  1. Start of day two at Riversidepublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Durham 197-6 v Glamorgan

Here we go. Lunch will be taken at 1310 - as it stands.

The equation is simple for fourth-placed Glamorgan. On paper anyway.

They need to wrap up this innings as quickly as possible for the third bowling point and start racking up batting points - weather permitting.

They'll hope to see the back of BJ Watling early this morning.

He's 83 not out and has kept the bowlers at bay for more than four hours.

He resumes with Ben Raine - who is unbeaten on 26.

    Marchant de Lange will bowl.

I'm not sure how many overs we'll get in. Rain is heading our way.

It has at least disappeared for now.

Fingers crossed for this one too.

  9. '200 will be a good score' - Hildrethpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Somerset 75-4 v Essex (inspection 11:00)

    James HildrethImage source, Rex Features

Somerset batsman James Hildreth is expecting a low-scoring contest in their title decider against Essex.

Hildreth was one of four Somerset batsmen dismissed on a rain-shortened opening day at Taunton and believes it is vital they must eke out every run possible, as only a victory will be enough for them to become champions for the first time.

"The pitch is doing plenty for the bowlers already, with some seam movement and spin. I can't see it getting any easier to bat on, although you can never quite be sure at Taunton," he said.

“Knowing there was some bad weather forecast, we had to make sure of producing a result wicket. Anything above 200 will be a good score."

  11. Rain delays start of day two at Riversidepublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Durham 197-6 v Glamorgan

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

They were hoping to start on time here... But unfortunately some drizzle has encroached.

I think the weather window was half eleven, maybe up to 12 o'clock.

It's a waiting game at the moment.

  12. 'Batting won't get easier' - Cookpublished at 10:29 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Somerset 75-4 v Essex (inspection 11:00)

    Sam CookImage source, Rex Features

Essex seam bowler Sam Cook was content with their "decent start" on day one of their game against Somerset at Taunton.

Cook dismissed openers Murali Vijay and Steven Davies and said the side had yet to fully celebrate Saturday's T20 Blast triumph in order to concentrate on the title decider.

“There hasn't been enough cricket yet to make an accurate assessment of conditions, but I don't think batting is going to get any easier as the match progresses," he said.

"Four wickets is a decent start for us. We had talked in the dressing room before the game about being really on it from ball one, so it was great for me to pick up those two early wickets."

  15. No play before lunch at the Ovalpublished at 10:22 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Surrey 246-2 v Notts

We've got rain seemingly all over the north of England and the West Country but how's it looking in London?

    It's a slightly different picture.

Er, thundery showers for most of the day.

Surrey could hold on to 6th place in this match if we do get a bit of respite but Notts will remain rooted to the bottom of the table no matter what the outcome.

  17. Call-up delights 'down to earth' Crawleypublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Kent 147 v Hampshire 80-3 - start delayed

    Zak CrawleyImage source, Rex Features

Kent opener Zak Crawley experienced the highs and lows of cricket life in the space of a few hours on the opening day of their game against Hampshire at Canterbury.

Bowled second ball for a duck by Kyle Abbott, he was later cheered by the news that he had been selected for England's winter tour to New Zealand.

"I was disappointed to be out for nought, but I then get the phone call from Ed Smith. That just sums up cricket for you," he said.

“To be fair, I got a pretty good ball from Kyle Abbott. I didn’t expect it to nip back that much. That’s why it’s a great game because of all the highs and lows and, if you dare get too high, it drags you back down to earth again.”

  18. Poor forecast at Bristolpublished at 10:18 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Gloucs 80-6 v Northants

We might not have any play at all here in this promotion clash.

This will hurt Gloucestershire more than Northants.

The visitors only need two more points to go up - which they could still achieve with a rain-ruined draw.

    Gloucestershire need nine.

  19. 'Fresh' Pope helps put Surrey on toppublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Surrey 246-2 v Nottinghamshire - start delayed

Surrey batsman Ollie Pope believes his good form is the result of being 'mentally fresh' after a lay-off with a dislocated shoulder earlier this season.

The right-hander followed a recent double century with 78 not out at the Oval, sharing an unbroken stand of 176 with Scott Borthwick, and also heard of his selection for England's tour to New Zealand.

"When I did my shoulder I wasn't really sure where I stood with England so to be called back in is a really good feeling. I used the time I had off pretty wisely in a way. I really freshened up my mind," Pope told BBC Radio London.

"I knew exactly how I wanted to play and being unable to bat for two months I just had to get as mentally ready as I can. I've also made a few small technical changes to the way I'm standing, which I started to do when I was injured."

  20. Hogan makes most of Riverside 'nibble'published at 10:16 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

Durham 197-6 v Glamorgan (match due to resume 10:30)

    Michael HoganImage source, Rex Features

Glamorgan pace bowler Michael Hogan is confident they can come away with the result they need to give themselves a chance of promotion after the opening day against Durham at Chester-le-Street.

The Welsh county must win and hope there is a positive result in the Gloucestershire v Northamptonshire game if they are to pip one of them to a place in Division One next summer.

Hogan took 4-31 and said: "It's probably a wicket that suits my game, there's a bit of nibble, a bit in the air and I'm trying to hit the top of the stumps.

"The boys are pretty happy in the dressing room, we've approached this week (promotion) without putting too much pressure on ourselves."
