WICKET Moeen c&b Harmer 32published at 8.2 overs

    Worcs 61-2 v Essex

    The key wicket!

I was just commenting here that I wasn't sure Moeen Ali had hit a single shot along the ground during his innings - and he's perished to a fairly typically tame shot.

He chips a poor-looking stroke straight back to Simon Harmer, who holds on to a smart catch diving low to his left.

  2. Worcs 60-1 v Essexpublished at 8 overs

    Moeen 32, Wessels 18

Ravi Bopara always looks such an awkward bowler to get away - and Moeen Ali is frustrated with himself that, on a couple of occasions during that over, he just can't quite get hold of it.

First he lands a big heave just short of the man patrolling the boundary on the leg side, and then fails to pierce the inner circle from the final delivery.

  3. Wessels going for itpublished at 19:13 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Worcs 54-1 v Essex

    David Bradley
BBC Hereford and Worcester cricket commentator

It didn't get that high but Wessels timed it perfectly.

    He's going for Harmer now.

  4. Worcs 54-1 v Essexpublished at 7 overs

Simon Harmer's still getting plenty of purchase out of the pitch, despite the evening closing in, but he's not quite on target in that over.

That massive six from Riki Wessels just released the pressure valve.

  5. 6 runs

    Worcs 54-1 v Essex

    Shot!

Riki Wessels gets down onto one knee and clobbers Simon Harmer for a straight six.

  6. 'Credit to Lawrence'published at 19:11 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Worcs 47-1 v Essex

You have to to give Dan Lawrence a lot of credit, he's not been bowling very much for Essex but he's been called on, on Finals Day when the conditions are right for spin.

  7. Worcs 47-1 v Essexpublished at 6 overs

It's Simon Harmer time for Essex. And if he's half as good as he was in the semi-final win over Derbyshire, this'll be interesting...

  8. Worcs 47-1 v Essexpublished at 6 overs

    Moeen 29, Wessels 9

I think Worcestershire will take that after six overs.

Having lost Hamish Rutherford to the third ball of the final, Moeen Ali - very much the aggressor of this partnership - and Riki Wessels have gone along very nicely indeed.

  9. 6 runs

    for Moeenpublished at 5.2 overs

    Worcs 44-1 v Essex

... And he gets the Moeen Ali treatment! Six more for the Rapids skipper, this time over cow corner.

  10. Worcs 38-1 v Essexpublished at 5 overs

Ex-England man Ravi Bopara, just as he did in the semi-final, will deliver the final over of the Powerplay period...

  11. Worcs 38-1 v Essexpublished at 5 overs

Dan Lawrence, who dismissed Hamish Rutherford in the first over, is back into the attack and keeping things very tight.

It's an excellent set of six from which Worcestershire can only must a couple of singles.

One more over of the Powerplay to come.

  12. Moeen the danger manpublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Worcs 36-1 v Essex

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

If you don't get Moeen Ali out, he becomes impossible to bowl to.

On this pitch, it's going to be a lot easier to score runs at the start of your innings then at the end of it, and Moeen knows that.

  13. Worcs 36-1 v Essexpublished at 4 overs

    Moeen 20, Wessels 7

Moeen Ali is very much a man dealing in boundaries here, as he smashes his next two strokes straight at fielders.

He's unbeaten on 20, 18 of which have gone to the rope.

  14. 6 runs

    for Moeenpublished at 3.4 overs

    Worcs 36-1 v Essex

    A big'un from Moeen Ali!

The England all-rounder latches on to a shorter delivery from Sam Cook and plants it into the stands. It's the first maximum of the final.

  15. 'Wides take pressure off'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Worcs 30-1 v Essex

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Essex are getting close to having bowled an over of wides.

With the danger men now in the crease, that just takes the pressure off.

  16. Worcs 30-1 v Essexpublished at 3 overs

In between the wides, that's actually a fairly tidy start from Aaron Beard.

Perhaps he's just getting ready for the 10-ball overs that'll be coming in for The Hundred next summer.

  17. Worcs 28-1 v Essexpublished at 2.4 overs

A third wide down the leg side...

  18. Worcs 25-1 v Essexpublished at 2.1 overs

Now then, Essex captain Simon Harmer has decided to shuffle his bowlers early on. Aaron Beard's coming on for the third over.

His first ball is an excellent one - but he then follows it with two wides down the leg side.

We're in proper dusk territory now, with the pitch covered completely in shade and the floodlights beginning to take hold.

  19. Spin the key for Essex?published at 18:56 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Worcs 23-1 v Essex

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

All day the only bowlers we've seen to be able to extract the turn has been the Essex bowlers, they've been giving it a rip.

They are capitalising, they've got about ten or twelve overs before that dew comes in and I think we will see more cutters from seamers.

  20. Worcs 23-1 v Essexpublished at 2 overs

    Moeen 12, Wessels 5

Sam Cook, who has replaced Jamie Porter in the Essex side for the final, will take the second over.

He immediately gets some tap from Riki Wessels, however, who cracks his first deliver through backward point.

Mooen Ali gets in on the act towards the back end of the over, hitting successive fours to get Worcestershire off to a speedy start.
