    Worcestershire 186 & 42-4 v Northants 376

Look away now if you're a Worcestershire fan.

Things are going from bad to worse for the Pears at the County ground in Northampton.

Alex Milton entered the fray on a pair and it duly arrived as he was trapped lbw by Ben Sanderson. He faced nine balls across the two innings and failed to get off the mark in either.

Callum Ferguson has also registered a duck with Sanderson claiming all four Worcestershire wickets.

They are currently 153 runs behind Northants.

  2. wicket

WICKET Higgins lbw van Beek 101published at 18:11 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Derbyshire 200 v Gloucs 367-7

As so often happens when a big partnership is broken, the second contributor follows soon after.

Ryan Higgins follows Chris dent back to the Gloucestershire dressing room as they both fall to Logan van Beek in consecutive overs.

The visitors will be happy enough, though, as they lead by 167.

North Marine Road groundImage source, Rex Features

Today's attendance at the North Marine Road ground in Scarborough is 4,984.

The home punters will be delighted with how their team has performed today, as they push towards a lead of 200.

A far cry from where they were yesterday morning when they were 38-5.

    How quickly things can change.

  4. 100 runs

for Ryan Higginspublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Derbyshire 200 v Gloucs 364-6

Ryan Higgins takes a single off Logan van Beek to reach a 129-ball hundred, but sees partner Chris Dent depart next ball, caught behind for 169.

Dent batted for 408 minutes, faced 331 balls and hit a six and 19 fours in his fourth century of the season. Together they put on 221.

  5. 250 runs

for Dane Vilaspublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Glamorgan 257 v Lancashire 521-8

Dane Vilas attempts a huge blow towards cow corner, but finds the boundary at third man after the ball flies away off the top edge.

Not elegant - but it gets the job done as he reaches 250 off 227 balls. That was his 34th four - and he's also hit five sixes. Surely he must be getting tired.

  6. wicket

WICKET Banton c Ambrose b Rhodes 23published at 17:58 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Warwicks 419 v Somerset 110-4

A big wicket for Warwickshire as Tom Banton pushes forward in Will Rhodes' second over and a thin edge is safely taken by keeper Tim Ambrose.

George Bartlett is the new batsman and plays out five dot balls from Jeetan Patel after Steven Davies takes three at the start of the next over to reach 64 not out.

  7. Career-best for Vilaspublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Glamorgan 257 v Lancashire 511-8

Dane Vilas flays the first ball of a new Ruaidhri Smith over cover for four.

Two balls later, a single takes him to 244 not out, equalling the highest score of his career, made against Hampshire in 2017.

Two runs in the following over from Michael Hogan and there is a new PB for the Lancashire skipper, whose side now lead by 254.

  8. Notts up against itpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Yorkshire 232 & 133-1 v Notts 184

Adam Lyth (60*) and Gary Ballance (39*) have formed a partnership worth 69 as they continue to stretch the Yorkshire lead at Scarborough.

Notts have only managed to remove Will Fraine in the second innings and they now find themselves 179 runs behind.

It's a commanding position already and you get the feeling Notts will need something special to get their first win of the season from this position now.

  9. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

Worcestershire appear to be heading towards defeat at Wantage Road, slumping to 23-3 against Northants, still 167 behind. Ben Sanderson has taken all three, after Alex Wakely and Dwaine Pretorius hit centuries for the home side earlier in the day.

Middlesex have lost a second wicket at Hove, where Jared Warner had Nick Gubbins caught for 28. Sam Robson is 42 not out in their 89-2, still 145 behind.

Brydon Carse struck twice in the same over for Durham, removing Paul Horton (52) and Neil Dexter and leaving Leicestershire on 111-2, 433 in arrears.

Meanwhile, Gloucestershire grind on at Derby, where they are now 341-5, with Chris Dent 161 not out and Ryan Higgins on 89.

  10. 150 runs

for Chris Dentpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Derbyshire 200 v Gloucs 327-5

Chris Dent and Ryan Higgins march on, and have now established a Gloucestershire sixth-wicket record stand against Derbyshire.

Dent is 151 not out, and Higgins has 85, having put on 184 together so far.

    The lead is 127.

