    War 244-3

With nine overs left at Edgbaston, Jamie Porter aims an angry kick at the ground after his 20th over, like the previous 19, goes unrewarded. Spinner Simon Harmer is the only wicket-taker for Essex so far today as Sam Hain and Matthew Lamb extend their partnership beyond three figures.
