kuhn collects four runs from a streaky inside edge.

They are the first runs conceded by the Essex seamer, but he takes his revenge in his next over as the South African plays on.

Kent in trouble - and as was the case in their most recent games before the T20 Blast break, Essex are on top.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Tattersall c Moores b Patterson-White 92published at 16:36 British Summer Time 18 August 2019

    Yorkshire 204-8 v Notts

Jonny Tattersall's fine knock is brought to an end through a thin edge off Liam Patterson-White's bowling is gratefully snaffled by Tom Moores.

The crowd rose to give Tattersall a standing ovation as he frustratingly departed just eight runs short of a century.

His contribution to the innings can't be overstated when you look at the lack of runs scored by the Yorkshire top order this morning. He's helped dig his side out of a rather large hole.
