  1. Inspection at Tauntonpublished at 10:14 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Somerset 75-4 v Essex - start delayed

The umpires are planning an inspection at 11:00 at Taunton.

At least it's dry enough there at the moment to allow groundstaff to remove the weather protection.

Fingers crossed that we might see some play today.

There was no brotherly love on show at Grace Road yesterday as England new boy Matt Parkinson dismissed twin sibling Callum on day one of Lancashire's game with Leicestershire.

Matt had Callum lbw for 29 as the home side were bowled out for just 155 - and also learned that he will be touring New Zealand with England this winter.

"I was frustrated not to go on, and especially to get out to my brother. But I'm delighted for him. It's reward for all the hard work he's put in. For me, it's motivation and inspiration. If you perform, you might get a chance at a higher level," said Callum.

"I'll be in Australia this winter, in Adelaide, so I might pop over and see him - as long as he pays for the flights!"

    First the good news.

Day two of Durham's home game against Glamorgan will begin on time unless the weather in the north east takes a turn for the worse.

Here's BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson looking ahead to the day's play.

Look out of your nearest window. It's exactly like that across much of the country.

Here's Dan Downs with a video forecast for the west of England and it looks like there will be showers in Taunton, where the title decider is taking place, with more persistent rain setting in later in the day.

After yesterday's rain-disrupted opening day in the final round of County Championship games, we were hoping for clear skies and sunshine this morning. Fat chance!

The disappointing early morning scene (above) at Taunton - where Essex and Somerset are waiting to continue their title decider - is replicated at most of the other grounds.

Welcome to our coverage of day two. If there is action anywhere, we'll tell you about it.