  11. 50 runs

for Steven Daviespublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Warwicks 419 v Somerset 96-3

Neither Steven Davies nor Tom Banton has managed a century in the Championship so far this season, and Somerset could certainly do with one or both of them reaching three figures in this match.

They are going along nicely enough at Edgbaston and Davies finds the long-leg boundary to bring up a half-century partnership before taking a single to reach an 86-ball fifty, his third of the season.

  12. wicket

    WICKET S Curran c Stevenson b Edwards 14published at 17:33 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Hampshire 367 v Surrey 40-2

Fidel Edwards enjoyed that one if his celebration is anything to go by.

Sam Curran looks to pull the shot away but is caught at deep square leg by Ryan Stevenson.

Curran leaves with his team trailing by 327 and now heads off for England duty against Australia.

He will be replaced by Surrey for the final two days of the match.

    Kent 226 v Essex 32-1 - close

Umpires Ian Blackwell and Paul Baldwin decides it's time to put their feet up for the evening as the rain continues at the Spitfire Ground.

Division One leaders Essex will return on the third morning 194 behind Kent, with Tom Westley 10 not out and Alastair Cook on eight.

Kent extended their first innings beyond 200 in between the showers earlier in the day after resuming on 125-6.

Harry Podmore made an unbeaten 54 and put on 65 with Matt Milnes (31), while Sam Cook claimed 5-42 for the visitors.

  14. 50 runs

for Adam Lythpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Yorkshire 232 96-1 v Notts 184

The left-handed opener reaches his half-century in 95 balls, including seven boundaries.

Gary Ballance is on 21 at the other end and the duo have stretched the Yorkshire lead to 152.

  15. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

Worcestershire have started their second innings against Northants and are currently 12 without loss, putting them 178 runs behind.

In response to Durham’s gigantic 544, Leicestershire have started well and are chipping away at the lead. They are 80 without loss with Paul Horton hitting a half-century.

Middlesex trail Sussex by 169 but still have nine wickets remaining. Sam Robson and Nick Gubbins are the men seeking to reduce the deficit.

Chris Dent remains unbeaten on 133 for Gloucestershire, with Ryan Higgins on 73 at the other end. Their lead over Derbyshire is now 97.

  16. 200 runs

for Dane Vilaspublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Glamorgan 257 v Lancashire 455-7

    Dane VilasImage source, Rex Features

There's very little seaside fun to be had at Colwyn Bay today for Glamorgan as Dane Vilas deftly dabs away a ball from Graham Wagg to reach a magnificent double centry from just 194 balls.

The South African's innings has featured five sixes and 26 fours and he has added 111 for the seventh wicket with Danny Lamb, who belted a six off Samit Patel in the previous over to move on to 49 not out.

That is, however, his final scoring stroke as Wagg as him lbw two balls after Vilas reached his 200.

  17. Garrett seeks first wicketpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Warwicks 419 v Somerset 71-3

Close, but not close enough for Warwickshire debutant George Garrett as Tom Banton leg glances and the ball just eludes the left glove of keeper Tim Ambrose behind the stumps.

The boundary takes Banton to 14 not out and Steven Davies is on 36 - 29 overs remain.

  18. Curran conundrumpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Hampshire 367 v Surrey 30-1

    Shot Sam!

A lovely stroke from Curran finds the boundary but an intriguing situation is on the horizon regarding the Surrey man.

He is due to join up with the England squad tomorrow ahead of the third Ashes test and won't be playing any further part in the game after this evening.

So what happens tomorrow morning if Hampshire fail to remove him in the current session?

We were informed earlier that a like-for-like replacement will play the second two days of the game.

  19. rain stops play

Rain returns at Canterburypublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 19 August 2019

    Kent 226 v Essex 32-1

Hands up all those who are old enough to remember the song 'Here It Comes Again' by The Fortunes.

Failing that, try whistling Here Comes The Rain Again by the Eurythmics during the latest break in play at Canterbury.

There were 29.2 overs left in the day's play before the teams left the field - but that will come down, depending on how long they are off.

Alastair Cook has eight not out from 45 balls, and Tom Westley has 10.

    Hampshire 367 v Surrey 11-1

Patel lasts only eight balls and Hampshire have made the all-important early breakthrough.
